Homemade Snowblower for SUV 

That is a great combination. I have an 89” International Harvester 3 point blower for a similar future project. Debating weather the Cherokee or a Silverado would be a good candidate. The Cherokee is older but has a short wheel base a tighter turn radius.

@@WillysTruckFarm Well we got it all together last weekend and we tried it out for 2 hours and we are throwing snow approximately 40 to 50 feet @ 2100 rpm on that 250 in the back. My house trailer is a 54 foot model and snow is landing right at the back of it. The blower speed is around 580 PTO speed. It's a little bit noisy right now as there is no wall up yet so hearing protection is a must. It's nice and warm in there that's for sure and I'm running with all the windows in the back open and everything is running very well. I adjusted the skid shoes so I'm not throwing dirt anymore which will help to keep the cutting edge from digging in. I'll keep you posted as the season progresses. The snow was light and only 6 to 10 inches deep.

@@VikingShipExplorer you should post a video on your channel. I had read that the ideal speed is 15 feet per second at the tips of the impeller. Set the rpm too high and the snow can actually accumulate on the auger because it will break down the uniformity of density and compact. If the rpm is too low then the throw distance is not enough. 15 feet per second is an average for two stage.

@@WillysTruckFarm As of right now I am still trying to get a feel for how everything is working...lol. Trying to find the sweet spot for rear engine RPM is proving to be a bit of a problem. Next summer I am going to change the throttle to something I can adjust so that it won't exceed 2300 RPM which seems to be the best setting for deeper snow. Now again we will see how it does in the warmer months February and March when the snow is wet. I am defiantly looking into the idea of putting a governor on it so that it will control itself when in deeper snow. Right now I have to power up and down by hand depending on snow depth and ground speed. We really haven't had enough snow yet to give it a good work out yet and get everything dialed in, but it's coming I'm sure...lol. It's a lot of fun and faster than my combine with a 12 foot blade on it. I should also mention the blower is a 540 PTO for I believe a 35 to 45 horse tractor. My gearing and pulley ratios may not be prefect yet as I loose torque if I don't throttle up when it gets into deeper snow. A governor might fix that problem???

@@VikingShipExplorer An easy fix is to get an aftermarket cruise control from an older car or online maybe. It will hold the rpm perfect.
