The sixth generation of the CR-V debuts later this year with a bolder appearance and class-leading levels of practicality, combined with exceptional connectivity and comfort. The popular C-segment SUV will be available with either a full hybrid (e:HEV) or, for the first time in Europe, a plug-in hybrid (e:PHEV) powertrain, delivering dynamic performance and efficiency across the range - and in the case of the latter, up to 50 miles of all-electric range.
Behind its new design, the latest CR-V is now wider, longer, and taller than the outgoing model - with its 40mm longer wheelbase helping to create more interior space, including 16mm more rear legroom and an 18 per cent increase in luggage capacity.
Greater road presence is offered by a more aggressive front-end, distinguishing e:HEV and e:PHEV variants by their own exclusive grille design. The thin headlights and new signature daytime running lights combine to enhance this visual appeal further, while at the rear, the vertical brake light and turn signal combination is a smart upgrade of the instantly recognisable CR-V taillight design.
In addition, this will be the first European model to feature Honda SENSING 360; an omnidirectional safety and driver assist system which removes blind spots around the vehicle. This contributes to collision avoidance and alleviates driver burden, making it the next step in Honda’s bold ambition to bring traffic collision fatalities involving its automobiles and motorcycles to zero by 2050.
The new hybrid-electric powered 2024 CR-V Sport-L 2WD ($36,350 MSRP) joins the lineup between the turbocharged CR-V EX-L and range-topping Sport Touring hybrid model. The well-equipped CR-V Sport-L features leather seats, a power passenger seat, front and rear parking sensors and a power tailgate. A 9-inch touchscreen with a physical volume knob, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, Qi-compatible 15W wireless smartphone charging, an 8-speaker audio system and Low Speed Braking Control are also standard.
Bold gloss black exterior accents, rectangular exhaust finishers and Berlina Black 18-inch wheels add style and presence. For better traction management in all driving conditions, Honda's award-winning Real Time All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Control™ is available.
CR-V hybrid models represent a key step in the Honda electrification strategy. More than 50% of CR-V sales are hybrid-electric models featuring Honda's advanced 4th-generation two-motor hybrid system. Combined system output is 2044 hp and 247 lb.-ft. of torque for a fuel-efficient, sporty and capable driving experience.
Moreover, the hybrid powertrain brings a major fuel economy rating increase compared to the 1.5L Turbo powertrain, with an EPA city rating of 43 mpg in the city for Sport and Sport-L versus 28 mpg for EX/EX-L, and a combined rating of 40 mpg for Sport and Sport-L versus 30 mpg for EX/EX-L (all with 2WD).
Speaking to the importance of CR-V in the Honda lineup, the 6th-generation CR-V is built in three plants in North America*, including the East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, the Indiana Auto Plant, and Honda of Canada Mfg., continuing the 40-year legacy of Honda's commitment to build products close to the customer. Since 2006, Honda has produced more than 5 million CR-Vs in North America, with roughly half of those built in the U.S.

Great video, just to clarify: The hybrids in Honda work in a way in which the ICE engine acts only as a generator to the electric battery and electric motor, so the ICE engine only powers the electric motor. Thats probably why you really cant hear the engine that much. Only in highway speeds the ICE engine can directly also provide some energy directly to the wheels.

@@philk4944 Yes, it does affect mpg. It lowers it. Until we get this PHEV, all of the energy comes from gas. The energy you use in EV Drive takes an extra trip thru the battery, incurring more loss. Stop mashing it, and see.

@@trulycommonman7673 And the Prosche 911 in the 1900's absolutely looks like a copy of the VW Beetle, right? I mean, they both had four wheels, and an internal combustion engine that was air-cooled. And Donald Trump was amazed that he was the first person to notice that the initials for "United States" spell the English word "us." Using components that look similar, at the most basic level, does not make them copies. Outside of the fact that this Honda system was in development before Outlander was revealed, the two systems use these components completely differently.

I have a 2023 Mitsubishi outlander phev and it drives on pure electric for 38+ miles. At times when the engine is on, it acts as a generator especially on tarmac mode. In power and eco mode the IC engine sends power to battery and to front wheel depending upon the demand. Outlander also has a energy flow screen which tells you how the power is utilized while driving. Outlander has all the features you showed here except the blind spot camera. Nice video and very informative

@mj8495
@mj8495 8 месяцев назад
All vehicles have transmission that "transmits" power from engine to wheels. Traditional CVT is a system of belts. The Honda eCVT is more like a torque converter on a traditional AT. It has two sets of gears (clutches) that work together to vary gear ratios. Definitely better than belt type CVT! 😊

Sorry what is Unique Honda Solution in it ? It is Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV concept, a generator with EV motors infact Mitsubishi refined it and it also gives more power. Generator takes front wheel drive in hybird mode while back wheels always drives on electric Super All Wheel Drive.

@@trulycommonman7673 Well you just said how it’s different. Plug In Hybrid vs Non Plug in Hybrid. Honda doesn’t use the engine as a generator like Mitsubishi does. Honda has an e-CVT, Mitsubishi from what it seems only has a hydraulic clutch used when driving in parallel mode. What makes the Honda system different is their e-CVT or what is sometimes referred to as their e-Drive system. Weber Auto made a great RU-vid video explaining it in detail

Previous generation crv hybrid had active noise cancellation as standart and subwoofer in all hybrid trims, that resulted in very strong EV car feeling, sound(noise) ,reactions on throttle and smoothness. In fact it is EV drivetrain backed with battery and ICE generator. With moderate acceleration levels driver could easily forget that car had ICE because ICE was noticeable very rare and very quite even under full throttle. However that noise cancelation seems was focusing on ICE and rear axle noise on highway was too high.

Tested one today. I really liked the car. After driving the new Prius PHEV, the new Civic Hybrid and the Corolla Hybrid this does feel more refined but it should with price tag, right? The engine does drive the wheels directly at a certain speed, but it never feels annoying like sometimes with Toyotas. Unfortunately I was handed the car with a nearly empry battery so I couldn’t really use EV mode but drove around 40 kms in hybrid drive mode, with some sprints to check if it’s quick and at the end got 4.8 L/100kms. I found it a bit noisy at speed but OK. Overall it’s really refined and so spacious! It’s an amazing car. It’s on the top of my list for 2024.

At Honda the drive is done by the electric motor most of the time, the ice makes the power for it. At certain speeds the ice engages the drive system acting like a "3"rd or a "6" th speed (where power is needed). At Toyota and Suzuki there is another type of combination, where sometimes both the electric and ice drive the car, so the ice increases the rpm all the way to red line. Similar with the cvt gearbox (from the drivers perspective). Both are impresive engineering. Toyota (phev) is more powerfull, cause is ads better the ice and electric.

Regarding the handling (from the press kit): Damper control The CR-V has been perfectly designed to deal with broken road surfaces and uneven terrain, thanks to a flatter ride that prevents unnecessary movement over large undulations. The e:HEV has been achieved via amplitude reactive dampers that make the damping force harder or softer based on the vibration frequencies from the road conditions. The e:PHEV model receives a full adaptive damper system that reacts to a range of vehicle sensor data, including wheel speed, lateral and longitudinal g-force, and yaw rate. The system offers high levels of stability and ride comfort in Normal mode, whilst Sport mode increases the damping force, widens the operating range, and delivers a tighter, more controlled ride for dynamic driving.
