The cut scenes, story and narration for the Homeworld games were on a level that made every sci game look foolish by comparison. I never played the games, but always marveled at the cinematics. They would make Carl Sagan and Arthur C. Clarke proud.
@@lobbyskids2 the science is almost not even there though the story and lore is whats consistent a race that once had a powerful holding that descended into holding one mere desert planet was United by their ancestors ruins and embarked on their journey home
it is to be honest which makes it amazing, the people of hiigara were once an empire thousands of years ago and so many stories to tell just from this setting, political intrigues, battles even in black holes, like wow man this is very amazing world making that everything is possible
Jesus the music in during the first core part is just mind blowingly perfect. Watching these videos always make me sad because I'll probably won't make it to the interstellar era of humanity. I wish we would unite and look to the stars instead of fighting each other for dirt and power. :(
They still make games on such level, but morons like you are too lazy to look up. Fucking nostalgic idiot, many old games were of even shittier quality but yeah, nostalgia glasses
@@Solaxe you are pretty worthless as a troll. spamming comments of people liking something claiming they want nothing but drama when you're literally the only one posting spam and hate FOR drama. how bored and self loathing are you?
Man, I shed tears when the Bentushi blew themselves up. Then again, "The Vaygr most likely picked up on the explosion" DID YOU SEE THE BLAST RADIUS? I think even back here in the Milkyway a couple of astronomers would've had chills up their spine, stop whatever they were doing, look at each other and go "...what was that just now?"
Ok seriously, what is up with the ending? "[After the hyperspace cores were united] Ancient conflicts came to an end." Why? How? "The Eye of Aran was discovered." The what? Why has this never been mentioned before? "It was opened by the power of the three." Why? Slow down! "A great network of hyperspace gates, perfectly preserved in the void..." STAHP
Lord Zephyros Well, the company did on planning making Homeworld 3, there are even rumors that they are working on a story. But its been a dead scent since 2008, I think.
John Hutchins I just looked up what you said, you are right, HD remake are being created and I am VERY excited for that! But the Homeworld 3 is still unconfirmed, and the new one being made is a prequel with a different name.
***** Homeworld's story takes on a larger scale, unlike StarWars or Halos, which focus more on the individuals. That leaves a profound feeling for the players to think, interpret by themselves. Me, personally, freaking love this feel!
Yuwen Taiji It does & doesn't. But certainly the scope that it took to explain it was more grand....although I think Star Wars & Halo still have the opportunity to exceed the Homeworld Series. After all, they are all Journey's of the Soul. This is all religion, in adventurous format. It's purpose is to activate the greatness within you, by touching upon the very image of God, piece by piece, & then finally as a whole. It's just short of God & Godhood, because The Journey continues...& that is where we get all these awesome games. :) The Hyperspace Cores are Thought, Feeling, & Action. The Hyperspace Gates are Possibilities & Opportunities. Karen S'jet is basically Aphrodite, our adopted mother, who represents Feeling (empathy) Makaan is technically Hades in this setting, who represents Thought (psychopathy) & is purposefully used as a "Sacrificial Ram" to fight against in order to give you Artificial but real Challenge (Chaos that is not actually necessary for your development, but is used to accelerate it). The Bentusi confuse me a little bit, but they appear to be sortof the balance or something. Idk. However, in real life, Makaan appears to be more like the current enemies of Freedom, found here at home (America & The West) & in the Middle-East (& soon to be all of The East). I could go over & over the rest of the details, but absolutely, this game is good religion.
i hope im not the only one Crying over the lack of content since 2003? And abit of this story as well. Just went through the game for the third time. Beats the hell out of alot of todays games.
Oops, I will change the title. About the aspect ratio, I was only so limited when using iMovie, I knew it would bug some people, but there is nothing I could do at the time.
that1dude0092 They're outsourcing the franchise to Blackbird Interactive, THE ORIGINAL CREATORS of Homeworld. They're the senior developers of Homeworld that left Relic Entertainment to create their own studio. They're currently working on Homeworld Shipbreakers which will be a prequel to Homeworld 1 set on Kharak. (Originally this project was called HARDWARE shipbreakers completely independent with Homeworld but Gearbox and Blackbird signed a contract which allowed them to use the IP and obtained more funding for the game). I am actually extremely pleased with how Gearbox handled this. I was worried when they bought the Homeworld IP but they're actually doing it right this time. They're handing over the development to the original creators. It's too bad the narrator and the voice actor for the Bentusi (Campbell Lane) passed away last year );
@@jaquigreenlees Ikn who made the Homeworld series. I still has t installed on my PC and play with a friend of mine sometimes. H3 will be my 1st ever prepurchased game!
I played this game in french, and by god it's amazing how good the dubbing was. I actually prefer it (maybe for Nostalgia reasons). But the english one is just as good, after seing it.
Also, it just struck me, but imo Homeworld 2 takes a lot from Dune by Frank Herbert. I can see a lot of similarities. Be it in tone, atmosphere, or events.
It's kinda annoying how the remastered cinematics aren't as good, the voice acting, punchy editing, everything but the resolution and bitrate were better originally
Great graphics and cutscenes and arguably better multiplayer, but man, MandaloreGaming had a lot of points when it came to the offness of HW2's story especially with Cataclysm/Emergence in mind.
I have no idea why they abandoned the realism of the first game for this strange, quasi-religious theme in the second one. One was hard sci-fi, the other tries too hard to be mystical and ends up sounding stupid.
The fact that it doesn't follow up with Cataclysm/Emergence also doesn't help. And then there's the amount of deus ex machinas, like that awesome yet also stressful endgame.
I love this game but the only thing I didn't like was the fact the art of the salvage corvette was lost in the sands of time. That would be the only explanation for the shitiness that is the marine frigate.
Thanks for uploading this, but the title of the video needs to be fixed. These are homeworld 2's cinematics, not homeworld's. Also the aspect ratio is off. Take a look at 3:00 in your video, specifically the circle in the center of the screen. Now look at /watch?v=LFXjGWmTY64&t=2m30s (the video should start at 2:30 for you. Just add youtube.com before it since youtube won't let me past full links.). Notice the circle is a perfect circle.
+Mr unitato. the progenitors built two means of interstellar travel, one a massive network of hyperspace gates that are in fixed positions around the galaxy, the other, the hyperspace core is essentially a mobile hyperspace gate meaning that any ship that houses it will be able to transport itself and any ships in formation anywhere else in the galaxy at any time.
