And today we are putting them head to head in a direct specs comparison to see just what the differences are between two very similarly matched motorcycles.
G’day! I’m Kwackajack an welcome to another episode of the versus series. I love both these machines in their own way, so I test rode both of them and personally I liked the suzuki a bit better.....The engine is a peach and the quick shifter is the best in the business.......no joke. I've ridden bike's twice the value (BMW, Aprillia, KTM and Ducati) and that suzuki gearbox just beats them hands down.

Great insights from everyone! 👏 I'm thrilled to be part of this conversation, especially since I've just placed an order for the 2024 Suzuki GSX-S1000. However, it's a bit disappointing to see that neither the Honda nor the Suzuki come equipped with cruise control. @DavidsRides, I completely agree with you - it's surprising that even after five years, these bikes haven't incorporated such a simple feature. The old MT-10 already had it back in 2016! And to all contemplating Suzuki vs. Honda, let's keep this dialogue going! Share your experiences and thoughts on what sealed the deal for you. Can't wait to join the GSX-S1000 crew! 🏍🔥

Out the two,went for the Suzuki, wins on price alone,to be fair,its brilliant, unsure about the lights,but now set right ,they are very good.Mpg is average for me around 46 on a 40 miles commute daily, weekend use its gone below 40 mpg. This is not a slow machine,enough power in the right rev range to entertain most riders . So far 6 months ownership and added a small screen as makes so much difference at 70+. Great video, thanks.

To start- great review! Really well thought out, and tailored for buyers in this market. My choice is Suzuki 100 %. Power, handling, and braking all seem to be strong with both bikes. However, with higher quality parts, better fuel consumption, AND a larger fuel capacity- no contest. Then add a way better MSRP, it's a no-brainer. Oh, and I happen to love the styling on both bikes, so for me, it's a tie in that category. If there is one word I use more than any other when I talk about Suzuki engines, it's bulletproof. I have had my daily rider in the shop and my good friend was kind enough to loan me his Gen 1 Hayabusa while my bike was in repair. I'm used to a BMW K1200 RS, and going from a comfortable more standard position to the aggressive Hayabusa took some getting used to. However, now that my neck and shoulders are used to it, this Hayabusa has totally changed my opinion of Suzuki across the board. I am in love with the engineering and overall thought that Suzuki puts into their products. My BMW will stay in the garage for now, and my new, 2023 GSX-S1000 ( grey & black) will be my first string. I found last year's model with 500 miles for under 8K! SOLD. Sorry Honda a valiant effort. Oh and by the way, my loaner Hayabusa, just turned 95k miles and blows my hair back every single time I turn her key. Bulletproof.

I ended up getting a CB1000R blk ed. I probably would have grabbed a GSXS but there were none available in the state (250-mile radius). There was one CB1000R in stock. I'm happy I ended up with the Honda, but I would have been just as happy with the GSXS + the cost savings. The difference is just about a full exhaust + Pwr Cmdr, which feels mandatory given the lean tunes every OEM is loading the bikes with.

Great review! I hadn't even considered the CB, I absolutely love how it looks (Can we get a headlight like that on the GSX-S? Please Suzuki). I think the GSX-S looks good too, but I hate that front headlight. I'm thinking about making a bit of a lateral trade from a K5 Gixxer to the GSX-S for the ridability- The Gixxer is painful (tall + messed up back) and not fun at all until I'm totally away traffic, but I still love it... I know I'll probably never find another nice K5/6 so I don't want to let it go, but I think I would have a better time on one of these two. I can't use all that power on the street anyway, so why not get something more practical and comfortable? I really just don't want to mod a brand new bike, and I'm not sure what to expect out of these toned down bikes. I haven't even seen a GSX-S at a dealer for a few years now... I'm torn, probably until I ride one. Anyone have any advice for a guy that only has room for one bike?

I'm still considering a CB or GSXS possibly geared down a bit for more low end fun. Guess I don't really know what I want
@thomasbouvier3203
@thomasbouvier3203 Год назад
Well only good advice is, try them both. Did this, and I was leaning for cb1000 for the aesthetic. And got so much disappointed by how plain the engine felt (don’t get me wrong it pulls. But it’s not emotionally communicating it to you). Rode gsxs and damn I want one now. But insurance for « new » rider is what hold me back for sure 😅 But it’s such a great bike/chassis/gearbox combo. So smooth. And it got the big low down growl, and high whine that childhood gsxr had. And bonus, stock exhaust is really cool. So I wouldn’t change it. Tho, I would wait for summer « upgrades » where Suzuki might finally bring tft on it?! Hope so. But it would rise price around a 1000usd/eur. A buddy tried both, and he went with cb1000… so…. Try them, (ideally back to back) and then choose. :)

Someone has got to explain to me the reason for buying a bike that delivers massive power where you can never use it (this coming from a Sportster S owner). I can't understand wanting torque at 9,500 rpm in 3rd gear when you can have it roll on delivered at 4,000 rpm in 4th. I guess the real question is, where and how often do you want the usable power? Do you want it every moment of your ride or is that one quick boost during the ride enough to get the demon out? There is no perfect bike I guess and no generic rider.
@ErikSeastead
@ErikSeastead 2 года назад
I really like high strung engines (Got a Rotary and a Ninja 250F, the 80s-00s one with a 13k redline). I like that they're very tame when cruising and that I have to stay in lower gears to get power. It really comes down to the sound of letting the engine wind out. I can redline two gears in all of my vehicles without breaking 65mph which translates to a lot of fun on the street for me.
@MrEiniweini
@MrEiniweini 2 года назад
@@ErikSeastead That is strange to me because my bike delivers that power early without me working for it. My range to grab power is so much greater because my torque is high at low rpm. I even chatted to my neighbour today that has a 1000 Yamaha race spec and he admitted on spec I would take him on a rolling acceleration in top gear. He would definitely leave me in his mirrors after 10 seconds but response to throttle is slower at lower rpm.
@otter7467
@otter7467 2 года назад
@@MrEiniweini I just bought a CB1000R and I can explain why I didn't buy the sportster S. I'm not sure how the Sportster S rides, but the 2" of rear suspension travel was a turn off. I also have a Street Bob and I prefer the old school HD look/engine vs the newer Sportster S. So the Sportster S isn't my pick for a 15k HD. I haven't gotten to a demo day when they were available, so I can't say for sure that I wouldn't fall in love with the bike but comparing it directly to a Soft tail or the CB I just didn't see the same value. Why I didn't pick a Sportster S? It is a brand new model and new engine. I prefer to wait a couple years to ensure there isn't a weak oil pump, etc., like the original Milwaukee 8. The HD is also down 30 hp, a bit more TQ but it has the same dead spot that all new bikes have at 4-6k rpm (Euro 5 and emissions bs). HD also has less lean angle and costs $2.5k more. I only spent $1.5k on a full exhaust/Pwr Cmdr and the tune is $250. Torque problem, dead spot, OEM lean fueling all solved, and still have $750 left over to spend on leathers or a new helmet. I could ask you the same question. For the same money a Tuono V4 with more TQ, HP, lean angle, top speed, tech, etc. If you wanted to stay HD, why didn't you get the Pan America? It's the same price difference as the Sportster S vs GSXS or CB, the Pan Am engine comes with more power, a more comfortable riding position, great on road manners and has pretty damn good offroad chops, but I know why you picked the bike you did. The Sportster S is a cool bike, you liked it and you could afford it.
