That moment when the injectors began to clear through was awesome. Little by little, working through the problems you can sort straight away and then working out what's left... You will get there with it Charlie. Power to you dude!

My friend has one of these but with a split seat, with a 2 bros exhaust, upgraded sprockets, air filter & ECU re-map. He keeps up with litre bikes all day long!

It says that he re mapped it. That could be with a power commander or by sending the original ecu off.

@@schakal325 yeah thats how he got his remap, via power commander. Bike still runs great, but too many wheelies wore down the forks and the stator needs a rebuild/replace.

Great bikes. I'm not sure I'll get to do much more work on it but possibly a little on the fuel pump.

Fuel pump is inside the tank - pretty common - injection systems hate use of throttle on starting - good stuff Charlie - could also clean/replace plugs - love your perseverence !

Cheers Andrew, not sure what the current owner wants from it yet but will soon find out. Hopefully I get to do a follow up vid and try yo save the fuel pump

go to the fuel pump Charlie, spraying carb cleaner into the rail not going to do anything needs x amount of BAR/pressure for injectors to spray,

It did clean the injectors out and that did need doing but yes it also needs a working priming fuel pump

Fuel pump . You'd hear it if it was working . Take out the pump sender filter unit . Extract the pump give it a few taps . It'll be stuck in one position on the armature . You may get it running again by jogging it . Put 12v to it while its off the bike . It's probably done for but it's worth a go. You can fit after market pumps . Ok they're cheap and cheerful but if it's being sold on? peace and love brother ✌ 💚

If I can do something with the pump it could be ok. Not sure yet though. Got so many projects this week lol.

First check the fuses for the pump. If they're good then a replacement pump is whats needed. You should hear it prime when the key is turned on. Also double sure the alarm or HSS isn't stopping it from working. Good luck. I had one of those and loved it. 😎👍🏍

Fuse is a good idea. When parked up it was running so will be something silly I'm sure. Or gummed up pump possibly. Its a good point though. I'll take another look when I get a day or 2.

That must have been one tough pushbike! Really bad news for your mate though, I feel his pain and frustration, these insurance companies get away with more than they should in my opinion. Yes I can understand they are in it to make money and not for looking after us, they might say different but it’s lie’s if they do, any small escape route to get out of paying and their off like a rat up a drain pipe. Standing for so long as took its toll on it but you will get it sorted

I told him every year, get it out, start it up, warm it up change the fuel etc. But time got longer and longer and now its a lemon at this stage sadly

With it being a fi model check the fuses the fuel pump should be on its own fuse

The fork seal may have done that while it's been sat. The seal rubbers will be getting hard and brittle. Wouldn't surprise me if the suspension bushes are shot now too. Be worth checking the whole bike over 👌👌

Its in a bad way Laguna. I'm trying to tell the owner these things but I think that he thinks I'm having him on.m I've told him it needs new dien pipe at £250 (if one can be found) Fork seals and fluid at £60 New battery at £40 New radiator at £100 Possibly new fuel pump at £150 New tyres as its been sitting 8 years at £150 Plus other little bits and pieces.

@@motorcyclerescuer 100% on the tyres/seals/fluids and possibly the fuel pump. It's definitely a fuel problem. You can always skip the rad unless it's actually leaking. And maybe find someone who can repair the exhaust or make a custom one for less. There's plenty of fabricators about that do little jobs like that for ok money.

The rad intake has squished completely so no fluid will circulate. The bike wouldn't last 5 mins like that. I may be able to bend it out but it's unlikely

@@motorcyclerescuer oh ok then yeah new rad or a second hand/cheap Chinese one to make do. I think the injectors are still really clogged. Even though it was finally pushing fuel through them it was very lumpy and no spray pattern. The pressure regulator/return may even be stuck wide open dropping pressure too much to push the fuel through the injectors.

did you ever manage to solve it, i'm haveing the same issue with my cbr 600 f4i, my fuel pump is priming so thats good, gonna check the injectors next free day. found your vid really helpful, thanks

In the end I had an issue with the pump that needed a clean and nudge, then I had to clean the injectors which I popped of and sprayed through and finally the choke system wasn't functioning

Is the fuel pump priming/purging the fuel line when turn the ignition on? is there a fuel pump fuse or relay?

No it wasn't Carl, I didn't even consider that until a few days later. I've not been back to that bike yet but I'll be having a good look at the fuel pump when I do.

I would use a full bottle of seafoam with a gallon of fresh fuel and change all 4 of those spark plugs first. I had the exact same problem with my brother-in-law 's motorcycle. When fuel injector seats for awhile they always get stuck close if you never used any kind of fuel stabilizer when it ran for the last time. And sometimes the fuel stabilizer doesn't work well after 6-7 months if the fuel got ethanol blend (10-15%). That's why I always use ethanol free gasoline in all my motorcycles and at the end of the summer mix some fuel stabilizer . Ethanol blend gas is just bad for carburators and fuel injectors

This bike isn't great at the moment and the auto choke is playing up. The bike revs are raising once the bike is warm rather then dropping. It's a pain.

Wouldn't be surprised if these bikes start going up in value just because of how versatile they are, the new 650f from honda has less power, more weight, great bikes I think the owner should keep it because they won't get anything close to this for their money if they sold it

you should not keep turning engine over like you were doing, you shoud have deduced it needed high pressure fuel?/

What does continued turning of engine over do? Why wouldn't you try longer periods of attempted starts after something has sat for a long time?

I notice the tire start to spin when it started...which means clutch is not completely disnegaged/in neutral That can help prevent starting as well, but def get those injectors cleaned more first and check the it pressurizes

I think it was vibration that was doing that on this occasion. I've got a video going up today that shows its now starting and running however the idle is high. I think the automatic choke is playing up

@@motorcyclerescuer idle screw is on left hand side approximately where your left knee would be if sitting and riding. It’s actually turn knob attached to cable. No screwdriver required to adjust

Even fully out the engine is revving. Choke appears to be stuck on currently. It's a wax system so I'll have to take a look at that.

They seem OK but the high pressure pump wasn't pumping. Think I need to look at that. They aren't cheap at all if a new one is needed

After sitting 7 to 8 years I'm surprised it turned at all. To be fair I turned it over around 3 years ago but didn't spend any time on it.

@@motorcyclerescuer im having to do the same thing next week with my bandit 1250 as its on its way out might be worth u getting 1 that comes with the presure regulator as they tend to go at the same time quantum normally do a kit for £100 on ebay

I'm not sure he wants me to do much more on the bike at this stage. I'll have a play with the fuel pump just incase but otherwise I think he's considering his options at the moment

It could be closer to £800 Dusty depending on how deep you go. Fuel pump at £150 Radiator at £100 Battery £50 Fork seals and oil £80 Downpipes over £200 second hand Tyres as these have been sitting £160 Service at £60 Plus other bits and pieces However I do agree that it's worth saving as its a great bike and people like them.

You can run an injector to a D size battery with a little switch for cleaning them out too. Not sure about 12v I don't think they run at 12v

They did open Laguna, that's why we could see the spray coming through. They opened on the original 12v set up as I left them connected

@@motorcyclerescuer ah ok yeah they're on the 12v system but they're usually on a 5v feed from the ECU so if you ran 12v directly to the injector I'm not sure what it would do (for future reference) D size battery is safe have done it on car injectors many times 👌

Hey what’s up you all hopefully someone can help me I got a 99 honda cbr600 f4 and it dies after it warms up run probably like 15 minutes and it dies and it won’t start until is complete cold again

That's interesting, do the revs drop to normal when the choke does off? The only reason I could think that a bike would die once warm is valve adjustment. You see while cold the valves may be ok but once warm the metal expands and the clearences get tighter. If they are out of tolerance then this will stop the engine running.

@@motorcyclerescuer sadly the gpz 500 failed mot on headset bearings lower shock bush rear break and front brake fluid contaminated seemed fine to me so need this gone would like too swap with the cbr if running and moted
