Very Good EarthBound Hack made by Toby Fox aka. "Radiation" The sound is kinda cut off, because of lag. OST: • Earthbound Halloween H... - Megalovania / rengomemes rengomemes
Dr. Andonuts lost his son's soul,as 3 another souls when Ness and i don't remember others have beaten giygas, but have been stucked in the past,Andonuts went mad. Lol it's a normal reaction,so why not
@@kreng872 Actually, Ness and co. have been sent into an alternate timeline by defeating Giygas in the past. So, the timeline in which Giygas was an actual threat, was left without heroes, and Dr. Andonuts took the entire blame for it, internalizing that into soul-crushing guilt.
I love how the admittedly dark and depressing scene is immediately rendered completely hilarious when megalovania starts playing and dr andonuts tells you you lack hatred
@@desko2041 He's from a different time, sweetie. (The 2000s and early 2010s. You young gays and young transes have no idea how good you have it compared to any other time in modern history.)
Today is Undertale's 4-year anniversary. It's insane to believe how far Toby Fox has come from a simple Earthbound hack, to his own indie game, meeting Masahiro Sakurai and beating him at his own game and getting a character and song from said indie game represented in Smash and now being able to compose music for an upcoming Game Freak game.
It's been 7 years, and yet almost no-one has mentioned how Dr. Andonuts appears as Uboa from Yume Nikki. It's kinda sad that there's like 5k comments about Megalovania, but Uboa is actually more suprising, because it was not originally Toby's creation. Uboa was probably what gave Toby inspiration for the design of Gaster.
for real, this is kind of a gold mine for lore imo. dr. andonuts is glowing blue, has a roundish head and small round body, megalovania is playing as you fight him, and not to mention he even dodges the first two attacks until the music kicks in. very interesting...
I completely agree, it that creepy pasta as a kid terrified me a lot more than gaster did, I found it far more horrifying. Also I wondered if that was the model inspiration for gaster since they looked similar. I ended up finding in a gaster related video that indeed it may have been an inspiration, and after watching this video I believe it even more
Like holy shit i just realized that some of the undertale ideas are actually foreshadowed in this, especially the idea of killing someone who did not want to fight. This is one dark hack and I love it
I also really like Toby's interpretation of Giygas. If you've seen AVGN's review of Earthbound, you'd know that he believes Giygas is an omnipresent being. The manifestation of hatred essentially. He brought up a Metallica song where the band was singing about that same being. So is this being present in Undertale? Yes it is. Flowey.
All I can think about is the still ominously, floating Giygas in the background after the battle. He's just like, "Hey, anyone gonna fight me? You know, the Cosmic Destroyer? Embodiment of Evil? .....No? ....Ok...." In all seriousness, he did a great job, considering he was only a teen!
After years, I finally realized how Toby did the sprite for the Id. It's a heavily edited sprite of the 2nd form of Graham Jones from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
1:49 this is honestly the biggest piece of evidence of mystery man being gaster. The sprite is a heavily edited picture of uboa from yumi nikki, who is the inspiration behind the mystery man sprite, who is also being used to represent a mad scientist who is responsible for all the evil things in the game while not being directly malicious. Everything we know about gaster may not be set in stone, but the similarity is to big to be a coincidence.
I'm about to finish the hack, it's pretty good. Toby says that he "gets embarrassed when people remember of a thing that he did when he was 16". I'm 16 and I could not even in 20 years do and write such thing. If it's because of the swearing, whatever, nobody is a saint.
I’d say it has to do with bits of the writing and story feeling really try hard with the swearing and the shock value. I can definitely see why he wouldn’t look back so fondly on it, but you can see bits of the writing most people would know him for in Undertale. Toby Fox has definitely improved since then, and the Hack really shows
When I played this game, I laughed my ass off when I saw how much damage PSI Bitchkill Omega did...then my heart stopped when I realized that would have been a definite 1-shot to my party.
God this brings back memories, downloading ROM hacks and mods for classic games just to squeeze out every inch of play out of them. I remember ripping this track from the game because it was pretty sick and erie. I am about the same age as Toby Fox so I was only around a year younger than him when this came out. Which is probably why I found the cussing to be A+ comedy at the time, though now I that I remember it from this video, it was quite hilarious.
+KandyMan971 Not really. The Id was the only rational part of Andonuts brain, and when that was gone when you killed it, all that was left was hatred. Hatred leads to cursing.
Toby when making the original Megalovania: Wanted to make it as a little theme that plays when you fight Dr. Andonuts Toby now: It's like it never goes away...
MEGALOVANIA and sans jokes aside, this is pretty sad. A monster, wanting nothing more to be left alone and to suffer by itself is being killed, pleading for the children to stop while they can’t do anything to stop it.
It _is_ worth noting that for all Andonuts begs, his own self-destructive impulses have _also_ led him to kill almost everyone in Winters. Killing Andonuts really _is_ what a hero would do... which kinda' makes it even _more_ sad. He's a cornered animal, so full of vitriol and undirected loathing, and there's nothing anyone can do.
@@harrisonfackrell Honestly, if anything (disregarding the slurs Andonuts shouts before the fight) his rage makes a lot of sense. His only option is to go into a state of delirium to try and stop the torture. He's essentially using his intrusive, seething rage to fuel his PSI attacks.
Varik could possibly be Ness actually. I heard a neat theory regarding the first phase of Andonuts, and how Varik is possessed by Ness. Ness was stuck as a robot eternally in Cave of the Past, and also appears in the game over of Halloween Hack.
Varik honestly kinda reminds me of Ninten He's quiet, strong, dependable, and fights through unseen horrors despite the fact that he's not the strongest guy around by any definition. Regardless, he still came up victorious, and somehow mentally unscathed. Now he's getting a much-deserved rest and is gonna live the rest of his life how he wants. Good for you, man.
Hopefully this doesn't become a vicious cycle, where people start a bunch of comments like mine and then people complain about them, and then it continues indefinitely.
[Obligatory comment referencing Homestuck and/or Undertale in reference to the use of Megalovania, despite this being the original appearance of said song]
I honestly find this boss fight really sad, it starts with andonuots trying to be a pacifist, at the end of the first stage, he talks about how you aren't heroes. This hack takes place in a universe were ness won, but died, andonuots feels guilty and goes mad, but one of the saddest parts is the one of the names of his attacks, if you did not know, the first move you get is named by you, people are told to put something you love, and andonuonots put hugs, and that makes me really sad.
Well, Ness and co. didn't die - their spirits have just returned into another timeline. Didn't make a difference to dr., though, who never knew about it.
I love how people think that the hack is super good and Toby thinks so too but Toby's actually ashamed of the hack and calls it 'bad ROM hack with swears' lmao
The fact that Megalovania, originating from an Earthbound ROM hack, is in an official Nintendo game featuring characters from Earthbound still blows my mind
I'm glad that Megalovania has been around to stay, Toby really has improved through the years. This version has to be the best Megalovania in my opinion, I just like its association with Earthbound and because it just sounds better.
i agree, this one is my favourite! it was made under severe limitations and has the connection to this hack and fight. the undertale one is genuinely my least favourite only because its so stripped down that it sounds horrible compared to this one (and the homestuck one)
Why are people getting so worked up from undertale fans talking about undertale, they are both good games. Just because someone is talking about a different game does not mean you have to yell at them in. The comments. Also just because the undertale fanbase isn't that good doesn't mean you have to yell at them to go home. It is just opinions everyone has an opinion. If you went to a comments section and talked about a game you like and then people start yelling at you, you would most likely feel bad.
We would, but the problem lies in the fact that ever since Undertale came out, it's fans(who are most likely 10-11) don't seem to know which version of Megalovania belongs to which game. And thus, anytime they hear the song they automatically think about Undertale.
@@gemmoyo9675 I am an Undertale fan. I am twelve. I know that earthbound (halloween hack) is the original, and then it rightfully got remixed by the owner of the soundtrack to be used in Undertale. I don't like when people yell at me. Yep. Ehh... That's it, I guess.
@João Felipe Corrêa da Silva Exactly. The narrator is Chara, so why would Chara say "It's me, Chara" with red text when Frisk is looking in the mirror? Chara was corrupted by you, not Frisk. And Chara takes Frisk's body in genocide but you control the body. Little confusing but... Yeah. You do play as Chara in genocide but it's all really your fault for starting the route.
@@krisdreemurr1167 Chara says "it's me, Chara because he stops caring about everyone, since you're killing them. Chara do not posses you, he's the narrator.
+Zirazz Undertale sure is famous on social media. No one can not say it isn't, even if you don't like the game, you got to admit, people talk about it a lot.
+todd1701 dont get me wrong, undertale was my favourite game of 2k15, and it still is. Toby Fox is the reason why i tried out Earthbound, and then his Halloween Hack Version of it. I didnt expect to get ran over Undertale Fans though xD
+Zirazz Lol, and I wasn't actually thinking you didn't Undertale, all what I meant to say is that it is very famous, even if a person doesn't like it, they still are going to hear a lot about it. And I am a fan of Undertale, and I may one day get Earthbound, and try the Halloween hack. But let me just say, if Toby was to make a sequel of Undertale, I would actually play it, because Undertale is such a good game, well, to me, anyways. But TRUST me, if there's a game that Toby has worked on, or at least done something on, there's NO way you wouldn't see Undertale fans on it.
There's something so cosmically funny about the first ever appearance of megalovania, which is now in Smash, being preceded by the line, "tldr; eat shit f******"
This megalovania is the best one imo I love the work Toby puts into all his work and how he at such a young age managed to make something as brilliant as this.
