Very well done. I wish all auto videos were this detailed, methodical, and well shot.

It's bonkers that my local dealing is quoting me $350 for this service. I bought the parts and some extra tools for like $50. I noticed you didn't use dielectric grease, but I think I will be using it when I do my change. Another youtube video shows that they do use it.

Thanks for the detailed video! It helped a lot with my first spark plug change and I saved a pretty penny as well!

Bought a 5/8" socket per your reference (4:35) only to find out as I am trying to remove my plugs, that the 2017 CRV 2.4L takes a 14mm socket. I went to OReilly auto and they had a 14mm magnetic spark plug socket, then all went per your video. Sometime between 2014 (your CRV) and 2017 they must have made this change.

Glad it went well after you got the 14mm socket Kim.

That was way to early to change plugs. Waste of money. I changed my CRV's plugs at 120,000 miles and they were STILL good to go.

I am a newbie at this. First, great video, glad you mentioned about the gap setting finally too. So my question is, do I need to disconnect the battery while doing this too? Thanks again!
@starastronomer
@starastronomer Год назад
You're very welcome Rayne! No, you do not need to disconnect the battery. I take out the key so no one can accidentally turn on the key. ALWAYS do that when changing oil 🛢 so the engine doesn't start with a dry engine.

Hey there!!! Thank for the tutorial! It was great and now I feel ready to change my spark plugs! But I have a question, I have a crv but it’s 2008. Do you recommend I use dielectric grease for those since the car is older or does that not really matter? I’m going to put in laser iridiums. Thank you!
@starastronomer
@starastronomer 4 года назад
Thanks, glad it helped. I have never used dielectric grease on vehicle spark plugs. I always change them around 40,000 miles or so. Never had any issues in all my years.

You should be using Ngk plugs.

James Lund "Denso" is the original (stock) plugs that came with my CR-V. No reason I would go with NGK plugs although I do use them in other equipment.

How often should I replace the spark plugs ?
@starastronomer
@starastronomer Год назад
Nelson Antonio I see no reason to keep plugs in a car long especially when they are easy to change. About every 50,000 and they look great so far. But that's just what I prefer to do.

Is the Gap the same as the honda Accord 2.4, the reason i'm saying this because the mechanic put a crv engine on My car

Spark plugs come pregapped. Just ask for the ones in the motor

It’s.040 gap
@moregrouchy
@moregrouchy Год назад
@@yeetlordmcswaggins7104 It's a very good idea to check the gap anyway, as it is often close but not accurate on these pre- gapped plugs.

Did you use dielectric grease?
@starastronomer
@starastronomer 4 года назад
John Williams No, I saw no need to. I change them about every 40,000 miles and they are not "exposed" like plugs on the outside of the engine. These are on top and enclosed. No issues after two changes.
