Homolovi State Park -Winslow Arizona “Homolovi” is Hopi for “Place of the Little Hills” - the traditional name for Winslow, Arizona.
Homolovi State Park now serves as a center of research for the late migration period of the Hopi from the 1200s to the late 1300s. While archaeologists study the sites and confer with the Hopi to unravel the history of Homolovi, Arizona State Parks provides the opportunity for visitors to visit the sites and use park facilities including a visitor center and museum, various trails, and a campground. Several covered picnic tables are located throughout the park. Pullouts provide the opportunity to observe wildlife in this park of over 4,000 acres at an elevation of 4,900 feet.

Nice video, Russ. I stayed overnight in Homolovi campground in 2019. Before COVID, it was easier to find an unoccupied site. Now it takes reservations long in advance. It must be the same everywhere. Now, Petrified Forest, here we come ! The Painted Desert, pine logs turned to stone, old buildings, plenty of wonderful things to explore. If you continued East on I-40, you would join US Rte 191, then North towards Canyon de Chelly (quite some distance though), another wonderful natural site to discover. Maybe some other time. RICHARD

Stayed a few years back. Great sunsets! Great access west even as far as south rim of Grand Canyon. Sacred place for Hopi as ancestors for their people lived there. Thanks for tour of park.

Wish we could have seen a bit longer video of the Native American Code Talker Heroes, that's always very interesting. Great video notwithstanding! Do you ever see any Rattlesnakes Russ...?

I camped here last May, was very nice. Lots of info and nice exhibits at the visitor center. I really enjoyed hiking up to the ruins. Campsite was a bit unnerving due to warnings to watch for rattlesnakes. Thankfully I didn't see any. So glad you made this stop. I enjoyed seeing this place again.

Another beautiful video.👍👍😳🎶. Really is amazing that ancient peoples could live in desert year round. Then too, was probably more wild game for food, clothing, etc. Thanks for the trip.
