Homemade Tallow Balm - SO EASY!

I started making this balm for my son when he developed mild eczema around 2 months old. I couldn’t get rid of it with lotion or plain essential oils. I wanted to treat it as naturally as possible and then I heard about tallow (or beef fat). All of the tallow creams of balms online were upwards of $40-$50 for a tiny jar! So I decided to make my own and he hasn’t had a flare up since! #sweetbeulahfarm
Recipe:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup jojoba oil
1/2 cup tallow
20 drops lavender
10 drops frankincense
10 drops chamomile
Sometimes I switch up the other two fats with shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, etc but always keep the ratios to tallow the same. I also sometimes will add in about 1/4 cup of honey. Melt down all the fats, let it cool (preferably at room temp BEFORE putting in the fridge). Let it come to a butter like consistency and then whip with any mixer you have until it is light and and airy. Add essential oils if you choose!

Overall- this is just a quick easy DIY for a really great product for your skin (eczema or not- I use as a moisturizer) that beats paying the price for the online ones. It’s not the only way to treat eczema if that’s what you’re trying to use it for. Do your own research. Look at all of the variables as there are MANY MANY reasons why you might have skin issues. This is what we’ve had success with. My son’s eczema was incredibly MILD so I’m NOT saying that you SHOULD treat with this. It’s just a cheaper, cleaner, fresher, dupe! Thanks for all of the insight!

You can actually whip the solid tallow with the oils straight. Melting them together & putting in the fridge are unnecessary steps. Make sure your jars & spoons are properly disinfected.
@sweetbeulahfarm
@sweetbeulahfarm 3 месяца назад
@@AB4Jss yes you can! I just like to melt it all down because I feel it incorporates better as one solid vs solids and liquids. I also change up the fats I use - sometimes shea butter or cocoa butter and those are harder fats that you wouldn’t have as much success with in just whipping it. So this is just the method that I use with any of the different fats

It's not about "curing" it as much as removing what is causing the skin to react that way. Your skin is another way your body will remove toxins and other impurities. Peace be upon you. I took my kids who had eczema to my home country close to India which is Pakistan. The eczema went away. Then took my nephew who had it too and just one month of stay there made it go away. After a few years when the kids went to public pools it flared up again a little bit like you can say only on the inner sides of the elbows in my ten year old daughter, it came back also with my nephew who loves swimming it came back hand hit him hard. Now one of my other nephew who has never gone there and is twenty three years old has it really bad to this day all over his body. I suggest go to warmer place for an extended period like a month and avoid pools where microbial infections are more likely to attack those that are at risk with skin issues like eczema. May GOD heal us and our children from these GOD willing.

Best to Cut the processed foods out of your kids diet if there is any, plus any bad soaps etc , a 2 year old should not be having eczema. Actually no one should. Also, emotional issues can be a cause as well. I am not wanting to be a rude person, just noting this, we all know life is complicated. Most grains are not helpful in diet. Low nutrition anyway. And many seed oils are not good. But yes tallow is great for skin.

I appreciate this comment a lot and your other one as well about raw milk. There are A LOT of variables for sure. There is something to be said about nutrition but also something to be said about good tasting food and finding a balance between the two. We are not machines we are humans and God created good things for us to enjoy though we need to be mindful and have discernment on how we enjoy good (or not as “healthy”) foods. It’s all risk and reward and what we choose for our lives. I’d like to make a video on our food philosophy to address this type of thing! There’s no one right answer. I'm atopic myself. You should check carnivore diet for your baby. Eczema comes from inside. Doesn't matter if you can relieve the itching externally, it will come up again and again until the baby is cured internally. I know this because I've been battling since I was born until 30 yo. No PUFAs, no carbs (at least for a while), no perfum or shampoo, no teflon or any other toxic material as cookware, no internal devices like silicone, copper or even dental amalgams or titanium if you are an adult. Good luck ❤

But I actually did put this tallow all throughout my scalp, took a wide tooth comb and really massaged my scalp, let it sit for 3 hours or so, and then washed it all out. I had very minimal dryness after when normally it is bad even right after the shower. I’ve also found just adding rosemary oil to jojoba oil with the same process works well too. You can search through this thread and see and I also believe that a lot of these issues can be solved with food and diet. It just depends what you want to do for your family and such. What you think is worth doing. There’s info on here from others as well as just researching different anti inflammatory diets. But you can for sure HELP the symptoms with tallow and oils in my experience.

Yes its internal but the external is where the irritation occurs. If you can get the external environment under control (which you can with eczema), would you even notice you had it...would you even care? Its soothes babys so much when you can at least control the irritation. Doesnt work for all cases, depends on the cause of eczema.

Do you know of this helping adults with eczema? As a child I had it & now in old age, at 71, I have it again in the places on my scalp where your little boy has it. My hair is very thick so the heat from nape of neck upwards makes it even worse. It drives me crazy! Mxxx

I think it’s a healthy skin care product EVEN if it doesn’t help get rid of your symptoms. It’s still very good for your skin overall as a moisturizer.

You didn’t say how to store it, seeing you have no preservatives. There are preservatives on the market that are skin safe, I’m assuming you must refrigerate this.

We haven’t had any problems keeping this at room temp. We go through it pretty quickly though. Also keeping in an air tight glass jar is helpful, as well as storing out of sunlight.

You could keep in refrigerator but I’ve found that as it gets colder (in my car as I’ve traveled) the consistency really changes

Hi, I responded to this in somebody else’s comment about studies and such on lavender EO. I appreciate your comment and really suggest to anybody to do their own research and decide for themselves what they should be doing with any product.

You're adorable!! Thank you. By the way anything can be cured!! Especially skin issues. Anyone telling you otherwise either has dark intentions, or is a complete moron. Cheers 😊
