That Blackwing Fork Brace defo makes a difference and a breeze to install, PROVIDED you realize ahead of time that you need 4, M7x1.0 x20 mm Socket Cap screws to replace the shorter factory ones, AND ORDER THEM AHEAD OF TIME. NOBODY and I MEAN NOBODY carries them, even Fastenal and Pac Bolt!! In reality, they should be included WITH two M7x1.0 x 3 or so bolts to cut the heads off and use and guides to keep the fender nut plate in position.

After viewing the in stall of the Blackwing Fork Brace, you can see it is far better design, heck it fits like a rubber glove, not just a glove. Found the brace on ebay. Thanks to the guy who found on ebay and posted his seller name. I also searched for the brace by the name and found it. But knowing to go to ebay was a big help. Ordering mine today. Ride safe, but most of all enjoy the ride, watch you 360 for cagers!

@pougatchoff That particular bike is going in for some work, and new tires will be part of the deal. Putting a fork brace on a bike with old and worn tires can in fact amplify wobble, making for a more rough ride. The BlackWing brace should only be installed on a new or newer tire, that does not have uneven wear. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for the tutorial. Followed the instructions to the letter (including putting it in the freezer for 1 hour to shrink it a tad). Fits perfectly. Love the way the lines blend right in. You'd really have to be looking for it to notice it. Thank you.

Looks great... but I can find no trace of where to buy them online... their FaceBook page mentioned ongoing legal issues of some sort. I am sick of trying to find one.. I may have to go with the Superbrace, I guess.

I just installed the BlackWing fork brace on my 2000 GL1500SE with a little over 70k miles. I put new Dunlop E4’s on about 1,000 miles ago. The video helped, but one problem...the studs provided were too small & went straight through the fender stays! I finally discovered that if I wrapped several layers of Teflon tape around the studs, it should hold as there is little weight on the stays. It worked but when I started to install the brace itself, the fender stays fell down. I had to install one of the longer brace bolts provided just to get the studs where I could reach them again. I was then able to install the brace by holding one stud while maneuvering the brace over the other stud. After a few light taps, the brace snapped in place. After installed, I went for a quick test ride & immediately felt a difference on my caliche road! The bike felt much more stable on the rocks! Turning around on the highway felt much better as well. Thanks BlackWing for a great, cost effective upgrade!

Thanks for the video...I 'd like to know where you purchased the Kuryakyn condor on your winjammer trim...I bought one for my GL1200 many years ago, but now for my GL1500SE I'm having a real hard time finding the 6" model (only found the 3" model so far). Thanks!

I ordered this brace but the tapered bolts and the 2 studs used for assembly are too small...I think my bolts are 7mm and not 6mm.

Rode today for the first time after installing the Blackwing brace. Installation was easy, the video really helps. The braces precision fit was like it was made by Honda. A couple of light taps on each end with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and it felt locked in before installing the four screws. Fantastic addition! Immediately noticeable tighter front end, more stable at any speed. More solid, stable, controllable, comfortable over rough & bumpy roads. I should have done this inexpensive mod years ago. HIGHLY recommended!!!

The BlackWing fork brace eliminates wheel wobble cause by fork twist and flex. It does this by physically clamping the fork lower legs together near the fork seals. It basically acts like a third triple clamp, but on the moving part of the forks. This keeps the fork lower legs in almost perfect alignment as they move under dynamic load on the road. With the brace, steering is much more controlled and responsive, making for a much better ride. Extends the life of tires and fork seals as well.
