Honda Prelude (97-01): Exterior door handle replacement 

Thanks! that's a good suggestion but I have to do it again in order for me to count those rotations. In the moment I just focused on doing the best job that I could so I didn't break anything and put it back together properly. I also open the door like that by gently lifting the handle and then using the top of the door to open it the rest of the way. Good luck with removing and repairing your door handle. Please comment again after fixing it so the rest of us can learn hot to fix it and can stop buying these expensive door handles. Maybe even make a detailed video about it.

Thanks. One of the most obvious reasons why the door won’t open is because the door handle rod is out place or broken. I would try to remove the inside door panel and try to look to see the reason as to why the door is not opening.

Anytime. I got lucky I was able to find a replacement door handle painted in the same color as my car but I was mentally prepared to having to paint the door handle to match the color on my car. If you can find one worth buying but not in the color black then see if you are able to sand it and paint it.

Thanks. I bought my door handle on Ebay because they are not sold new by Honda and I could not find one any where else. I bought this one used but it's actually in really great condition. Good luck with your Prelude.

This door handle was already broken when the car was purchased but I would not be mad if the other one broke either. It's just a known problem.

No I never had this issue. For it was only the broken door handle the issue. It could be one of two things: first your locking mechanism might not be fully engaging maybe because a lack of power or it could be faulty. Second, there could be something broken like a rod or it could just have come out of place. To check for anything that is broken you are going to have to remove the inner door panel, I show this in the video, and check if anything is broken or out of place.

I don't know of any other door handles from any other models that would fit the Honda prelude. I know they are pricey but it's something we preludes owners have to deal with unfortunately. Glad I could help.
