What about the electronic parking brake pigtail important to mention
@mrunning10
@mrunning10 10 месяцев назад
what about the electronic parking brake? did you put it in "service mode?" ignore it? crank it back manually? (did not see you do this in the video) just press the piston back into the caliper and hope the electric solenoid on the parking brake won't break?

Best practice is NOT to drill out the rotor retaining screw. Get an impact driver from the local parts store. Likely you'll strip the screw if you try using a screwdriver. It's true the screw isn't essential but it holds the rotor straight when you are reinstalling the back bracket and caliper.

Or you can use a lug nut to hold the rotor while reinstalling the bracket and caliper. 😎

Agreed. Impact screwdriver from Harbor Freight for $40 makes this part of the job super fast and easy . . . and comes in handy for other jobs as well!!!

I used an oversized phillips screwdriver and tapped it in a few times with a hammer. Clamped on with vise grips and no problem at all. Was able to reuse the same screw too.

DO NOT WATCH THIS VID to change your rear brakes. Mechanically they may have done it right but the video fails to mention putting it in service mode. I used this video and now I have to pay over $300 for a new actuator. ITS THIS REASON my problem is worse than it was. Also you’ll need an expensive scanner to turn it off so yeah. Whoever made this vid really sucks rn

This is NOT the full process for this model, 2017 civic. Before compressing the piston you need to remove the EBrake (the plastic black part) using 5mm hex socket. Then you have to resent the screw in the middle!!!! If you dont do this part your EBrake problem sensor will stay on!

How long before you Brake warning light came on? Unless you got lucky, you trashed your e-brake servos

Did that tool keep you from having to remove and reset the parking brake seperately? I assume by it rotating as it is compressed does this?

I was told if you have the electronic E brake it it has to be professionally calibrated. Is this true or can a DIYer handle it? They want $260 for only rear pads!

The nut of the caliper is too tight. What if it can't be unscrewed?

Try a breaker bar or attach a pipe to your ratchet to get more leverage.

You forgot to take off the handbrake motor to compress the piston . If you don't it's impossible.

This is incorrect you need to put the rear EPB in service mode or screw in the actuator manually. Doing it this way can cause issues and codes with the EBP

@@onesevenruben6804 you gotta make sure you didn't damage the epb actuators before anything if everything is OK then a higher end scan tool can take care of the codes.

Cross drilled rotors dissipate heat faster. You can install in your car but you will not notice the difference unless you go to the racetrack.

This video is breaking peoples cars and you still leave it up? The way the caliper is compressed in this video is completely wrong. Several commenters have noted parking brake lights coming on and expensive repairs needed after following the instructions provided in this video.

didnt use a torque wrench putting wheels back on, not that that's the only thing wrong going on here... incorrect way to do the rear brakes. Why are you only using the jack to support the car... if that fails your whole front suspension goes bye bye and could injure you severely if your hands are under tightening/untightening the bolts. Learn safety first, other people will pick these bad habits up so I have to call you out on this being a terrible how to video.
@borker20
@borker20 2 месяца назад
You definitely don't need to torque the lug nuts 🤣 the torque specs on lugs is very light. Arm tightening firmly but not crazy is just fine. The real crime here is he didn't put in service mode and didn't regrease the slide pins which will eventually cause heat from friction, pit the pins and that will cause brake shudder which will ruin the braking/shake the car.
