Thank you all for watching and inquiring where I have been. While I have made some trips over the past 3 months at this time, WORK has really been doing a number obnoxiousness me during the 2020 Pandemic with online ordering! I simply have not had the energy to sit down and be creative and work with the videos! Again, thank you for checking up on me!
Beautiful day to ride US129! GW sure is smooth with you on it! I enjoyed your comments! And, virtually no wind noise. Actually, I like the sound of the CB650F! Nice video Mike. Thanks for sharing you weekend father and son ride.
100% professional rider! Kids do not try this at home. The man, the myth, the legend is back. Fo sho there was no baloney skins on the back tire. Ride it like you stole it. Thank you for putting in the hours Double M. It’s a team member like you that gets all of our stuff delivered. Welcome back my brother. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.
I chased my son up Appalachian Gap in Vermont one beautiful fall day. He was on an ST1100 and I was on a Yamaha FZ6. It was a Proud Papa moment watching my 19-year old casually and gracefully speeding through corners ... until I couldn't keep up with him. He was kind enough to wait for me at the top. (The same thing happens in the woods on skis, except going downhill.) I'd love to own a Goldwing, but during winter storage in rural Vermont, the little critters love making homes behind all that plastic. I sold the ST for the same reason. And Mud Season lasts too long, so I bought a KLR.
MM you hustle that Big Wing arounf pretty damn good 😎 Seeing this makes me want to get down there again .... The area has some of the best road riding in the world.
The young man did a great job of slaying the dragon. That may be the heaviest traffic I’ve seen up there, and I have been going 2-4 times a year for 30 years!
I can't believe I haven't brought my Goldwing over there yet!! You guys were killing it. I'm going to get over there asap, don't think I'll be riding it as well as you, but I'm going to have some fun! Great riding with your son, like you said, making memories. Stay well, oh and don't work too hard.....the Christmas rush is coming soon!
At any pace you choose to ride is still fun. I hit it hard first 2-3 times. After that, im exhausted and back it down 😂 next vid will be ME tailing HIM...and he ran off and got out of camera range. But i was there to make memories, and that we did! 😊
MM been a while . Nice video. I have been going to the Dragon once a year since 1997 I love that area. this year I did it in June on my FJR and i will be back end of Sept with the Wife on my Road Glide LTD. We will be doing all the good area roads all the way up to Tazewell VA Great Roads with Nice local people
MM, I don't know who the jack wagon is that would give a thumbs down to your vids. They are on point, keep up the good work brother. Your vids are much appreciated. Especially since I live in the flat lands of SW Oklahoma.
Do you ride the Dragon on only one gear like your son seemed to do? From a rider yet to ride the TotD? And if so which gear or rpm range. Or what was your average speed? Both of my bikes are 5 speeds.
I wore the bottoms of the footpegs on my Valkyrie as well as scraped my pipes some. Curious as to how the Wing handles. Does it touch down and/or wallow in the curves? I have an RT, RS and Triumph T100, all of which provide fewer heart stopping moments.
I have floorboards so yeah they do scrape...but i can use more counter steering techniques and leaning properly to give myself a little more clearance and keep bike more upright when i want to...but that wears me out after a bit 🤣
MemphisMike Figured! It takes a good rider to hustle a big bike through the twisties. I bought an RT because my wife would dig me in the ribs every time the Valk touched down.
Nothing beats canyon carving on a wing except the shocked look from youngsters on rockets not being able to keep up. Just make sure you fold up any highway pegs or boards.
yep fortunately i swapped to rivco pegs that do not lay as close to ground...now my floorboards get rapoed on these roads with scraping...but i am learning better technique as well to avoid less scraping
I drove the Dragon in a car AFTER eating two double cheeseburgers and a milk shake with extra fries…..🤢 I spent the entire drive trying not to throw up 🤮 😮
I think who were dangerously close having your son trail you on tail of the dragon. If I see you at the Wings gettogether next year, I wouldn't mind you kicking your ass at having your son film you.
As a Canadian, for over fifteen years, I’ve annually pilgrimaged to Deals Gap; The Dragon has humbled me hundreds of times. However, the rule of Safety Third having been usurped by Covid19, I won’t be there this year; videos like this will have to suffice. Hopefully next year I’ll be back smoking cigars and telling lies around the campfire. Be kind to each other, my American friends, the world is watching you twist and turn . . .
