Oh I beg to differ my friend! You can leave them out in the rain in Portland Oregon in the spring time when it down pours and fills anything left outside full of water! And that includes two of these engines, One on a McCulloch 3100 psi power washer! And one on a Jacobsen golf green lawnmower. They are good engines i agree! And crank that ol bitch up and wake up the neighbors! Spoken from a guy who's house is surrounded by lawnmowers and small engine equipment of all kinds that I stalk free Craigslists for!😏 And I also own a chainsaw collection of around 70 chainsaws! So my neighbors are use to me starting shit up at all hours of the day! But the key to being able to get away with it is, You work on their equipment and cars and save them a shit load of money! Let me give you a good piece of advice, when you go to start up something you have never started, Make sure that you practice the the most important things like, Where is the start/stop switch incase this thing happens to go wide open throttle and your freaking out trying to figure out how to make it not kick the rod right out the side of the engine block! Believe me when I say, We have all done it! What you have got going on when it surges up and down like that is dirt in the slow speed jet located under that black plastic plug. You have to remove the idle screw also made of plastic right above the slow speed idle jet remove the plug with a screw driver and take a look down inside the hole! There is a thirteen thousandth size hole that is even smaller than your trusty ol bread tie! I use a very small spring to poke the hole out with. 😉
