The Honda NC750X. My first time riding NC750X. A smooth, precise, well made bike that true to Honda, does exactly what it says on the tin.

I bought my NC for my retirement present, added taller screen, scottoiler and hard luggage, now I am going touring. It’s the only bike I have bought with my head not my heart, and it has grown on me. I love it

I’m not a bike guy but I need to commute and I want to tour. Heart is fickle and wants to run off to join the circus (that’s how I ended up in the army as a silly kid), done listening to that. Got a decent head though so it’ll be this or the CB500X. Because it’s not about the bike but the adventures it’ll take you on.

The more you ride this bike the more you like it and appreciate it. It’s that simple. Took me 5k miles to get used to mine but now I wouldn’t trade it for anything else! Does everything well, I get over 80mpg from mine, utterly reliable, the frunk is great. Doesn’t do 150mph but personally I don’t want to….

I've had mine for 12 years now. I've taken it to North America, North Africa, throughout Europe to many time to count and I can verify that this bike is bomb proof, and will never let you down. It a great bike and I can't see why anyone would say anything negative about it. I'm looking for a new bike now and I'm anxious that I would never find another bike like this one. Still rides like new but I've out grown it now. If you're thinking about this bike you're not going.g to be disappointed, it will tour, it will do the shopping and take your better half along with you is comfort. I have zero regrets on this purchase.

Living in NYC, this is a great bike. I don't have to worry about shifting and can focus on avoiding the many distractions (taxis, pedestrians, bicycles, scooters, etc.) Plus, keeping my helmet in the storage space keeps me from carrying it around all day. I don't care who likes it or not, this is a perfect city commuter (which is what I need). I don't miss traditional shifting at all.

People who hate the NC750X haven’t spent enough time riding one or are only weekend warriors who do a few poseur cafe rides on sunny Sundays. As a bike to absolutely do the job all the time with no dramas it’s very hard to beat. If you want to thrash it you can! Sports bikes can’t keep up with me commuting through London and definitely are no good for a weekend away camping with my lady!

Funny you should mention "winter bike" as that's exactly why I bought my NC750 (S version) so that I didn't have to take my recently purchased new Triumph Street Twin out in the rain. Within a week or so the Triumph sat in the workshop virtually unused. My real world experience could be summed up as... Going to work... Honda. Going shopping... Honda Sunday round the lanes... Honda Longer ride... Honda Bike meet... Triumph. Sad reflection on my personality perhaps but just what I found myself doing. That engine is a work of genius. Loads of useable low down torque and gives amazing fuel economy. As mentioned the practicality of the "frunk" meaning you don't have to carry you helmet around the shops and can pick up a bit of shopping is something you may not think is much of a deal until you ride the bike in real world situations for a while. Also. The bike may not be a sports bike but it's no slouch either. It easily tops the ton and then some. But... And isn't there always a but. I found my S version didn't handle particularly well and I didn't have the confidence, especially in cornering, that I do on other bikes. Ultimately, that kinda' killed it for me which was a shame. (The X version may well be better for all I know). Another pro or maybe con, is that nobody takes any notice of you, be that the police or pretty anyone at your local bike meet. You are completely inconspicuous. (apart from to other NC owners of course). In conclusion. Although I'd say it isn't "boring", neither is it "exciting" in the way the (cheaper) Honda Hornet is. Realistically it's pretty much everything you could need. Maybe it just depends on how "naughty" you want to be compared to "sensible". At least Honda give you the choice as both are great bikes.

I've had two NC's - both where the now discontinued "S" model which had a lower seat height. My first was a DCT, the second was a manual. Excellent bikes and very underrated. Relatively low revving (the engine was derived from the Honda Jaz). Very economical and well built. The forward-canted cylinders gave it a low C of G and it handled really well. My 2014 model was a bit harsh on suspension but they've improved year-on-year. The latest version of the X has a 30mm lower seat, perfect for us shorties. Showa non-adjustable forks with "Dual Bending Valve" cartridge which is an improvement over the older version. The horn position takes a bit of getting used to. I've "indicated" my displeasure to poor driving a number of times and conversely, "sounded" my intention to turn quite a bit 😂🤣

Had a shortish ride on my mates NC last year. Gotta say it completely changed my view on the bike. My biggest dislike was its engine, a twin. How wrong I was. My mate does a couple of Euro trips a year and that year he took the NC two up on both. Performed faultlessly. Still not a fan of the front end but that wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. But what a lovely motorcycle to ride. I’m an old fart now, so the NC would suite me perfect; twill do anything the wife and I ask of it. The other thing was even though it is about 30kg heavier than my bike it was so easy to lift off the stand, all the weight is so low down. Got me thinking now, haha. The NC750X was very close to the DR650 in the short list of next bikes. It's probably about the perfect bike for most of my uses and I may have loved it more if I got it. The reason I chose the DR650 was I wanted a bike with more character after riding the FZ6 for so long. My son finally understood after riding the FZ6 through traffic the other day. A guy on one of the DR650 owners page said the DR650 is the first bike he's had that has as much character as his old Moto Guzzi Eldorado 😅. Simplicity of maintenance and off road capability just sealed the deal. The NC750X is still high on the list for a future bike!

No doubt a practical bike for someone commuting regularly, a bike which fills a purpose pretty well but doesn't Excell on any level. I almost bought one when I returned to riding but upon research was blighted by less than enthusiastic reviews. I opted instead for the Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport, more style, more comfort, better brakes/ suspension and a good deal more pep. Great vid. After many vlog watching I bought 21 dct. Kept it 3 months. The frunk is brilliant. The rear filler a nightmare waiting to happen if cable stretches or breaks. Economical 75+mpg. Suspension awful. Performance no problem despite 58bhp, its torque helps this. Screen noise awful, suspension rubbish. Dct no thanks. Mine had plenty of corrosion, the swing arm was like box steel. I didn’t own from new so maybe was neglected but was setting in alright. Seat 100 miles was in pain. I sold it after 3 months being not prepared to absorb its niggles. Now got V strom 650 and imo night and day better. Suspension superb on rough, engine perkier and smoother, finish better and diy on par. User feeling, much prefer vstrom its a keeper but honda maybe better looking. I wonder if they put hornet engine in this. Mossey a well known bike tester ran one for a year and changed the suspension and raved over it. When I rode mine to wales was a bucking bronco. Tried adjusting rear suspension (front not adjustable) it seemed to me front/rear out of synch. My 21 yr old VFR had no corrosion at all. Put me completely off it. Nice riding position

The DCT version really makes sense as it’s a total breeze to ride & I can’t understand why anyone would buy a manual version as due to the low revving engine it constantly hits the rev limiter as you shuffle through the box. I’d be very interested in your thoughts if you eventually test ride a DCT version. Great video as usual 👍

I've heard of them doing in excess of 80 mpg , and servicing is relatively easy , valves especially so . However the styling is so , erhmm , characterless , bland and sort of , oh I don't know, Honda-ish that it puts me right off. Dogwise , it would be a Pointer .

Just re watched this video again, so enjoyable…..pity it’s like a fridge in Jersey, where I live…but come warmer weather I’ll be out on it…yeah the indicators switch is a bit silly….I forget where the horn is…I have engine bars, feet wind deflectors, fender extender, rear hugger, centre stand, hand wind deflectors …. I have a trickle battery connected….for me the one thing I really dislike are the awful screw, bolt…whatever they might be things that attach the battery cover, two of my fittings just broke…..a bush fix, some Velcro around the edge, way better than original awful fittings….I had a bad motorbike accident some 43 years ago, drunk driver almost ended me….did destroy my Yamaha RD250LC…now that was a loon bike….I really enjoy the DCT, saves my weak left wrist…..the modes are great, rain mode is best for slow town riding and of course in the rain, standard mode is fine for just pootling along……user mode, well I just played around with that…to me bit pointless….but sports mode…yep this bike loves that….you have to drop throttle right back to zero when changing riding modes while on the go, I would say the wind protection is fine, way better than the bikes from way back when I first rode, breaks are fine, tyres great…..I would say it takes a little practice to get used to DCT, but if you drive an auto car, it comes very easy, super bike, just does everything, if I was being picky, maybe a cruise control, maybe twin discs and maybe shaft drive, but of course this adds weight……will I change my bike……not a chance, it is perfect for me and makes me both smile as I did age 19 on my LC……fair weather rider, damn right I am……..sun not too far away I hope….cheers all

I bought the new 2021 model and got rid of it the following year. Horn button and indicator switches are oposite to any other bike I've ridden which I found difficult to get used to. Sounding the horn when trying to indicate on a roundabout generates some puzzled and annoyed looks. Sliding caliper, front brake is just not good enough and even Honda's little 500 adventure bikes now have twin discs. Front suspension too soft and soggy and the rear suspendion too hard. Rear of the drivers seat is too thin and is very painful after 100 miles or so so. Always on front indicators are just daft. Fuel tank filler neck placement mean the pillion sadle has to be lifted to fuel up. ( BMWs with under seat tanks have the filler on the side which is much more practical.) I can add that filling with fuel is tricky as there is no light under there and the tank base is too close which will throw the fuel up out of the tank if the pressure is not carefully controlled - so go easy on the trigger finger. Front screen generates awful noise and buffetting. Front mudguard too short to keep muck off the engine or my boots. Same with the back and I fitted a hugger. A soulless engine and a tedious, uncomfortable ride for anything over 50 miles or so.

Hiya Taym, good review with well balanced opinions, can`t be all bad. In fact "Bad" is not a word you could throw at this model of bike, anywhwere......it has its quirks like any other bike but no-where is it bad. Lots of comments about the looks being bland, but looks are subjective and anyway if you were after a mid sized mile muncher where would you go, they all look virtually the same, it`s a trend. They said the same about the front of the Hornet, have you seen the competition, they all look the same, transformer like or insect like, its the trend, most are nowadays, like it or leave it. The performance is spot on nearly 60 bhp-goes 120 mph "where in the Uk". would that not be enough bike. I mean my car does 117 mph apparently, though I`ve never taken it above Motorway limits - if that NT was mine it would be ridden the same.
