I plan to get one. As I approach 60 years old I no longer have any desire to go fast or do anything risky. I prefer to take life easy and smoothly, and I don't think there's a better bike for the money for doing just that.

Horses for courses, everyone has an opinion …..for me returning to riding after 43 years…..yes when bikes were utterly insane…..I sadly was almost killed by a drunk driver…..fast forward 43 years, I bought my DCT version in January, for me it’s just perfect, sure it could do this better, or that lighter, or that more or that less, I care not a hoot….it just does it for me in every way….each to their own I say, just let’s all respect the fact we all love bikes……but oh the late 1970’s we’re such fun…..

Good review! I have had over 40 bikes through the years. Had an nc750s about 3 years ago, manual clutch. Wish I had kept it. Recently my local dealer had a 21 plate 750x with just 266 miles on the clock come into stock. It came with a centre stand, 2 usb sockets, givi rack and side rails and heated grips. I was disappointed when I saw it was the DCT version but decided to buy it. How wrong I was. The DCT is amazingly good! It’s an option on Honda gold wings and they are selling a lot of them from what I have read. Not had this 750x long but now done over 1000 miles on it. I love the DCT. It’s doing 70 mpg, good handling, plenty quick enough for todays roads in the U.K. I find the brakes to be fine, it’s a big disc rotor on the front. The only thing I don’t like really is the complicated menu features on the clock. Most are just unnecessary. The carrying capacity is just so handy. No top box stuck on the back, unless you need the extra capacity of course. It’s definitely not just a commuter bike, It will do everything you ask of it. A very underrated bike. I think most who say it’s boring haven’t actually ridden one. A quick 20-30 minute ride is no good. You need to put a few hundred on it to realise how good a machine it is. Cheap to run and service. Locknut and screw valves that you can do yourself. My previous bike was £900 for a valve service, I won’t miss that anymore.

I'm a senior expat Brit who is living in Central Mexico. I bought the 2020 DCT model from our local agency. This was my first DCT bike and it suprised me with just how easily it was to switch from riding manual gear shift bikes. Its a joy to ride in stop start commuter traffic where you can concentrate on weaving through traffic without having to keep manually changing gears. On open roads you seem to have more time to look at the scenery around you without the need to concentrate on gear changing. The only downside to having DCT I've found is when making slow tight turns there's no clutch to feather so you have to change your technique a little and keep a little power on to the rear wheel and use the back brake to control the forward speed. This takes some getting used to. Ive ridden my bike on a couple of crazy 800 mile trips (1600 miles return trip) each accomplished within 24 hours on mainly highway roads and find the bike to be pretty comfortable and vibration free. I have a taller touring screen than the stock one and this eliminates the wind buffeting. Over the years I've had a number of manual shift bikes starting off in my youth in the UK with BSA's, a Triumph Bonneville and a Norton Commando and more recently I've owned a BMW F800R - all nice bikes - but for fuel economy, ease of maintenance, and overall Honda reliability at a reasonable sales price my NC 750x DCT is a great dual sport bike for both day to day commuting and medium to long distance touring and it ticks all the boxes I need. This bike should see me out until I finally cock my toes! Thanks for a great review!

I purchased a DCT model in 2022 without even a test ride! 😳 I have an issue with my left hand so it was a no brainer for me, didn’t want a twist n go super scooter (T-Max) etc so the tiptronic and automatic option was the way to go for me. In town it’s a breeze and the engine will never stall, I needed a low centre of gravity because of my advancing years 56 🤪 It was a single purchase for me to do everything from commuting to touring, and it is simply the best all rounder giving an average 82 mpg and the best has been 96 mpg so far. The bike needs fettling in my opinion to improve things in a few areas to which I have done:- 1. Givi Windscreen & Deflector 2. Rear Shock changed Hyperpro 3. Fork Springs changed Hyperpro 4. Home made Shock protector 👌🏻 5. Tyres will be changed to Dunlop Roadsmart 4’s in near future! The first four changes have improved the bike to a much more enjoyable experience, and has made it a better riders bike. I like your videos 👌🏻 Ride Safe

Well no thrills maybe for you my friend! I’ve rented the dct version for a day and I had a blast in sports mode! I think it has more than enough power when you jerk that throttle. Very Nice review just a minor correction @6:10. The 3.4gal gas tank extends under the seat into the mid section of the bike. The ECU, Battery and main fuse box is just behind the storage compartment right between your legs, and the airbox is in front of the storage compartment right above the engine, requiring the partial removal of the front fairing in order to do an air filter change. I've got a 2023 NC750x with the DCT (Since 2022 Honda hasn't offered the manual transmission in the US)
@andrewthompson1313
@andrewthompson1313 7 месяцев назад
Apparently an easy to use and very practical bike. I commend Honda for offering this option. The engine design reduces the center of gravity and reduces maintenance cost (valve clearance adjustment). I would love to try the DCT. My concern would be learning how to do slow speed maneuvers in parking situations without a clutch. Nice review and demonstration of the use of the controls.
@SethJayson
@SethJayson 6 месяцев назад
I have zero difficulties with low speed maneuvers with the DCT. Bike's hefty weight is all down low and this helps with low speed stuff. Honestly, to me it feels as nimble as the little Suzuki 350s I trained and tested on. On the DCT, at low speeds, drag the rear brake a bit if you want to keep the revs up, and it becomes your friction tool / "clutch" but I almost never even need to do that. Now, if you're one of those people who likes to practice low-speed cone maneuvering a lot, the DCT may not be for you, but if you're in the US, you've got no choice. I love the DCT. Zero interest in going back to a clutch. This bike is just grab and go. Shifts smoothly and perfectly in and out of corners. You can hit a paddle for an override any time, but if you crank the throttle to pass, it knows what you want and downshifts for you.

I personally love the DCT. I own the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT and it’s just twist and go! Of course it has tons more power than the 750 DCT, but it’s the same principle. Now I can pay more attention to riding and what’s going on around me and not have to think about friction zones, up and down shifting at the proper time and speed etc, the DCT handles all of that unless I put it in manual. I’m not too thrilled with the lack of horsepower in the NC750X DCT however! Basically, it takes the fun and excitement out of the bike, but for daily rides to work or sightseeing, and for beginner riders I guess it would be just fine! Awesome video, thanks! 👏👍

I've got a 2023 DCT model and love it for its practicality. I've had at least six brand news Honda's since the early 1980's as well as dozens of new and used other brands. This bike is very good but it's clear that Honda have skimped in a couple of areas. The axles and suspension links were totally without grease from the factory. The stock tires lasted less than 4000 miles and were shyte anyway. The stock chain/sprockets is made from soft French cheese. The controls look a bit too cheap. Oh and the instrument panel appears to have been designed by a drunken Gibbon. Beyond all these things though, it is utterly useable.

DCT with its handlebar control for “manual gear shifting” is a good all around bike for beginners and older motorcyclists returning to MC riding. Though it is a “ master at none “ except EX OP, it IS a jack of all trades for all around riding from Touring to Urban to MILD off-road “exploring” ADV-Type 2 wheel transportation with useful utility via the “Frunk” plus additional top case & panniers. It is a niche MC that hits the bullseye for it’s intended marketing target. It is also a good - all- arounder bike added to a stable of highly specialized motorcycles.

I just sold it and bought a 1250GS instead and love the comfort on there. The prices are so different of course but I got tired of having to add things to the NC to make it more comfortable. I got the DCT last month. Its such a delight in Parisian traffic, both in the city and on the highways. Coming to this from a Suzuki Gladius (actual step down in power), the NC feels surprisingly quick. I am sat much higher up and the ride is more commanding with the wider handlebars. I also end up doing much higher speeds that what I used to on the Gladius. Can cruise all day at 135-140kph.

I love the color of this model! Unfortunately in Asia you can choose between red and black, only. Not even blue is available. :( That said, I was looking for a used NC750S with a manual because I thought the DCT would save weight, is cheaper and what you don't have can't break. Found a nice one but it had a DCT. After a few days I enjoyed the DCT so much, I was glad that I had it. The moment you think of changing gears and pulling the clutch, the gear is in - super quick, seamless! Upshift, downshift - like magic! It's like the computer is reading my mind! And if for some reason you're not happy, simply push the + or - lever, or ride manually. Interestingly riding without shifting relaxes me more, I can enjoy the ride more, even though I shifted all my life. Had to sell it after only 5000 km when I moved, but the DCT and the practical helmet storage convinced me. And the engine with its freight-train-like pull from just above idle, the engine sound, the low center of gravity, and the fuel economy, and....

It's a bike for people who like to ride for fun and maybe need to make a living on it. And maybe they don't have a lot of money, so low revving long stroke to lessen stresses on engine and improve fuel economy. Same with the front brake: one set of pads, one rotor. Bleed it yourself. Set valves yourself. And so on. I just wish it had a shaft drive. And the DCT helps if the hands are a bit sore form a lifetime of misadventure, it can certainly change gears faster and more smoothly than I can, or ever could :) Excellent riding position - none of this sport bike pretence, yet you can still have fun in the bends if you want. Almost perfect bike for the quiet enthusiast.

It's got torque. Just what I want. My SCR950 only puts out around 53 bhp but peak torque of 59 ft/lb comes in at 3,000 rpm. I considered buying a new NC750X DCT as I am a big admirer. I don't like the non-adjustable screen or the skinny bars. How much more would Rethals and the screen off the X-ADV 750 have cost? Cheap swingarm, as well. 7:38 Handsome profile, partly due to the canted-forward engine, which I think looks good. The dummy-tank storage is one of its main selling points. It's a bit cheaper here in Thailand than in GB. Depends what the exchange rate is, though. Excellent review. Nick J

@SethJayson 6 месяцев назад
Screen is good, but low. I'm 6'3" and my helmet is above the void. If you're more like 5'2" to 5'5" you might have your head in still air. But on the plus side the air coming off the top of that little screen is pretty clean. I have not wanted to change the screen for fear of losing my MPG or getting only half my head in still air, the other half in a turbulent mess. Skinny bars work fine, plenty stiff and almost no vibration.

All rounder? I don’t think so! It’s trying to be like a big scooter and is overweight and under powered., has a poor fuel range, dated instruments, only a single disc up front for a bike weighing over 200 kilos. There’s plenty of choice out there that make far better genuine all rounders. That’s the trouble, it’s licked by most of the competition.

Soooooo, it’s heavy, underpowered, dated dash, average brakes, quirky and the only thing to recommend it is a top box sized storage under the tank? What were they thinking of? I’d take a VStrom as an everyday workhorse instead thanks. At least the strom is fun, has decent brakes, is beautifully plush on suspension, has a decent fuel range and more leg room. In fact it’s far more appealing in just about every way. Sorry, I wouldn’t have that Honda if I was offered one free. It’s trying to be a giant scooter without actually being one.

@ReferenceFidelityComponents
@ReferenceFidelityComponents 5 месяцев назад
@@DSR1YT it’s a good bike but not without flaws like most bikes. I’ve a few and owned 30 odd and gravitate towards characterful bikes. The Vstrom for me lacks a bit of character. It’s super smooth, comfortable and spritely rather than fast. Carries its weight so well you’d think it was a 250 and despite being as basic as they come is remarkably capable and has extremely forgiving ride and handling. Very sure footed but it doesn’t engage. It’s a reliable workhorse that’s easy to maintain and ride. It deserves its dependable, comfortable and economical rep but for visceral thrills or character, best look elsewhere. I value mine for its strong points and safe handling, especially as a winter bike (ride year round) and I was probably too severe on the Honda as in truth they both do a similar job. However the Vstrom is stunning vfm as a used buy so can’t see past it when put up against modern commuters and utility bikes from other brands. Hope that makes sense?
