Thanks for stopping by my Channel. I enjoy Motorcycling and currently own 2 Bikes. Honda Goldwing(2008) & Honda VFR 800 Interceptor (2015). I have recently retired from my Job of 40 years with UPS. My channel now may reflect Things I do in Retirement. I currently enjoy traveling, Shooting Pool, RC Cars, playing Piano, and my recent endeavor of learning Bass Guitar & GarageBand on my Mac. My channel will also focus on a Day in the Life of a Retiree which may include any of these activities. Thank you for watching. instagram.com/memphianmike
Absolutely. We have so much more to talk about these days. Medications seems to come up a lot. I just change the subject until the conversation drifts into something more productive. You are not alone.
Email. Pblifts16@gmail.com I just read on Facebook they stopped production December 2023. You may email them and see if they have any old new stock still.
I just got a 2009 with only 5000 miles. The bushing seems new. I get the cruise light on the dash but the set and accel buttons dont seem to activate it. I’ll check that second part out.
The only reason I want to remove my rear tire is for the exact reason you mention at the 6:25 mark...to shine that rim! My rim looks like 40 miles of bad road right now (kind of like the cast of "The View") and I really need to shine it up. It looks pitted and nasty, but I hope that's just surface gunk. If not, I'll just have to get me some new rims!!
I still do. I am just not doing motovlog vids anymore these days. I have dove head first back into my music(keyboard-bass player), and am playing wih a couple bands here locally in Memphis while enjoying reitrement!
@MemphisMike901 you won't get a better ride than that 2008 goldwing I don't like the.goldwings from 2018 and up I like the goldwings from 2001 to 2010 and.2012 to 2017
I have an '02 HD Electraglide with 162,000 miles. Never used anything but Supertech 20 w 50 Dead Dinosaur. No engine work, no add between 5,000 mile intervals. Amsoil/$15.99 qt.- Supertech $4.37.
Hi Mike just checking in with you. I retired from UPS at 62 and 40 years of service. Other than gaining winter weight I’m pretty healthy. I’m flying from N DAK tomorrow to Mesa and jumping on my F6b and riding out to Tx for the eclipse. Retirement has been good.
Thanks. Worked like a charm. Would like to add that for some reason the original bushing had the hole goes all the way through thus allowing the loose handle. The replacement bushing hole doesn't go through all the way letting the cable/plunger to push against the back thus much more fitting and no more loose fitting. I suspect the bushing is wearing of and the hole gets punched through. Nevertheless, great video. Thanks.
I’ve been running K&N filters in my Harleys for over 100K miles with great results and slightly improved performance. I put a K&N filter in my 2008 Goldwing this winter, but haven’t got to ride with it yet as we still have snow up here in Canada! I run K&N filters in my Honda Civic too.
Hey Mike, I'm old but I'll never be mature.😊 Sharon laughed like crazy and wanted to know if this is what her retirement will look like. Stay healthy my friend.
Hang in there Mike, I’ll be 70 next month going on my third year of retirement. I have friends in their 80s that have been retired over 20 years. Yes they have their issues but they still do a lot of stuff. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Take care.
I'm a little younger than you are chronologically, but maturity wise...I'm still laughing about how your doctor wants to dig deeper in your nose. 😂 Stay young my friend!
Basal Cell Carcinoma. Had that removed from my chin about 25 years ago. It is part of getting older, but the conversation can be taken in other directions. I do talk about all those other things (rides, cutting grass, etc).
Yea man it's something that happens. I always said that when I get old I'm not going to get on the medical merrygoround. But now that I'm in my 70's I seem to be on it! And youre right conversation usually goes to that. I get tired of it too!
It seems to be that way. I think it because you don't work and most people talk about there work and now they have to find something else to fill the gap with. I do like to talk about anything positive and not so much about doctor visit and medical care. 😊
Ha ha! No, Mike, I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing at us. Us, as in we’re all in this together. It’s always good to see your videos. Yes, I agree, I like talking about other things. However, as we age health issues come up more all the time. I didn’t have to wait to reach 66. My wife, (2 years younger) had her first fight of 3 fights with cancer 15 years ago. Now, it’s my turn with prostate cancer. Yes! I would gladly discuss something else; like backpacking, photography, camping, the weather! We’re all in this together….
Mike, I’ll be 70 in a couple months. I rarely, if ever, have those ‘medical issue’ talks with my friends. My wife and I occasionally discuss these things. Maybe, the best thing to do is answer a question with a question and just change the subject. Most people pounce on answering a question! Take care and be safe out there
LoL… lesson went good this week. Adding few more songs to the collection on Bass. Actually I have quite a few, but working on some standard covers and the “Right” patterns!
Excellent! Unconscious competent playing. When I can finally move past looking at the music and just freely play it. To get to that point it’s breaking down the more challenging sections and slowing it way way down. Way down. 😂 Fighting the urge to tense up when you know those section(s) are upon you.
Mike - hilarious! I swear, when I turned 60 there was an email that went out to doctors I didn't know existed, that wanted to check things I didn't know existed, in places I didn't know I had! I think there's something out there that keeps their pipeline going! After all, they need to pay off those high med school debts! When we were young, the conversations always turned to the husbands gas. Now it turns to meds and Dr's visits. That'll wear off, especially if you're relatively healthy and don't make all those visits. Yes, routine checks are important, but I'm with you brother, I don't focus on the health condition of my peers. If it turns to that, I go find someone else if we're in a group setting, to talk to, or something else to do. I'm blessed, I have exercised since I was 16 years old starting out as a runner, and ran long distances until the knees couldn't handle it anymore. Biking took over, and now I'm at a gym M-F at 5:30AM before work. Never was, and never will be a Charlie Atlas and that's not the goal. Motion is the potion that keeps us young and healthy. No meds here other than multi vitamin (for over 50 of course!). I hope you shot well at pool!
That is very impressive for no meds at your age. I guess 40 yrs at UPS kept my weight down at least. Usually walk 5-6 x’s/ week at 45mins to 1hr. And sometimes do that twice!
@@MemphisMike901 Yes, I'm 62. We're just carbon copies of our parents waiting to develop. However, I believe lifestyle choices have an impact on our wellness. A 45 - 60 minute walk is around 3 miles each time and that's awesome. Your work at UPS definitely kept you in shape. Another part of being at the gym so early is the fellowship that goes along with that. The mental gymnastics, laughter and general BS is worth its weight in gold. Some people pay a therapist big bucks to get that kind of mental stimulation, hell, just show up at your local rec center and engage with new friends! Out of our early morning group, I'm the youngest and the only one not retired. Yet, those guys (and gals) still show up that early in the morning. There's something to it!
60 Mike but currently looking to improve my fitness. But the answer is at times for sure. Mom 91 living with us so there are challenges for Time to time. Keep smiling and take them.as they come.
Man we have been care givers ourselves here. It can be stressful. God Bless you bro for taking care of your Mom. There is a special place in Heaven for good care givers of families!
I'm a ham radio operator and it's an a aging group, and yeah its all over the radio, unfortunately. I do try to streear clear when i can and talk about other topics like our equipment etc... I purposely try not to share I'm a nurse because that just escalates it. I'm not yet retired, 57, and many of the RNs i work with are in ther 50's or in that range and honestly we don't talk to each other about our medical problems because we deal with other people's all day long as it is. So go hang out with nurses, doctors, and medical people. 😁
LoL. My wife was an RN 35 yrs. I got ALL the stories about her patients everyday. God Bless the nurses. It is tough out there. She was a Floor nurse. She retired last year
I think the television has many people brain washed. All they do is advertise there snake oil morning & night. Making a ton of blood money off most of that garbage JMO
I'll be 68 in June. It's part of the Senior Circuit and sickness is an unfortunate majority of most Seniors problems. I'm,so far, blessed to be able to move and perform as if I'm in my 50s. I've been in Martial Arts since the early 70s. I've never taken drugs, been drunk nor smoked! I believe living a clean drug free life and staying in shape has,so far, kept me healthy and mobile. Sickness, for some elderly, has become a major concern/problem so naturally,I believe, they would tend to talk more about that. I really don't get tired of listening. I listen and give my opinions if any are warranted. Some elderly just want to talk and if it makes them happy I'm here to listen!💖
68 here. only limited medical talk which is mostly stretching, exercise and keeping the mind active topics. Went from 2 wheels to 3 on a can-am Spyder RTL. Lots of day trip planning and talk of weekend group rides.
I remember when I was a kid and my grandparents came to visit, seems like all they talked about was their ailments now that I’m over 65 and I’m on medicare and S.S. Seems like that’s what we talk about with friends. Not all the time but it’s what we have in common I guess. Looks like I have become my Grandfather. LOL
