Thanks for taking the time to show us your workflow. I wonder how many of the EXPERTS making negative comments have ever taken the time to put together a video. Your welding looks like mine and it also holds. Wonder why so many experts are taking time out of their busy days to watch youtube videos?
Beautiful! Exactly what I was looking for and I knew it within 30 seconds. It's a little hard to follow because you are moving so fast but I get the general drift and something to copy.
Actually the ones saying turn up the heat , obviously haven't watched the puddles cooling. Speed might be off a bit but otherwise, thee is nothing wrong with your welding, I see good penetration and heating. Personally, I own a fabrication company and will be copying your concept for my shop. Great video
That was a good build. Thanks for previews in this vid I am going to take a look at that overhead camera mount next. I think you just got a subscriber.
Awesome project and very useful tool! Did you try it on 6mm or 1/4” flat bar? I tried this concept by balancing the jaws into the vise jaws and I can bend 3mm or 1/8” flat bar, didn’t try it with anything thicker as my improvised trial was a bit risky.
Take it u learned how to stick weld before u ever used mig painful to watch as a welder 🙈 but liking the tool might make one up myself very handy cheers for the vid 👍
Really Its A great idea, could you please mention the wielder you have used in this video, make n type, as we could not find these types of wielding mc in our place, so please mention ..
A Really liked the video ''Quick and Simple, I personally find the long drug out comments tend to put to ''Put Me To Sleep'' and for the Moron's who criticize any of your work, Don't you wish you could '''Block The Nay-Sayers remarks. Where Do These ''So Called Professionals'' Crawl out of each Morning. Anyhow, Thank you again and keep up the ''Great Work''. I am here to learn something, not ''Pick Apart'' Frivolous B.S. Respectfully, Jim P
James Price Well said. I enjoyed watching and learning too. Wish I could weld stuff like he did ☺, but I have only a small stick welder and blow holes in stuff !!
Nice little tool. You bend aluminium in the video...but how does it handle steel..? Whats the maximum thickness when you work with steel..2 or 3 mm, I guess?
I'm definitely going to weld something like this with my everlast this summer. Great project. I don't think my cheap vise will bend anything too thick though.
Not to be a nazi about it bit the more you know the better. The female part is the die and the male part is the punch and yes there is. In the shop we use a type urethane film placed over the die for cosmetic parts. As suggested an old inner tube or a piece of leather may do the trick though i think the inner tube would get shredded pretty fast. Just keep in mind that whatever you use the brake will eventually cut through it. rounding the edges of the die will help quite a bit but it will still cut through and leave marks after so many cycles. I dig this video though It's got me thinking on ways to improve it. :)
Cool idea! But isn't it a better idea to make one wich is 90% degrees (so from top to bottom) because now you cant bent further until you hit the axle of the vice
projectmayhemUK Brother, some genuine help here, and this will save you a SHIT ton of money, now admittedly they are not going to have the exact dimensions you are after, but they will always have stuff you can work with, the local scrapper mate. I would never buy from rob-bay aka shitbay etc, if you are a knife maker and need specific requirement metals, have a look at Yorkshire metals buddy, I buy a lot from them, they have a set delivery charge of £25 which may sound expensive, but that's country wide, and any weight. I generally never order anything less than 100kg so it makes sense, and a lot of the lengths are up to 3 metres long, far too big for me transport, and besides, it saves money on cutting charges if that is a concern for you. But honestly mate, that piece of steel, the 6mm bit you were using, yeah scrappers £2 tops! Get your ass down to your nearest mate, you can thank me later lol ;-)
Nice build, but that is not work for a vice as it can break the cast iron jaws, especially on these chinese import ones. It would be better to build a small hydraulic press for this work.
sorry but that was so painful to watch lol your welding is sooo bad ,watching you weld has made my teeth hurt it was so bad :( but hey good job and something I might look into doing later
Well looking bad is a good indicator of weld quality so it's not nothing. I also thought they were not great but I myself am not a great welder, and in this particular use they should be fine. If it were me I would be working at making the welds better because on another project it might be a lot more important. So I was hoping to see the welds get better as he went on but not so much. So pointing this out to him may get him to think about it next time.
