@someguy6075 Год назад
@@PixieLove5 In what universe does it make sense for insurance to write a policy specifically for sinkholes and then deny coverage based on a sinkhole? Or are you one of those people who comment without watching the video? The risk the policy poses to the company is irrelevant, the whole point of insurance is to pool and mitigate risk. It's up to the company to have an accurate model and either price a policy appropriately or refuse to issue one.

@@someguy6075 but to explain further on comment: an “act of god” is when something happens that’s beyond anyone’s control. You’re correct, a company isn’t going to write out a policy specifically for sinkholes. That’s why it’s called an “act of god”. That’s the policy name. It’s the same thing if a tree falls onto your home. If you can prove that there was nothing that could be done, then insurance writes it off as that act.

Take all of this stuff store it in movable trailers or pods units. See if insurance co will give you money to build a new house, and you reuse all these items thus saving your insursnce co money, heck when the house is bulldozed, the bricks can even be reclaimed, and reused on your new home. Several years back i did this to a home that was unlivable. Home was 10 yrs old. Me and 5 others had the house gutted of all valuable materials in a matter of less than a week. Had to rent several pods units to store everything we salvaged. Homeowner purchased new land, and rebuilt a house almost identical to the one that was condemmed by using the original blue prints. You can obtain copies of the blue prints from your local city hall. All homes have their blue prints on file. Needless to say it was fun salvaging all the items and then reusing them in the new house. Since i am a heating and air guy i reinstalled the original hvac unit, and did a lot of the electrical work. They built an entire development on the Sunshine Coast in B.C. On the side of an unstable hillside. People bought their dream retirement homes and had to move only a couple month after moving in. It devastated peoples lives. The developer can be sued, but in the meantime they need somewhere to live and keep paying bills.

They’re questioning how to handle it….well that’s easy…condemn it. Why does everything have to be so complicated? The documents he has proves it’s on a sinkhole and never should have been built there…so condemn it and allow this man to get insurance money so he can build somewhere else. Then make sure that property is on record to never allow building on it again. If he has to continue to wait for something to be done his house could crash in and kill him. If I was him though…I would already be packing everything and moving it into one of those portable storage containers to be moved away from there if the whole thing starts collapsing so at least you would have all your things.

Building homes and discovering they are on top of sink holes are happening more often than the public realize. Anyone remember the show " Hard Copy"? I remember they featured one of the first public stories about this, a young man was swallowed by a sink hole as he slept in back room of his house. His older brother was in front of the home at the time and couldn't save him. The local news had captured the older brother crying out and trying to dig his brother out with his hands as first responders were grabbing him and pulling him away. Through the years other people have gone to the press about discovering their homes were unleveled and causing massive damages due to cracks only to learn there was a sink hole underneath which caused the shift in its foundation. I can't say it enough to survey the land extensively and more than once and with more than one contractor.
@bigabiga3318

He may also need to talk to his life insurance policy holder. By knowingly his house was built on a sink hole, and publicly let everyone know about it, which is fine, and he decides to still live in the house. The life insurance policy holder could denied payment due to “suicide clause” or some other clause. I hope nothing happens to him, but he need to look into this immediately.
