that guy is a great driver. keeping the correct racing line through every single turn and still being ridiculously fast through each one. that car makes a BEAUTIFUL SOUND.
Well damn! I'm just discovering this car and it is amazingly beautiful in looks and in sound! Hell, this puts those pitiful sounding v8s currently in F1 to shame soundwise! LOVE IT!
this is the best sounding car I have ever heard. Its a really tough decision. My favorite sounding engines were the v10 era f1 cars but I think this takes the cake.
Same here. My Dad was going to get an NSX for his next demo, oh well... That is one of the sexiest exhaust notes I have EVER heard! I wish Honda/Acura could make production V-8's. Wow!
At first I thought this was just an old Ferrari F1 V12 sound pasted over the video... the first clip of it going WOT past the camera and down the front straight sounds really similar to a sound clip that's all over youtube of the Ferrari V12. This ting sounds freaking glorious. Good job Honda, now freaking make the car for real...
@murphe777 Just to clarify. The dopler effect has nothing to do with amplitude or 'weakness' of sound. It affects frequency. The sound waves are bunched up if the object is traveling towards you and will reach you in quicker succession ergo a higher frequency and higher pitched sound. As the object travels away the sound waves leave the object at a lower rate of speed and reach you in slower succession ergo a lower pitch.
@jonathan102 I didn't mean that light had anything to do with the sound the car makes, although I can see how you thought that. I meant that, when the car is far away, you don't hear the sound for a second or two. That's why marching bands must always watch the conductor. If they followed by ear, they'd be behind.
This makes me miss hearing the words Mclaren Honda. I can only imagine if Senna were alive to see this. I pray that Honda does produce this and even still remakes the NSX under Acura. Either way whatever they do .....JUST..... KEEP..... THAT ..... SOUND!!!!!!
They were gonna run it at Nurburgring. They were on a warm-up lap when a caliper got stuck. They tried to get it off but didn't have the right tools. Honda, being Honda, forgot the Torx.
If Honda can win the JGTC then maybe they'll make have a road going model right after. The car looks liike a stealthy BEAST! something menacing! Bring it to life on the streets HONDA!!!!
@tingtongtim Sound and light travel at different speeds. You see what's happening before you hear it, in the same manner that you see lightning before you hear thunder.
@icedstar Unfortunately no, as far as I'm aware. They had to get a special permit or something to allow the car to race, so no new production NSX... :-(
This is only the beginning. Honda worked so hard to how to make cute incline 4 engine to surpass V6 or v8 engine and also to make it more reliable for bigger engine. Soon Honda will strike hard. I am Nissan Fan. I admire Honda's Dream the Impossible. Honda with V10 or V12 is around the corner.
3.4L 90° V8 32 Valve V8 DOHC. (93mm bore, 62.5mm stroke). Undersquare design, short piston travel allows for high RPM, generating high pitched "F1" or "I-4 Sportbike" sound. Engine sounds like it operates in the 10,000-16,000rpm powerband. Car weighs 2400lbs, constant mesh tranny allows no-lift shifts w/ paddle shifters.
They used to use engines based off their production engines, but for the last year or two the rules have changed so they all need to make a new race-only V8 engine that gets used in multiple racing series. Makes the cars closer and cheaper since the engines are used for more than just Super GT.
Detuned 3.4L V8 500HP @ 10300RPM Naturally Aspirated Engine from Formula Nippon. The HSV - 010 is a not a MR layout car, but a FR layout. Technology for suspension is the SUPER GT NSX suspension tech. Has a oversteering issue. A driver commented that it was hard to drive becuase of the oversteering
The sound must be real. If you saw the whole video, you would know there were about 3 cars being tested. So the "mismatched" sound you hear comes from another HSV-010.
I have a question. Super GT allows non commercial production engines to be used? Every soruce i here is that the engine is very simalar to the indy car engines. is that even fair considering i belive everyone else is using production engines?
