Honda engine recall is a BIG problem & can destroy motor on popular vehicles

How long did it take them to replace it?

Yeah my 2017 Ridgeline is part of the list unfortunately this might take a long time to get the parts before we can schedule anything. I asked the dealer when I was there for the tailgate camera harness around 2 weeks ago and they don't have any news about parts as of now

@HondaJon will do, with this in addition the fuel pump recall on many honda models + crv stop sale honda is probably slammed.

Better than the domestic 3 auto manufacturers anydays.

@@theeverythingchannelyt548 Not the point, Honda today is still worse than Honda 20 years ago. Good chance it's not as much their fault as the fault of regulators that make manufacturers squeeze more MPG out every generation, ever pushing for lighter (weaker) engine components, tighter tolerances, and thinner oil.

Hyundai has recalled 1.4 million engines because they didn't clean out the engine blocks with machining chips.

Doubt it should start burining oil yet.

I’m a service advisor for Acura and they told us 95% of the vehicles recalled will need the bearings replaced.

@@fapmonstergabe8411 thank you for letting me know that, truly appreciated. My CPO b2b warranty runs out mid March and then the powertrain warranty runs out next December (my mileage is only 53k so age will hit before mileage) but I'm gonna plan on scheduling late Feb or early March for both recalls, if they are ready for them yet. Reason being is because the motor on my 18 Advance has a squeak issue. Very odd. A constant squeak squeak does not increase or decrease with rpm, squeaks when going over a bump, a squeak when I tap the accelerator pedal, and a squeak when I turn the engine off. Sounds like the belt tensioner to me, but others have said it could be the motor mount. Not a belt squeal. Definitely need it taken care of before warranty expiration it's so annoying. I want to like my purchase so much but it's fighting me. haha. Had a similar squeak on my cx9 that was a vacuum line loosely attached to the plenum panel and just needed tightened with a lock washer. It was rubbing another rubber/metal component causing a constant squeak. This however on the Acura appears to be something more complex.

I understand you. I took my Ford Escape in one time to have an oil change and tire rotation. They caught one of the rims on the arm of the lift while turning into the stall. It ruined both the rim and tire. About $1,400 in damage. They tried to deny they did it and said I hit a pothole. Holy smokes was I pissed off. I told them better look at your camera footage. And I said look at any of the other rims on my vehicle and see if there are any scratches. I said if you find a scratch I’ll walk away. The service manager went around to all the other rims and tires, and there wasn’t any road rash at all on them. So they replaced both the rim and tire. I’ve never ever been back to that dealership.

If the crank shaft was incorrectly machined, the damage is done. I can't imagine a dealership having anyone capable of pulling off the connecting rod caps, they have to pull off the oil pan,. seals, etc. THey will never get it back the same as the factory would.

Using water thin oil, 0w-15 and super tight bearing clearances, only a 10 micron clearance, (25 microns = .0010 inch) there is no room for mistakes. Since this went on for several years I am wondering if this is also a design mistake?

That is true. However that’s still hundreds of thousands of car owners possibly having major engine issues.

Update- Honda changed whole transmission under warranty, Belt Was gone inside transmission, HONDA CVT is BAD 👎, It was only 65000 km when it happened, I was looking for 5-7 more years with this car but now I'm disappointed 😞

Honda v6 still has that "weak link" timing belt no matter the year.

@@leebuck180 I'd rather replace a timing belt every 100k then a timing chain.

​@@bdo3043 If propper oil changes are done and on time there would be no need to replace the timing chain. I see Honda with timing chains on the engine at 300.000 plus original chain.
