This channel was started as a means of keeping in touch with my brother. A sort of Modern day letter writing if you like. You are all welcome to watch, enjoy and join in. I hope you enjoy my muttering but if you don’t, you can always watch something else less boring instead.
I am just a random Yorkshireman living in Suffolk who loves to ride and sail. A real life look at bikes I ride and described in simple, honest terms without all the numbers and occasionally all the facts. My views are my own and occasionally others. Memories of a life growing up with motorcycles and an older brother recanted and rides out to places of interest. A very general channel with lots of muttering. If you take yourself or other people seriously, don’t watch.
Marvelous to hear it called a Guzzeee like we used to call them back in the 70's, instead of this modern faux Italian gutzi that you hear so often these days.
Ok a big question for you TAYM... IF You didn't have Buddy and you were buying a retro classic knowing what you know about both the T100 & V7 what bike would you have bought? If the Mandello had been about when I bought my T120 I'd have deffo gone for the Guzzi!
Haha let's face it TAYM buying an Italian bike for it's reliability would be a bit like buying a Bentley for its fuel economy 🤣it is a marvellous bike, looks absolutely stunning, sounds fantastic but that clock would drive me insane 🤣
My first Guzzi is the V100S Mandello and I’m really enjoying it after 4,600 miles. It’s in the shop now for an invisible coolant leak. The leak has been found, and I’m waiting to get it back. I’m going to ride a V7 during the Moto Guzzi demo next month just for the experience.
I tried it last year, and I loved it. This bike is alive! I’m 1m65 (5.5), and the seat height is perfect for me. I’ve found the V7 less intimidating than a T120, more stable and easy to ride, very well balanced. Certainly my next bike. Enjoy Life!
Loving my Moto guzzi V85TT,these are bikes that are appreciate by enthusiastic motorcyclists And agree about Mototecniks go above and beyond to give great customer service.
Will be putting down a deposit on a special edition in about ,6-8 weeks,it will be my first motorcycle in almost ,30 years, & what a stunner it is. Nervous & excited is how I am feeling.
Nice one TAYM Moto Guzzi or Bonneville? Hmmmm! The Bonneville is a little more refined and easier to get along with. When I first get on my V7 I never know exactly how it will behave. Until the engine has warmed up it is just a little reluctant, but only a little. The engine and gearbox oil being separate means the gearbox also has to warm up and it can be 10 miles or so before it becomes it's normal self. At which point the neutral light is easier to find. I love my V7 Stone and would not swap it for any other bike. An air cooled engine with pushrods and two valves per cylinder makes it a true retro and no greasy or gritty drive chain to worry about.
Good video TAYM. Guzzis are an acquired taste . Once tasted , you either understand and like them , or you don't . The engine design is immensely strong and the shaft drive is a huge advantage to those who travel long distances in wet or dry , dusty chain killing conditions . It's interesting to note that my recently rebuilt 1974 850 Guzzi has almost indentical horsepower and torque figures as this 2024 850 , 50 years later ! So maybe 64 hp is enough . Valve clearance adjustments are easy and quickly accomplished ( compare to Triumph and most DOHC machines if you don't believe me ) There has been a Little criticism that Guzzis are flakey , but I have not found this to be so . And Ay Up even Triumphs have been criticised by certain ridings , er I mean riders . I am lucky enough to own both marques and don't see any difference in quality . I think you gave the V7 a fair review and I hope one day that you cross the Rubicon and become a Guzzista . 😂
I had one of these (in red with the black plastic side panels) from brand new in 1977, great bike, great fun. It put out 32 BHP and would on a good day with a following wind, just about do 100mph. The X7 was quicker probably because it was lighter!!
Always a good review No time wasted on long lists of things that can be found if needed-just a down to earth ride and opinion along with a bit of humor Without a doubt my favorite channel Keep it up and keep it real Thanks And regards from Florida
Bravissimo Mr TAYM! The Pinkster loves the idea of owning the Special with twin clocks and spoked wheels. Unfortunately Moto Guzzi dealers are few and far between for me and that has been my hesitation in owning one as a main bike. I think a V7 and I would be best buddies if I bought one though. Great fuel range, shaft drive, that spanking engine, I'd ride it all of the time. Have a great weekend Mr TAYM and all you TAYMites!
Always enjoy your perspective on the Guzzi's! Would think at your height you feel a bit cramped as I'm 5' 9" and find my V9 a challenge to enjoy after 90 minutes in the saddle. Seat height is fine but seat to foot peg distance is too cramped for me. Hagon shocks and a Corbin seat have helped. I bought my 2021 Bobber Centenario in Jan of this year (new old stock) and initially was sure I was not keeping it but now at 1500km and needing first service I'm 50-50 on keeping. Don't love the spock ears clock but I can live with it but would have preferred a fuel gage over time and outside temp! Bike has come alive once it hit 1000km and I'll see how much better it is once rev limit is raised from 4500 to 7000 after first service. Certainly characterful and good looking machines, still, given a choice, I prefer riding my T120 every time (not a fair comparison to be honest due to cost & power). Would have had a BSA 650 instead but still not for sale in the States. For US roads I wanted a second/winter bike between 650-900 cc, Tiger 850s/900s are nice but ADV bike looks dont work for me nor does their height. Will wait and see if RE releases a Classic 650 or we ever get the Gold Star over here...or maybe a Scrambler 900. Sorry, bit of a mutter myself here lol Cheers, SW!
I think they are lovely looking 👀 bikes but as you say reliability is questionable pity really but the price is good really quality build wise from one I looked at seems good and the bingley wheeler as you know loves his I would have a test ride if I get the chance different from all those RE you see about take care taym
I suspect that the RE Classic 350 & the Moto Guzzi V7- were both checkbook motors winners' of bike of the year! I HAVE my dream bike, but- I've been known to wake up from a nightmare in cold sweat. The only image: either the RE Classic 350 or the Moto Guzzi!!
I want it , what a good looking bike, love the red with the black and those exhausts look very cool and shaft . Lovely for touring, plenty of power and torque, if only I had the money lol👍🏍️
Morning Taym 😊 I do like a Guzzi and like you, I have never had one, probably because I couldn't afford one. Now they are affordable and I'm past it and when I've stopped commenting on this I will be cleaning the chain on the Classic for tomorrow's ride 🤔 Guzzi sounds good
I’ve fitted a centre stand to my Classic Special. Took ages to come and the bolts are firmly on with loctite and the main one needed some heat applied but after the heat came off easily. Although the black around the bolt on the frame needed touching up! I just don’t understand not putting a centre stand on a motorcycle! Always, if it’s possible, fit one! 👍🤣
@@TAYM I’ve spoken to a few people who’ve stopped and admired my Special and say they are seriously thinking of buying one BUT as much as they like the spoked wheels they won’t get one they’ll look at the Stone because of the tubeless tyres. I can understand that BUT I have always gone the spoke way! 🤣
Great review mate. Nice bike, but my OCD wouldn't cope with the single off set clock lol . I'm still sitting on the fence with bar end v micky mouse on my T100 🫣🤔
Wow, at the start, look straight ahead……a Ducati Pantah (blue ish). That, along with the Laverda Montjuic was my dream bike back in the early 80’s. Oops, sorry, my excitement overwhelmed me there for a minute, Morning Mr TAYM, I do like the look of this bike, but that gearbox does sound clunky on the move, maybe it would bed in with a few more miles on it. What was the “always on” green light to the bottom left of the speedo ? Cheers
I really enjoyed this video from start to finish. I love my v7 SE. it has 2400 miles and is still getting better with the break in period. I love the rubble as well and when i give it some throttle she really comes alive. As you pointed out, it is light and nimble and loves the corners with ease and little effort. As my first bike i wanted one that i look over my shoulder at while walking away and i do. I love the heat it generates being air/oil cooled. Tells me everytime, yup we went for a lively ride. Installed center stand and engine guards. Both have come in handy. Thanks taym! If i lived up your way “i would feel comfortable talking a road trip to Scotland!” as you said. Thanks for the advice TAYM. Boston paul f
Morning TAYM whey hey what a treat for a Saturday morning, as you know I own both a V100 mandello s and a V7 special in white both are “ marvellous & lovely”. Definite keepers I just love the fact that they’re Italian, quirky, the engines brilliant for real world riding and you don’t see many on the road also servicing is reasonable at main dealers. Plus there are lots of accessories you can add to make it your “own”. I bloody love em TAYM 😊 thank you for bringing Guzzi’s to the masses👍🏻 now carry on that man Caio for now tat ta 👍🏻
Its a beauty. You cannot compare a guzzi with any other bike, i mean by the looks of it. I have had 6 guzzies but never a v7, hummm, should consider to testdrive one. You must feel like beeing in a candy store Taym ha ha, every week testride another bike. Amazing. Thanks for this video. Love from Holland
I’ve had my V7 special for 7 months now and absolutely love it. I prefer the special because of the chrome finish and the 2 clocks, they have come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years or so. What surprised me was how sporty it is, it really flies when you want it to
Hi Mr. TAYM, What a fabulous collection. This video provokes so many memories of the bikes I wanted as young lad and teenager. My favourites among these are the Dreams and Super Dreams, the Benlys and SS50. Ok Fizzie's and AP50's where more popular but this little 4 stroke always looked more robust to me, but the XL400 / 500's interested me the most, with that big lazy, thumping single. But, to be fair, the 500cc and less bikes just have more about them. So much character across one manufacturer. All the bikes are so easily identifiable as you demonstrated. I'm hoping to visit this collection in September. Thanks once again for this video and your regular mutters. Glyn M
Lovely looking "proper" motorcycle design aesthetic , everything the BMW you tested recently wasn't. I just wish I wasn't as put off by the rocking , I tried but just couldn't see me learning to love it🙁 ... My fault completely.
Tbh after a few thousand miles you don’t notice it at all unless your the kinda guy who’s blipping the throttle at every opportunity. Me I change to neutral at the lights and pull away in gear. Only rocks when you start her up. Otherwise I’ve never really noticed it
