I think it's funny how this car looks like it's been wrapped around a tree and the engine was knocking really bad when he first started it, and yet people on RU-vid are like, "why would you ruin a perfectly good car?" Lol
@@martinwheeldon Like it's a matter of a rev limiter that will keep an overheating engine from death? Such logic would make every lazy V8 and diesel indestructible.
By the sound of it the Engine runs perfectly way past redline for a few minutes, throws a rod, but it still revvs back up on the surviving cylinders, then finally the bearings melt and it seizes up. What a machine.
+Linus Kracht It's all good - I deleted my comment because I realized you meant it as a joke (not the "childs" but the "eaten the engine" part), but you replied before I had a chance to delete it!
That was impressive. Old recked honda with prolly 120,000+ miles on it lasted longer than most new cars could at redline. Even blew a rod and still lasted on the remaining cyclinders. Im buying a honda now
MRsteezy123 "Honda are awesome" because they are light, put the same engine in a suburban or something and it will be slow and feel dead. I personally think it's fun how long the engine hold up. and i did not prefer to the engine when i said it was because it's light... but i am a car guy i guess as i own a Volvo 850 estate that is "slightly tuned" to 374hp at "low" turbo boost 0,8 bar pressure and lowered a little, also build it to rwd with a newer suspension from a S60r and custom gearbox so i don't need the weakness of the side mounted gearbox.
ståle starheim oh i understand i just honestly think all Honda are slow even in their body im not including forced induction and built hondas tho,,but honestly what makes honda awesome in my opinion is the reliability while being a little zippy..is does what it does good and thats point a to point b while gettin you 34 mpg
MRsteezy123 that's true they are nice little cars compared to what they drink :) but how many mpg a car get's is not something i care about, because a tuned Volvo drinks like a Russian.. :(
That wasn't a limiter lmaooo that's valve float or the head and manifolds simply couldn't flow anymore air. From the misfire when it peaks sounds like valve float to me
Damn that Honda was good! Lasted for a good 5 minutes, had high revvs at 8000 RPM, (Most Honda's revv at 7000 RPM...) still sent it at 4:19 even though it seemed like it was done, and started again at the end even though it shutoff which very little of cars would do! Very Impressed Honda! Also, I believed that any new car could last over 10 minutes at redline, but they last barely one minute.
It's amazing to see something like this. Japanese engineering for the most part is innovative and really made to last. I'm not a douchey Honda fanboy. But let's see a Chevrolet smallblock do this exact same thing in the same condition...
I saw a video of a dude on RU-vid who hung a sbc 350 from a tree with no cooling system… gave her wide open throttle and it wouldn’t die so he had to drain the oil for her to give up.💪
I don't know why but I always hate to see how people totally trash an engine that could have brought at least 20-30k more miles of life to a person's ride..... damn... it hurts my ears... I almost shed a tear... God what a motor tho... that thing lives two lives apparently....
We owned a 2011 Chevy Equinox which worth brand new 45 000$ and after 7 years a piston got stuck on the free way and the engine broke, the whole engine block was done and it got totaled, i am never going to buy a American car again.
To be honest, the camera man who kept walking around half the time instead of filming the car kinda got a little annoying after a while. My hats off to Honda, that motor sure hung in there pretty damn well at those high rpms. The Japanese sure do make some tough engines.
EK9GraphicDesign Possibly in mind condition. The front end needed repainting and it look like it had quite a few dings. Probably worth 20$, not 2grand.
@@JAntJ they couldn't have. The engine when it was first started had metallic knocking. And the Honda was wrecked anyways. There's no use to a car when it's not in good condition and the engine battered a bit. Might as well put it out of it's misery.
to all those people complaining about wasting an good engine that way: yes it's a shame that they did it, but they own the engine, they do what they want to it. i also think: dayum i could use that engine, but heck.. it's funny to see engine's explode when its on purpose. sad when it's accidental :/.. but this was fun
ChristianGamer 64 New engine: $3,000 Oil leak fix: $250 (estimate). Yep, makes sense. No actually they probably destroyed the engine because of the frame damage but they could have gotten $100 from someone who needed an engine for their car. Just saying there could have been a more practical and economical use here. If the engine was already gone, i'd say have fun finishing it off but it sounded like the engine was in good condition before it was fried.
Sometimes its the fuel but a rod must have went bad. That is fixable but probably not worth it to some. Still theres rebuilt motors on the market, which is not always reliable.
Ok everybody complains it could be salvaged did u listen to it when it started and it had all that rattling? That engine was toast and it's a miracle it ran as long as it did
That is an amazing test. I know you guys are just screwing around, and the car was probably on its way to the steel recycle yard. Amazing motor test, really.
A Ford or Vauxhall would've lasted about 20 seconds under those conditions! Honda - best fucking cars on Earth, dude. I had one of these Civics years ago - just wouldn't fucking die, they're indestructible. Not like the overly-complicated planned-obsolescence computerised fucking shite they churn out nowadays. I loved that car - sad to see one of the poor lil motherfuckers getting blown up here.
Toyota Avanza So...You love Toyota right? If you was a true lover of toyota, you should know that honda designed pistons and metals for toyota back in their early history....So if toyota is tough (which is not, honda engines are way tougher) she own it on honda....Learn a little history...You have internet...Read...
Honestly I am not a big honda fan as far as racing goes but Jesus Christ the only reason it died was because it couldn't cool it well enough to maintain that rpm. I wonder how long it would have lasted if it had a great cooling setup. Hondas biggest issue is their automatic transmissions not being able to handle the power of the stronger motors.
Audis are shitty cars? I'll admit Honda can make a good quality, lasting engine, but to say Audi is shit is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I get it. You like to have pride in being a ricer and slam on all the nicer cars you can't afford. Fact of the matter is ANY Audi out there could smoke your trailer trash piece of shit JDM car any day of the week. Shit, with a 2165cc engine and a nice set of dual 48idf carbs, my fucking 65 BUG could smoke your fucking car going backwards. XD
cooasp12 Wait second before smoking any JDM car with you audi 80 or 100. Please go and check your suspension which is so shit that is should be repaired twice a week. Andddd dont drive around new buildings because you'll see your car's awful reflection. Audi has no design whatsover. Brick wall is better looking than audi. And engines: I admint audi has two good engines: 2.2t and 1.9 diesel but even first 1 is quite problematic although is easily tuned for more power. That's it, you better take your audi 80 and try to make some corner. be careful as your audi engine is sitting on headlights.
I mean everyone knows audi/vw are the most unreliable cars in the world. try to put the same turbo in a honda, and tell me which one is faster/reliable/mpg/more fun/everything... i bet ur ignorance would say its still audi.
Martynas You sure know alot about cars. And you must have really good taste when you say Audi, out of all brands you could possibly say this about, has no design. No, I'm sorry, you don't even have the slightest clue of what you are talking about.
***** You forgot: audi 80 burnout eesti moodi . Extremely nice car, extremely beautiful, extremely powerful (I believe it's almighty 90hp out of 2.0 displacement, how cool is that!)
My dad put a 2 litre engine from a 1.4 litre in an Audi and he spent months on it, had it on the roads of Bangor for 2 weeks speeding and looks up behind him to see this smoke and all of a sudden it blows up! I'm 12, and I'm rebuilding a porsche 924 with him and I absolutely love it! It has been off the road for 15 years so it hasn't been started but it won't be for a while cause engine is out and new parts on and being painted!
Cool. I'm a generally a Honda guy, although I love all makes of cars. My first car engine I rebuilt was that Audi 4-cylinder from a Porsche 924. Fun project.
That restart from 4:20 and on!! Because V-Tec!! 😜🤣😎 How the hell can you start-up a car while in gear? Right after the first start, the speedo reached the top speed, the tacho was off the end of the scale and I saw the brake discs spinning like hell! What the?
+Dimitris Varsos basically reason why brake discs were spinning because they werent touching the ground, plus many tachometers are inaccurate so they go few milimeters (or centimeters) more than the limit
That is just proof of how good Honda engines are. I bet you an American engine would blow up after a couple of seconds. P.S. I like American cars so don't hate :3
Wrong, while the honda did good, There's a few vids of people blowing up chevy engines that are over ten minutes long. My best friend tried to blow up a Buick 300 V8 When he junked the car and couldn't. After 30 minutes with a brick on the throttle the thing ran out of gas. He put a gallon in and it started right up. It had burned exhaust valves and ran like shit but never stopped running.
+Edxander Perez Back in the day my dad tried to blow up a Dodge Slant 6. Threw a brick on the gas and it ran for 20 minutes, got hot and shut off. After it cooled off he started it back up and it ran just fine.
