Homeopathy Explained

Homeopathy is a pseudo-science that falls under the broad canopy of alternative and complimentary medicine. Invented by Samuel Hahnemann in 1796 and developed by him in the following years, homeopathy depends on the ideas of like-for-like, where symptoms can be alleviated by dliuted causes of symptoms.
Homeopathy's popularity has waxed and waned over the years, with very few homeopaths existing outside Europe in the 1950s, but the practice has gained traction since the 1970s.

In Canada a couple of years ago there was an indigenous 11 year old girl that had leukemia. With chemo, her chance of survival was put at 75%, practically zero without full chemo. It was apparently tough and her parents wanted to stop the chemo and treat her with "traditional" medicine. The hospital wanted Children's Aid to intervene to force the treatment. A judge refused to sign off on it. Turns out the "traditional" medicine the family sought out was from a place in Florida, licensed as a massage parlor and run by some quack nutritionist. He wasn't even indigenous. She died of course. The family blames the chemo for killing her. Sad, really.

Real Life story here : i suffered from severe sinusitis as a child and after i stopped responding to anti-biotics , anti-allergy medicines/syrups etc the doctor concluded a surgery was necessary. Since i stay in india, homeopathy is really widely used and believed here so all my relatives suggested we give it a shot before going in for a surgery. I was given a shit load of homeo medicines that i had to take regularly. I was told it was a slow healing medical practice and it should cure my sinus eventually. As you can expect it didn't do shit in healing/curing. I had to suffer for 3-4 years without any medicines often not able to sleep at night with both my nostrils blocked. If only i knew the real truth behind this practice back then but i was a child i did as i was told. I eventually got my surgery done and never had any troubles since then. TLDR : DONT BELIEVE IN HOMEO ITS SHIT AND DOESNT WORK.

I have the exact same problem. I literally couldn't sleep at night when I was 9 because I couldn't breathe. My parents never took me to a real doctor so I didn't know surgery would help. I kept getting fed homeopathic shit and even at that age I knew it was garbage that was not helping me at all. I eventually got so frustrated with wheezing, sneezing and struggling to breathe that I refused to take the medicine eventually. I noticed that after getting my braces, my sinus issues improved. I'm guessing fixing my buck tooth moved my facial bones or dental plate in such a way that it helped. I still have sinus problems but it's not nearly as bad. At least I can sleep for 8 hrs max before my sinuses clog and I wake up sneezing.

its the same reason Dr. Oz is a quack who has national fame...real medicine is a cold thing, it does not always bestow hope or good feelings, and unfortunatly some people are so vain they want to hope when a situationi s indeed hopeless i mean, call me a masochist if you want, but id rather be told the cold hard truth about a medical condition i have rather than a cushy cozy version that bestows comfort and false hope when the situation is in reality quite grim but some people dont like that, they want hope, they want to beleive that everything has a cure and that if they just hang on desperatly to hope that their going to be ok but some of us dont like that, yes we feel its not comforting to know when your truly screwed, but we appreciate the honesty of knowing and what it allows us to do for example if i was diagnosed with terminal cancer and told i had 3 months to live, yes i would be shocked and probably deeply saddened at first, but knowing i have little time left would allow me to get the things done in my life i would want to before i die, it turns pain and sadness into a serious motivator to make things count while you still have the chance but thats the problem with this kinda crap...people have become too dependent on the idea of hope...so dependent that they will actively deny anything else just for the sake of being hopeful and yes i take a colder stance on this, for one im an atheist, which doesnt make me inherently cold-viewed, but it does mean im prone to accepting truth even if its uncomfortable, as opposed to false hope and wishful thinking, and sometimes things like that come across as harsh but the world is a harsh place, and reality can be harsh, i like to think its not so much me being cold about the world as me just knowing what things are and arent likely to happen or be true and trying to make the best decisions i can based on available evidence, but yeah, that means if someone i know is dyin of cancer im most likely going to tell it to em straight, not try and fill em with hope

Jinx Mangrove Water has been around for about 4 billion years, essentially coming into contact with every perceivable surface, and mixing with every conceivable chemical compound. It would stand to reason that every possible dilution has been made countless times through out water's history and bestowed upon us through the natural water cycle at rates of dilution far exceeding maximum effectiveness. If the base tenants underpinning homeopathy were sound, how are there any diseases left at all for humans to experience? We are mostly water and therefore made out of all the cures.

I agree about homeopathy, though it's worth pointing out that the placebo effect is something of a miracle in itself. A good chiropractor got me back on my feet and advised me on how to rehabilitate myself at a minimal expense. It took a long time, but with persistense and care I have overcome the problem and engage in normal to challenging physical activity. What amazes me is that many people's initial reaction to a condition like that is to suggest back surgery. I'm like, yeah if I want to live the rest of my life crippled and broke. In many cases people depend on modern medicine without much forethought. Medicine is as much a business as anything else, and they will try to hard sell just like a used car salesman. It has worked for me and my family members, spanning generations, economic differences, cultures and race, for a variety of ailments, even for weight loss from a specific area of the body. In MY opinion, it is similar to ayurveda, but cheaper and easier to obtain. This is the 3rd video I've watched from you, and enjoyed them thoroughly. Very well presented. Thank you! 👏👏👏

My mother used to work as a nurse in this allergy clinic that was owned by a doctor that believed in alternative medicine. An actual physician with an M.D. There was this one patient that saw the quack as a PCP - really sick dude. Had high blood pressure, type II diabetes, really bad heart disease, the whole nine yards. The doc took him off all of his meds (which included heart failure medication, daily aspirin, and some kind of blood pressure pill), instead electing to put him on an "all-natural" care plan consisting of vitamins and organic herb juice. The patient later died of a heart attack.

My parents ended up going to a homeopathic doctor who figured out my lactose intolerance within 15 min. He used tests that included me holding my mother's hand while he pushed here horizontal arm down. He gave me a diet that included not eating or drinking any lactose which means after my 12the year I was over my intolerance. I don't know how homeopathy works. However, this homeopathy doctor saved me from a lifetime to intestine damage.

There is even been work done to measure the effect of how it is delivered (e.g. a pill is less effective than an injection which is less effective than an operation). Homeopathy does not hurt anyone, even those who take it. To cause harm it would have to be more effective than water/placebo pills.....So do you believe Homeopathy works and can cause harm? Is that what your inferring? That Homeopathy works so well it could actually cause harm like pharmaceuticals? If not, then your comment is asinine and if its 'not really an issue for me' why say anything at all. Homeopathy has been criticized a lot, but the most prevalent criticism comes from people who do not have the slightest idea of what it is; and their judgment is based on naivety. The new evidence-based approach to homeopathy, thanks to the discovery of the memory of water by Dr. Gerald H. Pollack of the University of Washington in Seattle, finally homeopaths can explain with evidence the mechanism of action of their drugs and why they use infinitesimal doses.

I'm not sure if this counts as homeopathy but... There is a current trend extolling the abilities of CBD oil for many different conditions including pain relief. I have considerable issues with back pain and take both prescription & over the counter painkillers in copious amounts. Their effects were not as potent as I would have hoped, so I started taking CBD oil in low doses. No effect. As I increased the dosage I noticed a decrease in my pain. I now use both the CBD oil and the standard painkillers. I have no idea if this is simply a placebo effect or real pain relief; all I know is my pain is more manageable and I can almost lead a normal life after several years of intense pain.

All I can say is that there are people who have died, or have accidentally killed their children because they decided to use unproven homeopathic, or holistic "remedies". Healthcare isn't perfect (a topical example would be how freely patients are prescribed addictive painkillers, or at least where I'm from this is an issue), but it's built on a foundation of peer-reviewed, evidenced based materials. Healthcare workers use "best practices" that are continually updated as needed, or when new information comes to light. While I'm sure shady dealings continue to occur within the industry, for the most part it's full of people who are legitimately concerned for the well-beings of others. If homeopathy was legitimate I find it extremely hard to swallow that healthcare professionals would not advocate for it.

I wasn't convinced it was helpful. Lots of money wasted on sugar pills thru out the years. If she wanted to waste hundreds of dollars on herself, fine, whatever, but she sometimes bought me study-helping, or anti-stress pills for my early college days. That frustrated me to no end, cuz I refused to take them. I knew they didn't work on me from years prior. So, even before I knew of the details that you discuss in this video, I never felt anything positive from them. The placebo effect doesn't work on me. So...yeah, frustrating subject. small correction, if done the traditional way, there will be nothing of the original component as the dilution process will be so great, not a single atom/molecule of the original component remains.
