I bought a second hand Lower Fairing from a fellow member from one of my many FB Deauville Groups. The original owner had fitted it to his machine, but because he had his bike lowered, he felt the ground clearance was compromised and the Fairing would become damaged.
The Fairing cost me £40 and I got a pal of mine, who owned his own Body Shop before selling it prior to his retirement, to paint it. He charged me the cost of paint and materials plus a very good drink……Thanks Geoff.
Having got the Fairing home I noticed some parts of the fixing kit were missing. I contacted Skidmarx who sent me a parts list and installation instructions. Thankfully the missing parts followed shortly after.
You will see from the pitting of the unpainted Cowl, the front end is subject to stone chips. To overcome this, Geoff suggested I fitted Vinyl Film to areas I thought at risk. I also fitted some film just above the foot pegs each side as I notice my Textile Trousers/Boots were beginning to scratch the Fairing paint.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the result………..even if there’s more plastic to remove for maintenance!
