After 12,000 miles and one attempted wheel theft ... I still love this vehicle. I'd be happy to answer any questions or comments about my civic si. advancedwheellocks.com/ www.weathertech.com/honda/202...
I have had my civic for 18 months. Almost 15k miles. I am being completely honest when I say I like it more today than the day I came home with it. Any doubts, reservations or post purchase blues have evaporated with every mile, curve and freeway on ramp I have encountered.
@@pv4083 I have had no issues with the oil. I changed it every 5k. It's also my understanding oil dilution problems occurred in extremely cold weather when the engines were not allowed to warm up over repetitive short trip driving. Additionally my own research indicated that almost all engines do have some fuel slip past the piston rings. It burns off naturally. Lastly. Honda did change the oil the use to GF6. Don't quote me on that last one. That just was I heard. Making it hearsay. Hope you get one and enjoy it as much as we do
Great review! I love this car, I started looking at cars twice the price but realize this is a smart purchase even for people that can afford anything.
Great video! I too bought my 23 Civic Si (same color) in January and just past 12,000 miles also. Didn’t know that about the wheels. I’ll definitely be picking up a set of the wheel locks. I enjoy my Si every single day. Favorite car I’ve ever owned!
I had always liked the look of the Acuras more than the Si but couldn’t afford an Acura. I was so happy to see a more classy looking body style at an Si price.
Thanks for the review. I bought one in September (sonic gray). Currently at 3k miles. I’m loving the blue though! Let us know if you do end up modding. It would interesting to see!
After test driving a WRX yesterday, I called my local Honda dealer and they had two SI in stock. Test drove a 2024 Sonic pearl gray and took it home. First impression was the awesome and ease of driving, this compared to a 2015 Mustang GT PP manual I sold a few months ago. Thanks for the review.
Yo I bought the exact same car and the reasons you said for why were essentially word for word what I would say to anyone who asked. The rim lock idea was helpful too, immediate sub
Last saturday, Dec 29th i got my SI in pearl white. Im a tech at a honda dealer and have been waitint to get my hands on the 11th gen. Ive always shopped for cars on marketplace and had a few used cars and was about to get a 08 si for 5k. Worth it, although im glad i went with the 11th gen. Currently im around 990 or so miles and i cant wait to drive. Some say theres gonna be buyers remorse but i dont see it. Its a civic si, best of the best and all around its dialed in. Not sure what im talking about tbh, but all in all, i cant be happier. Yes its not fast and i know the options i couldve gotten regarding performance like a velociter N, but the 11th gen SI has the be one of the best cars all around
I have a 2023 in Sonic Grey, almost at 11k miles. I gotta say, it's the best car I've owned. I do wish it had heated seats, but that's quite literally my only complaint. It's unbelievably fun to drive, great on gas and comfortable on long drives. Unless the new Prelude comes out with some sick new hybrid powertrain, I don't see myself getting rid of my SI for many, many years.
I bought a 2024 sport touring manual. I love it!!!! Not an si but….. it moves great!!! I traded in my turbo Cadillac for it. Best thing I ever did. 🍻✌️
Thanks! I agree about the fuel level. The blips are a bit confusing at first. The low fuel light comes on with two blips left. I only run premium fuel in it.
Thanks for the review I'am doing some research on this car, I now drive a 2018 civic ex-t I would like to know if you had any problem with dealer mark ups. I really like this gen of the civic si any information would be greatly appreciated
Oh gosh… in short, yes. I’ll pull out my paperwork and get a breakdown of what I paid for you but the buying process was soul crushing. I was sick to my stomach for about 3 days. I’m used to buying motorcycles, where it’s a bit more straightforward. I negotiated with them for several hours and did get some money off but it was still more than I really wanted to pay at that time. I love the car but I will not be buying a new car for a very long time because of that experience. The dealers really took a “I know what I got” stance. My advice is shop around and negotiate what you can (no way I’m paying $100 for nitrogen in my tires).
@emstein555 I figured that your process of buying the car would be a ordeal some dealers are just ruthless, I read that some buyers went to different states to get their car. Thanks again for sharing your experience
if it helps the integra a spec 6mt which is the nicer version of this, can be had for MSRP if not a little less, especially in big cities where the Civic is more likely to be marked up I was also able to get mine under msrp thanks to rebates @@michaelgentile634
I think the Civic Si doesn't have a spare tire so they can compensate for the moonroof weight. This is just my assumption though. I'd say on average the moonroof(glass, frame, motor) weighs 30-40 pounds and a spare tire kit is roughly around the same weight maybe a bit lighter? I am not sure. I sure did wish they came with a spare tire though...
I Love your Review. I used to own an Acura Integra and retired the car at 366,000 Miles. I now drive my mom's Honda Civic to work. Looking back, I should have installed a Clear Bra in Front of the Car to prevent Rock Chips. After the warranty period, find yourself a Good Trusted Mechanic/Shop and follow the maintenance schedule like Tire Rotation, Oil Change, Coolant, Transmission Oil change to the exact specifications. Keep all the records in a folder and you can still sell it at a good price when you decided to get another Honda in the future.
The suspension is stiffer than what you’ll find in a regular old Corolla or civic and some people might not like that but once you take a nice smooth corner or highway ramp with it, you’ll love it. The seats help a lot too. Much more comfortable than my old car.
That totally depends on what you are passionate about and what you want your future career to be like. The experience can be wildly different depending on where you work and who you work for. What is your end goal?
do you ever get inconsistent clunky shifts going from 1-6, if not, whats the trick to always shift smoothly? im not talking about rev hang btw. thank you for your video
Great question. I tend to drive and shift pretty low in the rpm’s for each gear. That seems to really help with the transition from gear to gear. Sometimes I will go straight from 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 for something like a highway on ramp but generally I just shift low in the rpm’s unless I am trying to drive more aggressively. Does this help? I’m not totally sure what you are asking.
Here in Canada this car comes with heated seats, heated steering wheel, full digital dash, dual zone climate control wireless charger and a spare tire.
What is the MSRP in Canada? That sounds like a ton of great features. My husband actually owned a Canadian 1998 civic for a while. Took us a minute to get used to the km/h speedometer haha
@@emstein555I am looking at a 23 Si and it is 36,567 Canadian about 29,000 USD. With all the those options including fog lights too. Just weird how the US which buys more cars that Canada does but yet we get all those options. Weird
Beautiful car, can’t believe people suck so much they would actually pull up to your driveway and try to steal your wheels bunch of sickos glad it didn’t happen, I drive a 9th gen but these 11 gens are really nice, wasn’t the biggest fan of the 10th, love the blue as well good choice.
I thought the same thing. But on a Canadian review channel they pointed something out. The SI is considered the top trim and gets all the bells and whistles. They do not get an option for a sport touring with a manual. Not taking into consideration dealer markups. Their Civic SI is the highest priced in their market. In our market it should be extremely affordable. But Greedy people do greedy things. Thus making it appear Honda is screwing us when they tried to at least price it accordingly.
I have a fk7 2019 hatchback. What kind of exhaust you may get? I was thinking about getting maybe 3inch straight pupe with jpipe for elimination of drone. idk if i want to delete the catalytic converters too, to open up turbo all the way
Still researching this. Since this car is my only vehicle, I’ll have to wait until spring to install it. I’ll get back to you if I find something good quality.
I test drove one, and loved it, but it was about $8K more than the SI I ended up getting and I didn't feel like the speakers and extra tech was really worth it.
I only looked at the Acura online and it didn’t seem like it was worth the extra money. I also hated the bright red leather seats. From what I remember, the only big difference worth noting was that the Acura has smart adjusting suspension and that didn’t seem like enough of an upgrade to me.
Hey great content. I’m looking to get a si and I heard these car has a rev hang and oil leakage. Have you had any experience with these situations? thanks.
U really had to ask this question? You couldn’t have just google 2023 civic si and look at a godam picture of every single one with fog lights in the bumpers.
Driving any manual in stop and go can be a bit annoying but I would still chose this over any other car. Your clutch foot might get tired but it’s no big deal.
Nope, no bent wheel at all. The tire split between the treads from a piece of construction metal in the road. The tires are ok but not great. Nice for perfectly dry conditions but not great in the rain or wet conditions.
Sadly, it was marked up quite a bit. I may do a breakdown video of what I paid if that is helpful to anyone. I was able to negotiate down a little bit.
It might. The stock shifter is mostly metal with a leather band around the sides. If you had something all leather it would probably be a lot better. It’s the metal that gets so hot and cold.
I haven’t looked for a new one yet. I’ll probably just keep gloves in the glovebox. I have also seen covers you can buy that look like hoodies for the shifter. I’d probably try some kind of glove or cover before I replace the knob.
Road noise isnt an issue at all with this car. Its not the most quiet car i've ever been in but its certainly not bad. I wouldnt want it to be totally quiet inside because it would take away from the sound of that lovely engine.
I don’t think the fuel bars are meant to be a perfect measurement. I was likely idling between two bars. I only use the numerical range gauge if I’m really looking for how much range I have.
