HONDA ODYSSEY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA, OIL PREASURE LIGHT FLASHING CODES P2647 - P2646. 

If the oil light is flashing, the oil level should have been check before road testing the vehicle. Great way to lock up an engine.

With my 2006 Honda Odyssey...I had the vsa and check engine light come on and the van shook and sputtered horribly. In my case, it had two issues...one: it needed an oil change as the oil was really dirty and two: the sputtering had been caused by the number 3 fuel injector had went bad. It threw an error code saying number 3 cylinder was misfiring. After checking the coil pack (by unplugging and seeing if the van got worse or stayed the same)...it was determined the coil pack was not the issue, also the spark plug was changed. 30-ish dollars for the new oil and filter and 20-ish dollars for a new fuel injector and 15 for the new plat. spark plug. So roughly 65 and the van does fine now.

I had the same issues. Added more oil..bam! She's good to go! I have 07 Odyssey 176, 000 miles and change my oil regularly but somehow developed a tiny leak.

Replace the VCM Solenoid Sensor. $800 at the dealer, $500 everywhere else. I got one at the junkyard for $16.00….works great.

We bought a 2012 Honda Odyssey with 80,000 miles on it and evidently they are bad for using oil. After driving ours for two weeks I pulled the dipstick out and there was very little on it. On weeks that we drove it fairly heavy it would use 2 quarts of oil a week So if you drove it 4 thousand miles between changes it would literally use all of its oil and it didn’t leak a drop. I started reading on the Honda forums and people are disabling the cylinder deactivation or eco-mode By putting a resistor in the temperature sensor harness to make it think the engine isn’t completely warmed up. I was driving our van at night and there was a semi truck behind me with his highbeams on and I noticed when the eco-light came on I would start seeing a haze of blue smoke coming out of the back of the van then I realized where all that all was going and sometimes you could feel the engine quiver which I thought was a transmission problem at first. I ordered the little resistor kit off of eBay and disabled Eco mode and I can’t tell any change in my gas mileage but the car doesn’t use a drop of all now between changes. I’m really not a fan of these vans anymore this thing has been a lot of headache Even though I think I have it straightened out now.

Shouldn't another check be to push the trip mileage button to bring up the oil change interval? On another video, it showed a -200 indicating that the owner had gone 200 miles past the due time for an oil change. After an oil change, you would want to reset that to 100%.

My Odyssey had the same errors and this mechanic is correct. But there is something else that is VERY important, there was a CLASS action law suit against Honda for 2008-2013 Odyessy for this very problem. My dealership didnt tell me about this. My mechanic did. So Honda is responsible for all the repairs based on the lawsuit. Just Google the lawsuit. honda odyssey 2013 lawsuit

I have a 2006 Honda odyssey when I press on the gas it doesn’t want to go I have the VSA, engine, D is flashing brake light on. Sometimes when the car is running the gas gauge goes to E even though it’s full. I replace the battery and replace the alternator it still didn’t help. The car keeps shutting off unless I jump it. Thats the only way it starts. should I just Junk the car?

My 05 ody got jumped today and shortly after check engine light came on, then shortly after that vsa warning came on, neither are flashing but are steady. My oil is def over 1k due for oil change and my sliding door doesn’t operate right and I have a parasitic drain on my battery, due to the door not latching hence dead battery and jumpstart, So I’m guessing I have an oil issue. Door has been messed up for over a year, guess it’s time to go get the code checked at the local oriellys or autozone for free. Do you have any other ideas on what I could do to trouble shoot in the mean time?

My 2006 Honda odyssey vsa light will be flashing and all of a sudden it won’t allow me to accelerate 7 to 6 seconds. After that the light will go away and finally the van will drive back to normal. This only happens when I’m making sharp turns to the right or left. My steering wheel is crooked could it be that I need an alignment and that’s what’s causing van to shake and the VSA light to come on when I’m making turns ?Can you please advise me what can I do? I don’t have a lot of money and I don’t wanna take it to the dealership. Thanks

Honda odysseys, have a fail safe, when youre way over on your oil change interval, the check engine light will come on, after a number of miles if the oil change hasnt happened, it will start the rough idle, no power, vsa error flashing. Basically a limp mode, hopefully to freak you out and get you to a dealership/mechanic. Pull over, turn the car off, place in park, turn it on, problems gone. It will continue to happen intermittently until you get the oil and filter changed and reset the oil life monitor. My 06 touring does it everytime i run 500-1000 miles over the interval lapse. I change it, boom, no issues for a few months until i procastinate on the OC again lol.

Chapter 1, Heres the real question you should be asking yourself, how in the world did your engine end up 3.5 quarts short on oil!!! Onto chapter 2, you get your oil changed or you've added oil to the engine bringing the level back up to where it should be. And a few thousand miles later you end up with the same problem! And when that happens its not gonna have anything to do with a programming issue. Chapter 3, Better find the leak cause that's not normal, most likely its gonna be your VVT or VTEC Solenoids, possibly the Oil Pressure Sensor. Either way you will continue to have the problem if it repeats itself, and constantly driving with a problem like that will destroy your engine. Cause without proper oil pressure oil will not coat your upper cylinder walls and that will cause catastrophic damage to your vehicle. Last Chapter! This guy missed a huge part of the diagnosis for CEL Codes with Oil Pressure Light and VSA Light on. Also just cause you clear check engine light codes doesnt me a thing without driving it. I mean seriously if you just cleared a CEL code and you start your engine chances are you will not see a check engine light come on until you've driven the car again for atleast 15 minutes to an hour. It could even take longer than that depending on the problem.

I have 305,000 miles on my 05 Odyssey, and my oil pressure light came on then went off. I have had a check engine light on since I bought it and i have never checked the code. The plastic top cover that says Honda is missing on the engine which makes me think this possibly is not the original engine but the dealer did not know. My '05 odyssey had code p2646. Did oil change, code went away for a few days and came back on with same code. Have no idea how to upgrade the software so now it's in the shop....but it took 2 days for the code to come back on

when "check the oil" is repeated over 20 times with 'oil' being repeated over 90 times then that is called a customer upsell to a regular 'oil change'.

1. Engine oil level is low or losing pressure. 2. Check the vehicle stability assist (VSA) system with a dealer. 3. Check which sliding door has a problem.

But an oil change is only a temporary fix..on my 05' it turns out excessive oil consumption is due to oil seeping through valve guide seels..burns off finaly killing cats..those lights will come back. Good luck

Hi George. I have a 2005 Ridgeline 3.5 engine. Check engine light on, Dtc P2647 rocker arm actuator system stuck on. No other warning lights coming on, engine runs find. I clear the code and almost comes back immediately. Change oil twice and engine light came back immediately went to Honda dealer and requested to program the ECM they didn't do it. Any other suggestions??

Mine came on during hard turns, only then Vsa comes on. Then I just pull over turn off the car and disconnect neg battery for a min. Then start the car back up. Vsa gone.

This was not very helpful at all. I think you took it to a shop to clear those codes. Not just the ordernary guy or female is going to do this without a shop!

Why are you driving it with oil light on? Thats a no brainer, stop and check the oil before you test drive it. Your just messing the customers car even more than what it is
