Keeping it simple can really help on those tough days and seasons ❤️

I think we are all so quick to grab our phones or panic but observing is a skill all it’s own. I have to constantly remind myself too ❤️

Charlotte mason has a theory that good readers become good writers. You have to remember spelling, reading and writing are three separate sections in the brain and take the longest to tie together. I think there’s a time and place to take one sentence and break it down correcting grammar and structure but there’s also a time to let them just write in a cool note book with a fun pen. Even if the story doesn’t make sense and every word is incorrect. My son hates writing but it’s not because he isn’t creative or can’t think of stories, it’s physically writing. So I tried dragging out the old laptop and let him type things up. He sat one day and wrote TEN poems. I really feel like this is a “trust the process” thing. I’m sure one day he will write them on paper. Every year his writing, spelling and story telling has improved. If a child is struggling I’d find one factor that is working and run with it: oral narration, typing it out, being read to, reading to them, or even them telling you the story; you writing it down and then copying it.

My littles are usually running around playing with toys, watching a show or taking a nap. 9/10 they are just playing and the older have gotten use to the noise. Learn to work with distractions right? Lol
