Ugghh....same. Working out BEFORE my kids get up, I know is what is best for me. I love mornings, but I love slow mornings. Alone time. A slow cup of coffee. Working out does not sound fun during that time.🤣 But I know that is what is best for me to stay consistent. We are homeschooling for the first time this year, and you are right. It was sooooo much easier to drop my kids off at school, and head to the gym. I’ve always loved the idea of homeschooling, and I guess COVID is going to just have us jump right in.😊

I agree, working out before starting school works better. I wake up with husband at 5:30 a few days a week to workout together. And those days are so much easier because I’ve gotten that workout done and I’m mentally and physically ready for the day. And no I’m not a morning person. 🤪

Great timing! It has been a struggle to get my fitness in consistently. Being a mom is so demanding that we forget if we don’t care of ourself we cannot care for everyone else. Adding homeschooling on top of being a mom is a juggling act. I just keep give it my all and if I fall off I get back on. Give myself some grace. 😊 💖

Yes! Thank you! I have had 5 children; the year being pregnant and the year of nursing and all the baby things including homeschool leaves me zero fitness time. I was just telling my hubby that I need to get up at 6 and workout before he leaves for work. I've been having asthma attacks much more frequently and I know it's a combination of being in the house all day with the kids, and weight. Eating clean just helps me maintain and I need more. Great advice! Thank you so much. I thought it was just me being a slacker but it was so good to hear that yes it is hard to get a workout in with babies and homeschool; but I just need a plan. God bless.

Love this! For the first time in my life 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’ve realized the importance of a planned workout. I’ve labeled it my Turning 40 lightbulb 😂 I would love to see a daily workout schedule played out. I know in the past you’ve began to steer away from fitness posts, but I’m SO glad you’ve done another video on it. 😊 Thank you for being you!

Ahhh, so true. I've had to embrace waking up and getting right to it at 7 am this year. I'm usually a drop kids at school and hit the gym, but not possible now with homeschool + my daughters dancing for 15 hours each week at a studio that's 45 minutes away.

The only reason I get to be at home is because we have prioritized homeschooling, so I find it EASIER to workout now that I am a homeschool mom and not a working mom. Being a working mom was the worst (for me)! ❤️ I agree though that stay at home moms with kids in school have the most flexibility in their daytime schedules.

Yes, thank you for this video!! We are new to homeschooling (last year). I run my own online business, and I had such a hard time working in a workout, that I just quit. Trying to hold myself more accountable, let the planning begin!

Gah....I have been thinking and praying over this. I haven't had a fitness plan since my last little guy was born 2 years ago. I can tell that I am really missing that physical release. Thank you for the encouragement and just sharing your plan! Hopefully I can get a plan in place soon.

Thank you for sharing your fitness schedule! As a homeschooling momma, I love to see how other mommas are working their workouts into a very busy day. You'll be able to get up. It will be nice to get those first thing in the morning workouts out of the way and be ready to tackle the rest of the day. Also running while your daughter is doing her soccer practice is perfect for using your time wisely. I write down my workouts too.

I’ve been an athlete my whole life. Grew up riding and training horses, got into sports and gymnastics- now I do weightlifting and powerlifting, and I’m a homeschool mom of boys. Fitness and activity is a must for our house. It’s good for keeping the mind healthy as much as the body. Love the motivation to keep moms inspired to invest in health- it makes us better! ❤️

Love your fitness tips. I also get up at 5:30 am, and do my workout. It's hard to get used to it, but after a few years with this schedule, it's so good when you know your workout is done

Love this! I've been trying to figure out when to exercise as well with 3 kiddos homeschooling, and morning time (though it's really hard) is going to have to be my routine as well. Thank you for sharing your ideas of making it work and making exercise a priority. I know I definitely feel better about my day when I take that time to take care of myself.

Thank you for the update and encouragement. I just got back into fitness during this quarantine after taking the last year almost totally off as we started a journey as a foster family. I needed this reminder to make a feasible plan on paper for how it’s going to work once school starts in August.

Such great tips in this video, thank you!! I’ve recently started waking up earlier to get my workouts in as well, it’s definitely hard to do for me some mornings, but I never regret it once the workout is done. You have a great plan in place.

Love this video. Over the last 2 years I have been struggling with fitness. Prior to 2 years ago, I worked out multiple times per week at the gym and running. Our life changed and it became really hard to get to the gym. Slowly I got out of routine and stopped working out all together. Now I am virtually starting over with fitness. I have committed this year to working out 4 days a weeks for at least 20 minutes. It’s not much but it’s a start. Once I get into a routine and start feeling better, I know my time will increase.

These are great tips, Ashlee! I don’t particularly like working out. But, I know it’s importance. I may adapt this type of schedule into my life. It makes sense and seems quite doable. Especially because I am a 5 a.m-ish morning person. TFS!

Very inspirational!! I have a really hard time with little ones figuring out when to work out. And I'm like you, NOT a morning person! 😊 Going to figure out a plan that works though! Its so important!

I loved hearing about your planning process for the new school year! We are starting our 3rd year homeschooling and I’m still trying to figure out how to fit in all the subjects, plus find time for a 1-hour lifting session! I’ll be teaching a 1st and a 2nd grader this year!

Super helpful and timely for me :) I am also not a morning workout person (2 pm is ideal for me) but for our upcoming school year I know it will be better to get my workouts done early. It's just too easy to skip it when the day gets busy! I'll be up early working out in my home with you :) thanks for the tips!

I was just heavily convicted by Proverbs 31:17 yesterday! This video has perfect timing because I struggle as a homeschooling mom with juggling/fitting in all the things and the first to go is usually self-care. Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you Ashley love all of your content it's all so helpful. I am personally trying to shed a few pounds but as you said trying to bring in some health, any tips that you have or maybe even some specific workouts would be awesome, I always feel lost at what to do!

I prefer to workout around 10am also, but it does make for a later start for shower/homeschool. I do REALLY like to get it done before we start school because it makes me less cranky. 😂♥️

I love fitness too! I love weight lifting it's my favorite. Me and my husband always worked out together and we would say a prayer before and during our workouts to thank God and to glorify him in our workout ☺️😇 now I'm pregnant and gyms are closed and a lot has changed. So I've had adjustments that's forsure!! Thank you for your lovely videos you're awesome :)

I’ll be doing HIT 3 days a week and then walking/jogging while at football practice every night. I like to exercise at 7am before children wake up and before our school day starts.

I did a little happy dance at my gym tonight (maybe just in my head 😜) when I saw another fitness video from you! 🎉 I also am battling the need to get up at that time, or need to go after the kids after in bed at 8pm. Currently, I am just taking my butt to the gym after they're in bed because I am not doing well getting up early. So this was super relevant for me! Just getting back to the gym after months of walking hills (pushing my triple stroller), so I'm excited to get my strength back. Thank you for sharing this plan!

I’m a working mom ( teacher) since my kids go to school with me I can’t just drop them off.. when I tried to do it after school.. extra curriculars would get in the way. I committed to 5 am workouts. I’m up at 4:30. It’s hard at first but once you get in your routine you will LOVE it!!!

I started getting back into running in March during COVID. It’s been great! I found the Charge running app! It’s been a game changer in my running. I definitely recommend checking out the app! I also love doing my workouts in the morning so early morning is a must now that school is starting again! I love your plan! You got this! I’m a morning person though so ha!

Thanks so much! Very helpful! There’s a lot of wisdom in adjusting for the unknowns of all the new demands of this school year or season of life. I have a friend who works out mid morning after morning time but before independent work and lunch while her kids play outside. Another that does it in the evening or 4pm timeframe. I need to do an overview and start planning to do something again once we get fully settled in our new home. Any tips for exercise and dealing with adrenaline fatigue? thanks!!

I'm completely struggling with finding a workout routine/schedule. I like everyday to be the same and in the past 11 years ago when I first started my fitness journey I worked out at home during nap time then as the boys stopped napping I started working out in the morning, which was and is my very favorite as long as I get 8-9 hours of sleep, which was pretty easy when my boys were tots. I controlled everything! Then I wanted more out of my workout so a joined a boot camp class and started working out in the evening. That really took a toll on our routine and I ended up with some small injuries that later turned into a major hip injuries which paused my workout journey for a good two whole years. Since September of last year I have been trying everything to find the sweet spot. Morning are really hard since we have a small farm and when you live in Texas you got to get outside before the sun's up your melt...lol! And then of course there's homeschool, house stuff, ect. I have been aiming for 3:00pm but after schooling its like all my energy was just zapped out of me or we just aren't finished. I really like it yo be done and out of the way first thing in the morning! Then no matter what the day brings I got it in and done! Somehow we get there just keep swimming!

Afternoon workouts don’t work for me either. I have to be up and dressed by 0400 in order to get a workout done or it’s just not going to happen. I hate getting up early but fitness is more important than sleep. Sunday is my sleep in day (or until 0600 when we get up for church lol).

I was praying for a fitness video & was dancing for joy when I saw this. I’m a homeschool mom of 3. I’ve struggled for years with fitness for several reasons & years. Pain & my health issues that went undiagnosed for years. Thank the lord I finally found answers. I was diagnosed with Lyme this past Christmas Eve & I’ve had it over 20 years I’m 40 now so half my life. I didn’t know what normal felt like & constant aches & pains I was told was normal. I’m seeing specialist riding my body of Lyme & I feel like I have my health & life back. I feel like I can now actually be more successful at fitness workout than ever before. I never worked out in my younger years as I was born raised & worked on farms all my life so it was constant physical activity with little time to do much else. I have more energy than ever in my life so I’m ready to get into a workout again. What weight lifting equipment do you recommend & use? Id really love a weight lifting & cardio video too. What fitness programs or things on your website do you recommend for beginners. I’ve lost 30 lbs on Candida diet & Lyme treatments which I’m not quite done from Lyme specialist recently & would like to lose another 70 ish. If I was gonna purchase fitness or meal plan or anything from your website what would you recommend? Thank you for doing this video, & all the great content always. Your such an inspiration! PS sorry for the long comment.

Thank you for this! I needed to hear it. I am a first time home school mom my kids were at public school prior. I sued to work out like 2+ hours a day an hour lifting (Les Mills- loved it) then I would go and run 5-6 miles with the fitness instructor. I had a knee injury and then fell out of my work out 2 years ago and have been struggling since. I have gained all my prego weight back and I need to get back to it. It's the whole getting up at 5:30 that sucks!!! My knee stops me from running but I figure walking with weights will help. I was also certified NASM and I am a registered dietitian so literally no excuse :(

Somehow, actually planning workouts never occurred to me. I always thought I’d just set aside a time slot each day and make it happen. Surprisingly, I hardly ever followed through! 😉 Thank you for the tip! I just sat down and planned out the next 3 weeks as a trial run 👍🏻

Great video! I've been doing 6 days a week and I'm feeling burned out! 5 sounds more realistic! Do you recommend 2 days a week for cardio and the rest weight lifting? Also how long timewise do you recommend running? Love fitness videos! Have missed them ♡

Awe so excited for this, I also needed to adapt my plan for working out this year!! Question... do you workout upper body and then lower body and alternate then or do you do 3 full body in a week? Also I have noticed that when I’ve worked a muscle group hard that after two days is when the pain usually comes and then it’s really hard to do anything that works those muscles. Should I just exercise the upper and then the lower one time a week? Is that enough with cardio the rest of the week? I love your plan, I really would like to lose these last 10 lbs that just seem impossible to lose!! ❤️😊

She has a fitness videos in her play list from a few years back that answers this question, but if I remember correctly, I believe see does two muscle groups at a time but keeping them relatable i.e. back and biceps. But she may be changing it up this year. Anyways I remember the video being very helpful and explained how to plan a workout super well!

I don’t think it has anything to do with being a homeschool mom vs public school mom. It’s about priorities. I’ve been a single woman, a married woman without kids, a mom who worked part time and a stay at home mom, now this year homeschooling a kindergartener. I have NEVER “had time” (truth MADE time) to workout regularly. I’ve never prioritized it and always blamed it on something else. I’m hoping one day my light bulb and give a care will finally click on 🙈

SO glad you put this up! I was JUST thinking about how I was going to get back into working out with homeschooling this year too 😨. I used to work out at 10ish am. About 5 years ago I was working out regularly (love weight, hate heart rate going up... But gotta do it). I was in the best shape of my life, but life encroached and I slowly quit. With getting into late 30s my body really changed when I stopped...in the negative. Started doing boot camp style at a CrossFit gym for a while right before shutdown. Now I'm totally out of habit again and 38... It's not getting any easier. I'm intimidated and afraid I will never be fit again. It's become so hard for me to believe I can do it. I'm going to work on a weekly schedule 🤞

Remember to start back slowly and work your way up. You will be surprised how much your body remembers and quickly you get back in the swing of it. You got this and yes you can be fit again no matter your age!

Do you find you're fatigued the rest of the day if you do an early morning workout? It's my most reliable time of day, but it makes it hard to keep up with my kids (six under 5). With the addition of homeschooling and gardens, I'm struggling to get regular workouts. Of course, with the inherent chaos, I also struggle to stick to a routine.

Same here as far as the whole getting up to workout..😩! So do you allow yourself enough time to also shower/get ready for the day after you workout and before you eat breakfast with the kids? I do an hour workout or at least try for an hour so I find myself rushed when doing it in the AM, non the less a better time to do it.

If you only do lifting workouts 2 days a week how do you split up muscle groups? Im used to the typical back and biceps, chest and triceps etc... so it typically takes a solid 4 days. 😅

Great question, so when I run I count that as a leg day so I remove that day, and just make sure the hiit days are hitting my legs with jump lunges etc. So I have chest and triceps Back and biceps And shoulders+legs+ abs

YESS!!! Surprise, they are older and more capable of doing more on their own, however, their work is harder and more in-depth, so they need you more. Bahahaha! I've been dealing with that this year too, as my oldest hit 7th grade. :)
