If you're suffering from migraine or chronic headaches and constantly using drugs, I suggest to think about homeopathy. During acute migraine attacks you can use certain remedies in emergency kits depending on symptoms. There is over hundred remedies that can be used for headaches. We will start from the most commonly used ones.
Nat-mur: Used on right-sided headaches but can be classified as headaches that starts from left and intensifies on right. Especially useful in migraines with aura. Can stop attacks if taken right at start of aura. Attacks that manifest with light and dots can reach to a point where there is numbness in hands and arms, and difficulty speaking. Sometimes patient can get paralyzed or have vertigo attacks. This can continue with headaches. Can progress without headaches, only with dizziness, having difficulty thinking.
Headache may feel like being hammered on the head. There may be nausea. Trigger by reflected light when attack is starting is quite interesting. Extreme sensitivity to light.
First remedy that comes to mind when patient is middle or high school. Should be considered especially when patient has an emotional problems or disappointments at school. On male patient, Calc-phos should come to mind.
Homeopathic remedies used for headaches should be taken at onset of the attack. Low potency can be used. I generally prefer 30C potency. 3 can be taken in the first 10-15 minutes. Remedy should be changed if attack is unaffected. No need to take again if attack has stopped. If attack has stopped progressing but hasn't completely stopped at least 30 minutes should pass before taking 4th dose.
