That’s going to be a great garden spot, bro! I have never done anything like this per say, but I have planted a garden every year for the past 5 years. Lucky for me, the former owners of my current home had already prepped the land and had gardened in the same area for 15 + years. You’ll find out, the produce seems to taste better when you grow it. It’s a great feeling reaping the harvest of your labors.
Our child birth class was a 2-day commitment but it was super helpful and made us much more comfortable heading into the hospital. Constantly impressed by the garden progress. We don't currently have the yard for that, but we did just manage to kill a succulent somehow...
Hey Matt, we loved both for very different reasons. They both offered a different experience. Chicago 'felt' more like a big city vs. Portland, while Portland gave us much more access to 'outdoor activities' that we love like; hiking, the ocean, nature, etc. Chicago has Lake Michigan, which is amazing, but it's not the Oregon coast. Oregon also has mountains. haha. The pay was higher in Chicago, but there are some massive companies based in the Portland area that would be similar in pay, depending on what you do for a living. We overall, loved the 'feel/vibe' of Portland. People were generally nicer, in our experience, and we found ourselves branching out more. Walking around Portland was more fun for us, but the public transit in Chicago is almost second to none. I suppose it depends what you're looking for in a place to live/visit. Hope that helps. happy to answer any more specific questions you might have!
