Am I the only one who loves the fact that the entry items and tasks are all things that are associated with beginnings? John bites an apple, as obvious Genesis symbolism. Rose has to smash a glass bottle, like how one christens a ship's maiden voyage. Dave had to wait for an egg to hatch, as in, wait for something to be born. And Jade had to break open a pinata, usually an invitation to begin one's festivities.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs out of this comic. This is so freaking intense and continually blows my mind. They all are thrown into a world where they are faced with difficult decisions, living, decisions with severe repercussions, and assuming a great role which they may or may not survive. But this is only the beginning.
things were so different back then. Rose gave off a kind of "Mandy from Grim adventures of billy and mandy" vibe, John seemed a little more serious and less clueless, and Jade always seemed to know what was happening. they all turned out so different by the end...
I showed this flash to a friend, explained it to him, and told him it was Homestuck. He said he would check it out and I'm like, "Yes!" Seriously, it's hard to get people into it when there's nothing that makes them want to read it.
TV Tropes brought me here eventually. After like three years since I first saw the page and realized it was even more convoluted than the others, I actually read it for the first time about two months ago because I realized no-one was posting anything interesting in /tg/quest anymore. Looks like Jade and Jane are actually the only ones who make it.
+Killer Cake I'm getting sooo many people into homestuck. I've been reading for 2 months on and off and I've gotten 3 people into it. Getting all the people into it. All the people.
Was easy for me. My friend is a huge fan of comics, manga and all things nerdy, so I just showed him some homestuck music to his tastes, told him what homestuck was and done.
i love this flash. when i first saw it i watched it 3 times. i got so excited. it seems so trivial in comparison to recent events, but it was and still is a really amazing part of the comic.
I am in love at how Homestuck seamlessly makes all these events culminate at once for these videos. Rose's entering is done so perfectly here. She knows _exactly_ what to do now an is so ready, and Dave's mistakes (because he has no idea what he's doing yet) only hinder her. She just dives off that waterfall like there's no tomorrow, because she know her Kernelsprite's gonna be there now! She's prepared all she can to enter Sburbia and that's awesome.
2:34 - 3:01 is my all-time favorite part of the entire homestuck soundtrack. It begins with a simple but effective riff, starting off strong with a nice melody. But with every measure up until 2:47, a new instrument or louder bass is added, building the intensity of the scene. After 2:47, the building of the intensity stops, but the song keeps going. So you just get to reel in the awe of how loud and insane the song has gotten. Until at 2:58, everything culminates in this massive burst of every instrument playing the same chord at once. I fucking love this song in case you haven’t noticed lol
This really shows how much homestuck has changed, I'm on ACT 6 ACT 3, and this feels so so much different. I will now classify Acts 1, 2, 3 and 4 to be like a different arc or something
Just watched this for the first time in over five years and it still feels just as compelling, as dramatic, as tense, as incredibly impactful as it did when I first read the comic. That transition to John for the last refrain always made me pump my fist and cheer. Now, the better half of a decade later - it's no different.
A long time ago someone drew a picture of Sollux and I loved it. They told me about homestuck and I forgot about it. A few years later, a friend told me about homestuck and I tried reading it but couldn't get passed naming John. A year later some of my favorite cosplayers on youth e made homestuck videos. I looked it up on RU-vid and found a reading if it. I put it on and... Now I can't stop xD that was a few years ago. Haven't finished it yet, but planning to
***** I was going to agree with Jude here but then you provided proof. Not many people do so and its amazing you did. I am glad I know this information now!
It's not, actually. All of the MS Paint Adventures stories and panels are drawn in Photoshop, with the sole exception of the very first page of Jailbreak, which was made in MS Paint. It's meant to look like MS Paint's pixelated style, though, hence the name "MS Paint Adventures" for the website.
I'm looking back on this and I almost tear up seeing these kids who I've watched grow up back when they most they had to think about was the next Nick Cage flick or what they were gunna upload for SBaHJ. So much has happened and they've all developed in unimaginable ways to defeat the impossible. Hiveswap looks promising, and I hope and pray that it leaves as much of an impact and has just as much of a compelling story about growing up as Homestuck did.
I've never gotten far past this in Homestuck (and tbh I didn't understand a lot of what led up to it, since I was being forced to read it by a friend even though I was falling asleep), but it doesn't surprise me that even people who've read the whole thing still consider this one of their favourite songs from it. It's so good.
Remember when we thought Jack was a huge problem? OH HAS STUFF CHANGED But none the less this flash and cascade are just amazing, and not just the songs that play, but the events.
when homestuck wasn’t about relation ships trolls with candy canes for horns people wearing pajamas and skull people dead people scratches discs bubbles literal gods the old times where it wasn’t a confusing mess of a story
I remember this being the first flash I watched, when my older sister was reading Homestuck. I believe I was 7 or 8 at the time and now I'm 14. Needless to say, I got an earlier start than some.
if the sburb install screen popped on my pc id lose my shit like karkat....why? who in their right mind would trigger the genocide of humanity just for the CHANCE to become god of a universe?!
Dang that whole little sequence around 1:10 with rose and dave really encapsulates what makes this thing good--at least to me And wow, 3:29 is a perfect representation of all the shit that makes me incredibly uncomfortable about homestuck! I'm glad i never read homestuck Back In The Day. Makes stuff like the Bill Cosby laptop or mentions of "ethnic weddings", none of which were meant to make me feel as uncomfortable as they do, so much easier to look at clearly than it would be if i had any nostalgia for this stuff Makes it almost a time capsule in a way
I’m like 4000 pages in, every troll is an asshole except for Tavros, they are just all assholes, Aradia and Tavros were the only nice ones, it feels like every page is just filler, the trolls just got to the medium in like 1 page
