Thank you. I am rebuilding a Honda FG 100 that I got for 25 dollars. The engine still started and runs, but the transmission is shot. Your video help answer sever questions i had.
The tiller is suppose to be greased every 25 hours or yearly. Almost no one does this and this is the main reason why their transmission strips out. The owners manual (viewable online) list on page 27 to grease tiller by removing the two phillips head screws and pump grease until old grease flushes out the top vent screw as an indicator gears are lubed properly.
Almost no one bothers to PM the transmission on these, Without regular grease exchange using the philips head grease port screws, the main shaft bushings wear out. Once the bushings get worn, gears dont mesh properly and you trash the brass gear. to do maintenance, pull the two phillips head screws on the case and push grease in from the bottom screw hole till clean grease exits the upper screw hole and thats it. If yours is already worn out you might find aftermarket rebuild kit that includes what you need to repair. for under 100 bucks. Honda OEM trans rebuild kits are $$$ and almost impossible to find for FG 100.
