My ex mother in law is Puerto Rican. She made rice and beans all the time but she never showed me how to make sofrito. I have made this recipe from your video AND the beans in the other video and I am now addicted!
I’m not Puerto Rican, but my daughter is half Puerto Rican and I grew up in an environment with quite a bit of Latinos and I always love the food. I learn how to make Sofrito from her daughters grandmother who made the best food. I forgot some of the ingredients and that’s why I’m looking at your Video. I know Culantro is hard to find where I live, but I did buy some seeds so I can grow it here neighborhood. Thanks for sharing.😋
Never knew the recipe for this its my favorite seasoning, my Puerto rican Mom, she was good friends with my mom and I was friends with her daughter. She taught me how to make rice and beans when I was about ten years old, But this is the best I love it, Thank you so much for showing me how.
You are beautiful inside and out. Love your energy. I mean no disrespect by the way (can't say ish these days)... you got a family and so do I but just love to see genuine happy people like you. Much love and thanks for the great video!
Hi Lilah, Girl you are blessed! I have been living in Germany 42 years and never dared to make my own Sofrito . Everytime I flu back Home I wanted to ask my Mom how to make it, I always forgot to to ask. Unfortunately she is no longer alive, but now that I will do your recipe I will bring back wonderful Memories of her. Sofrito is coming Home. I wish you lots of success keep it going Nena. God bless you all ;o)
Thank you so much .. this touched my heart! My mom passed away in 2013 and I regretted that I never made pasteles with her but I always watched her make it. So I attempted to make them in 2017 and every year they came out better and better .. last year my family was like “omg these are moms pasteles exactly” I was so proud that I finally perfected the recipe. Every time I made them the smells just brought me back to sitting in the kitchen wearing a hairnet while I tied them up for her and she told me stories from her childhood. We don’t realize how much food brings us together but it absolutely does. I plan to film her pasteles this year in October just in time for Christmas .. thank you for watching!
I love being Puerto Rican 😍 mama I love your energy and I love that you make sofrito the same way I do. Different portions but the same ingredients. Now I’m hungry y don lad 10 de la noche 🤦🏽♀️ Que dios te bendiga..
You are so very welcome.. thanks for watching.. I don’t think I would ever make it on tiktok since I talk a lot and I like to make sure I explain things in detail .. I’m glad it helps my subbies too 😊

I love your videos. I’m learning how to make Puerto Rican food as I go. I already tried one of your recipes and it turned out mouhh. Reminds me of childhood when I grew up with friends

You are adorable. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I'm going to attempt to make arroz con gandules for some dear Puerto Rican friends of ours. He's always making it for me so I'm going to surprise him and his wife this week and make it for them. Thank you! Heading over your arroz con gandules recipe!
Great content! Loved seeing you! I know you’re an amazing cook! Can’t wait for the Spanish rice recipe! 😊 can you please list all the ingredients to make it easier?
I’ll be making some this weekend!!!!! Thank you so much for posting this. I remember the smells that came from the kitchen💛 (could you possibly put the amounts/measurements in the description box?)
Yes I will .. I’m new to this but I will list it out for you either tonight or tomorrow.. my rice recipe is coming soon too I already recorded it just have to edit it. Btw my brother lives in indy and he said he found a grocery store that sells culantro.. I’ll find out where it is for you
I just subscribed to your channel. Great content. Bye the way, do you have a pernil recipe and video? I'm planning on making one for the first time when Thanksgiving comes around next month.
When I make Sofrito and I always use your recipe I pour it into ice cube trays than when they freeze I pop them out of the ice cube trays and put them a container and just grab a cube or 2 as needed that way I don’t have to wait for the whole thing to thaw out
Hi.. for a batch this size I usually use 1-2 bundles .. it does keep for a long time as long as you package in an airtight container and keep frozen. I usually make this size about every 2-3 months depending on how often I cook. I have never had a batch go bad on me. Thanks for watching 😊
Cilantro = coriander Culsntro(recao) = prickly coriander. I love your videos girl. I'm in a puertorrican food group on Facebook and a lot of the members are in it to learn so I share your videos with them. Don't get me wrong, I do know and love to cook but I'm lazy to write recipes on my tiny cellphone keyboard and your cooking style is a lot like mine, so your videos save me all the writing. ❤️
I know how to make rice and beans red rice but my kids dad was from San Juan. Porto Rican lol but we moved from the city so I had to Am it lmao but I get most of what I need I just can't get sofrito I can only put parts of it.lol
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾 Check your list. You left out the Yellow Pepper. You listed the red pepper 🌶 twice. I love making my Sofrito but I can’t find Culantro it still comes out tasty. In two months I’m moving to Florida so I may have a better chance in finding it. I will try to grow it too.
That looks absolutely delicious!!!!! I definitely have to give this a try!! You’re absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing. And by the way you have a very beautiful home😄
A lot of the Mexican products you can find online on Amazon .. I live out in the burbs so some times I just order what I need since I don’t want to drive so far.. Amazon tends to carry a lot 😊 thanks for watching
Don’t know if someone told you but that Aji Dulce pepper is called a Scotch Bonnet I believe in English It’s to my knowledge the spicy and sweet pepper found in carribean areas, perfect balance in my opinion
NO, No, No, No!!! S Bonnet is an entier different specie. They are extreamly, extreamly, extreamly Spicyyyy!!!!!!!!! Aji dulce on the other hand--are sweetish & not spicy.

If I wanted to make sofrito for just ONE meal, would you say just buy one of each of the ingredients you listed? (I don't cook that much and don't want it to go bad or unused) Thank you in advance for any help 💗
I love this video thanks sooo much girl my moms bday is June 10th and we from Connecticut so we’ve had A LOT of puerto rican food and we loooove it but we reside in GA now and all she talk about is sofrito and potatoe balls so this year ima make her some. And hey where did u get ur shirt its dope?

Hey watching your video is amazing to me. But me being g cubin,Puerto Rican and black it has been so hard for me to diced what to cook my husband loves soul food but I love thats in my culture but I don't know how to cook Hispanic food besides taco can you please help seeing how you made the sofrito reminds me when my mom use to cook foe for me.
Hi 😊 thanks for watching .. I have a few Puerto Rican staples to get you started (rice, chicken, beans, empanadas) and I’ll be posting more starting next week! Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions please let me know
Thank you for the recipe I bought like home deos on how to make sofrito Thank you for the recipe I bought deals on how to make sofrito because I don't use store bought anymore because of the preservatives MSG and the sodium. Everyone makes it a little bit differently but I really like your recipe the only thing I would not do is you made yours too soupy because you had the food processor on high the entire time which practically Liquefied it there is something called the post button and other settings so it's a little bit more chunky As opposed to emulsion it. The other thing I would not do is I would absolutely not add store bought adobe
The video is the recipe .. keep in mind this is for a large batch. If you are making a small batch, let me know and I will send you how much I would use .. thanks for watching
I usually have it in the fridge for about 2 weeks .. you can also freeze them in ice trays and once they are frozen you can pop them out and put in freezer bags and just take one out each time you plan to use it. I use almost daily so the batch I made here lasted approximately 2 months in the freezer. Thanks for stopping by! 😊
They sell the recao (culantro) and the cilantro in “bunches” not “bushels.” A bushel = 60 lbs. Maybe you can make the correction on the description. 3 bushels of culantro and 3 bushels of cilantro is quite a lot.
🤣 thank you.. trust me.. when I first started cooking my rice was so sticky I didn’t even serve it 🤣 thankfully my boyfriend stuck around 🤣 and married me.. and he says I cook 10x better than his mom 🤣🤣🤣 she says it too
