In this video I teardown this honda unit called MZKA(I get the letters mixed up sometimes as you will hear). This trans has a common problem of a noise in park and neutral due to a worn end cover. To fix this noise, I purchased a new end cover from Honda and a sleeved case from a Honda parts supplier. Installed it back in the car and no noise, unit worked real nice. Great video Gary! Nice to see that someplace has a sleeve type repair for the case. Much better than just buying a new dealer case to have the problem repeat at a later date.

Enjoyed watching your video and was waiting to see what youd say or not about the feed tubes connecting to the secondary shaft. Youre very experienced and i can say that as a Honda transmission builder of 10 years. If anyone is local to this guy needing transmission repair id highly recommend him.

I believe you are correct in the video, the transmission code is MKZA not MZKA 😄👍. I have the same transmission, mine is no good and I’m wanting to tear it down to see if I can learn anything. Thanks for the great info!

Thank you very much for this. I just bought a CRV with the GPLA trans, which is a pain to find. So I figure I'd give rebuilding it myself a shot. Thanks to your video, I have confidence I can do it. Like you said, it looks like a manual with a little bit of auto thrown in. I have rebuilt three Stealth manual transmissions, so I think I got this. Will let you know how it goes.

Gary, thank you so much for this content. I just bought a 2003 Honda Element and the transmission (4spd MZKA) screams when trying to shift from 1st to second. I just bought a replacement engine and transmission for a 2005 Element (also 4spd MZKA). The transmissions have a different part number. I was curious if you may know why the Honda part number is different.
