The rear end of this dirt bike was in dire need of work. We’ve already tackled the shock linkage bearings, and here we’ll replace the swingarm bearings on our CRF450R. You’ll notice we have the engine out here, but that’s not necessary to do this job.
We’ll start with the shock. We’ll get it disconnected and removed and then we’ll move down to the shock pivot. From there, we’ll work on getting everything disconnected to remove the swingarm.
The swingarm bearings are actually several pieces: seals, washers, and the bearings themselves. You want to make sure each piece is greased before you install them. We’ll show you how to press them into place.
