Scotty. I think that survey is fundamentally flawed. It seems to be based on the assumption that all people have are equally as emotional and/or that they are equally divided among brands. Perhaps the MBTI feelers tend to lean towards brands that focus on emotional selling and thinkers lean towards brands that deliver on rational reasons to buy (eg Toyota/Honda). Honda sales are down in 2020 and 2022 but perhaps those 'thinkers' are significantly less inclined to buy during periods of major uncertainty.

I recently purchased a Mazda since the dealer wasn't charging over MSRP. My family switched from buying only Hondas to now looking at Mazda and Toyota since the Honda dealers near me wanted 30k plus for a civic. CRV's are now 35k+ near me, absolutely insane

I ve always been a fan of Hondas. The reason I switched from Honda to Toyota is comfort. When driving Toyota you immediately feel this super soft and quiet suspension that really appeals to me. Honda has better steering and overall a more sportier feel but the older I become the more I tend to value comfort, and Toyota does deliver it better.

I finally got a chance to rent a brand new Honda Accord and then recently a brand new Toyota Camry. Although I consider the new body on the Accord, extremely bland compared to the last generation. I must admit when it comes to the fun-to-drive factor, it easily beats out the Camry. But when it comes to the most adjustable and comfortable seats. The Camry wins

I've owned BMW, Range Rover, Infinity, and Jaguar and although a base Accord doesn't compare to those cars it's enough to keep me happy with it's performance. The best thing is the incredibly low cost to own and incredible reliability. Not sure why people don't like the CVT engines but mine has been a pleasure to own as far as I'm concerned. Of course the fact that I got into that car for $21k is a big factor... no way I'd pay $40k for an Accord new today and still expect to be as pleased. This must apply to only the most recent Hondas. I've owned nothing but Hondas for 30 years and only two times did I ever go to a shop for anything but tires, oil change or batteries. My 1998 Civic hatchback had the AC go out about 160,000 miles. They replaced the compressor. Then at 165,000 it had a wire bundle chaffing issue that causes the headlights to strobe really fast and they weren't bright enough. And it also caused the speedometer needle to waver back and forth about in a 10 mph spread, so I couldn't tell exactly how fast I was going. But they fixed the wires easily and didn't even charge me much for that. Those occurred in 2006 and 2007. My brother bought it and still drives it and it's 25 years old. All my other five Hondas have required nothing but normal maintenance. I've never been on the side of the road in a Honda but two times when I stupidly ran out of gas and once when I slid off the road on ice and had to be pulled out! Not the cars fault, it was the dummies fault.

Great video. I bought a new Honda Accord back in 2001 with the V6 engine, it has been an extremely reliable car. All I have had to do to it is wipers tires lights and brakes in 160k miles. I still drive it today. I also bought a new Toyota pickup truck in 1994 which was the same way, extremely reliable with the same service record except i had to put in a clutch last year. I changed the oil every 3k miles. I got tired of them both so back in 2010 I bought a dodge ram 2500 with the Cummins diesel engine to pull a 30ft camper and I have had more trouble with it in 45k miles than my Toyota in 160k miles. As far as the Honda, I bought a new Honda CR-V hybrid in 2022 and love it. I will have to say that I liked the Toyota venza better but when I ask how much to change the batteries in 10 years the shop told me the venza was 10k VS the Honda at 3500. Even though I liked the venza better, it wasn't worth, 6500 dollars more in 10 years for the batteries. I keep my cars even though my neighbors laugh at me for it until they are worn out, that's the only way I can get my money's worth out of them since the prices are so high.I am 64 years old now and retired. Hopefully I will never have to buy another car, saving me lots of money and debt. Honda or Toyota you can't go wrong, with them, they are the only car brands I would buy.

The coupes didn't sell well.... Preludes didn't sell well either. They were too "personal" for a mass marketer to produce and they didn't have pricing power to make them pencil. There are very few coupes left in production by any manufacturer and those that are mostly are performance cars or high end. No one thinks of Honda as a performance brand. It's more like a "transportation appliance". People want reliable, even if abused.
@lucky889s9
@lucky889s9 Год назад
The engine reduction is due to regulations. Carmakers don't really plan on going turbos, but lawmakers require them. And the coupe models are not selling well, it's basically more practical with 4 doors. And coupe is too niche as hobbyist model for fanboys. Those two reasons you mentioned are not entirely Honda's fault. But their fault is jacking up the price while lowering their quality. That's what making it bad value for money. It's their main downfall

Build quality sucks now. I worked at kamco in west unity Ohio. They did all the plastic parts for Honda. The parts constantly come out with jagged edges or don't fit the measurements but they made us pass them anyway. I quit after a month. If I was spending 49 grand on a car I wouldn't want a door with jagged edges on it

I do not cry for Honda. 90 Honda Civic base model, 235k miles, 98 Honda Civic HX 256k still have.

@@slothypunk I don’t want a new car. You need to get a mortgage for a new car - ridiculous prices. All the computerized extras cost more to maintain. I don’t need a car that does everything except make coffee though that will probably be next. In case you think I’m a Luddite, I was involved in data processing for all my working years. I know what it can and can’t do. Sometimes simpler is better. I’ve been in cars with owners who couldn’t figure out the functions on their screen. I had to teach them the basics of operating it. So, I’ll go for a “vintage” car that’s been maintained.

Loved, loved, loved my 2004 Honda Pilot! Bought it at 84,000 mi and had to junk it just a few months ago at 255,000 mi. Original transmission all the way to that point (I consider myself very lucky in that regard). Loved my Pilot, but I was not considering replacing it with a more recent generation model after hearing about some of their potential issues and not being a fan of the redesigned body. I have a 2018 Ridgeline Black Edition and had to replace the torque converter at 110,000 miles. That was a $5,000 repair. This failed even though I followed their service protocol. I will say Honda paid for half of the repair so they knew there was a problem. I also noticed the replacement torque converter has a different part number which usually indicates a redesign. They denied any defect even though these failures for this model are well document online. I’m going back to Toyota when this truck dies.

I've owned 2 Honda Civic. One was a 2005 and the one I have now is a 2008. Scotty is right about the brake rotors and power steering leaks. I find the biggest weakness in Hondas is the electrical system. It's not the greatest. Seats are not comfortable, I have a small pillow to support my lumbar spine. I was experiencing lower back issues sitting as the seats have this excessive curve in the seat. I've had my 2008 for 12 years now. It's not too bad, engine still runs with no problems at 178,500 miles. I might try a Toyota next time when I'm ready for something new.

Happy Easter All: I've been lucky to own many Hondas. The last one I owned was a 2007 Odesy van that was modified to the handicapped capacity. The transmission got screwed up after the dealer did a software upgrade. Well the transmission began to fail while still in warranty & the dealers, 2 , refused to replace it. After that situation I will never own another one. Great channel Scotty. TMP from N.J.

A few years ago I upgraded and bought a 2016 V6 and at 7-years-old in 2023 its running like a top. I confess I like Toyotas too. But I prefer the relatively luxurious interior factor of the Honda V6.

For a "luxury" brand my whole interior rattles, panel gaps, loud road noise, backup camera from 2010 and I could go on and no. I'll drive it for a while but I'll probably go back to Kia or Hyundai.

Coz they have closed half the dealerships in Australia, shrunk their inventory down to like 6 cars, charged more for each one. And their servicing at the Honda dealership are so bad, overcharging for the bare minimum work they do. I had my car "serviced", made me get new rear brake pads, I feel they aren't as grippy. Battery died a month after the service and two months after my aircon has stopped working.... I used to be a loyal Honda driver...now I feel my next car will not be a Honda anymore.

I think it’s because Hondas customer base is a little more higher class so when they buy the car and don’t see all the flashy bells and whistles there isn’t as much for them to compliment about the car. If they reviewed people with older Honda cars they’d probably be one of the top reviewed brands because it’s people that know what they have and it’s a rock solid car and they don’t care about the extra flash. The only reason this is the case is because car prices are through the roof. Once they reach more normal lower income people they’d see a rise again on new purchases.
