Bike picked up a ton of torque straight piped - just a little comparison video of the cobra slash cut drag pipes with the supplied baffles vs straight pipes. quite a sound difference.
To everyone commenting, I did rejet the carb and adjust mix screws - I actually did a video on how to do it. Did the pipes and carb at same time. When chrome pipes aren’t right, the whole exhaust is blue - chrome on the 90s is normal. Stock exhaust has chrome covers, that’s why they aren’t blue 👍
I just got a 1995 model Shadow with those same pipes and by the sound of it there are no baffles in there. I love the sound. I just have to trust that the previous owner got the carb rejeted and everything adjusted. The bike feels pretty dialed and nice.
Im pickin one of these up tomorrow for 300 bucks, thing aint run but hopefully I’ll get it running soon these things sound fuckin dope it’d make a sick first bike
I keep winding up here man 🤣. The drilled baffles on my stock 750 exhaust sounds pretty nice, but I've been fighting the urge to build my own exhaust...
i had bought mine with out the baffles in it, i think i have cobras on mine, heat shields are non existent on my bike though... but mine does sound more like how a harley would, not sure if its because its the ACE or if its because it goes from the skinny pipe to a big one
The ace and the aero have single pin crank just like Harleys that's why Honda was sued for that sound! The Sabra and the shadow have dual p i n n e d cranks which make them smoother and actually have 10 more horsepower!
I cut about 6 inches off some 2 in harley baffles and installed them in in my cobra pipes on my 97 1100ACE and it sounds perfect. My buddy was riding lead and he could hear me over his Harley. Really made a awesome sound for me but my pipes measure 2⅛in so it doesn't have alot of back pressure
Looks to me like you are running it way too lean. Your pipes are blued which means you're running hot, maybe too hot and could burn a hole in the pistons over time. I suggest turning the mixture screws out some or even rejetting the carbs for those pipes.
Hello thunderhead. I hav an 04 vt1100 with the same tail light setup and turn signals. Im having a hard time finding saddlebags that fit due to the turn signals. Yours look Nice and fit good. Where did u get those?? Wut r they called??
Had a 750 with V&H pipes which sounded similar to this vid. Baffles in doesn't sound great and no baffles sounds hollow once you open the throttle up. Cutting the baffle in half and then drilling some holes in the face of the baffle sounds great. Did this to my cb500k as well. I've a vid up here of the 750 shadow with this set up, but the vid of the cb500k is no muffler.
Couldn’t wait. I got home from work and cut the baffles in half and drilled 4 holes in each on the back. It sounds good without being obnoxious and not having baffles at all.
I think part of the blue everyone is seeing is the reflection of the blue car in your driveway, now guys I'm not saying it's all of the blue but some of the blue
@@louisvilaros9066 I have had loud exhausts on every bike and idiots still cut me off doesnt change. it doesnt save lives you might get occasional person who can hear you so it helps but doesnt mean its always going to helps so the whole loud pipes save lives bs isnt true its probably affective like 25% of the time
@@MrTommyLove i have personally almost hit a few bikers in my truck switching lanes on highway because i couldn't hear them or see if blind spot. Bone stock quiet. My bike is obnoxiously loud, when i split lanes they part for me before i get up there and i give the thank you nod. Getting cut off by idiots comes from alot of factors, not giving yourself distance, lane position, etc....biker 101. But if your pipes are loud they will hear you 100% of time, especially in slower city travel, under 40mph.
Loud pipes save time! Drivers get the hell outta the way when they hear loud pipes. I dont like loud pipes dont have them on the bike im using but boy do they split cars like Moses
If you don`t change the jets in the carbs will it run too lean or too rich? i would think it would need to be richened up a bit cause of no back preasure overheating the top end.
Loud pipes help, but they do not save lives. Learning to be a good rider, practicing your riding skills saves your life. Nice sound on the bike though.
For some reason it didn't sound that great with the baffles in, and worse with them out. I guess if you're going for loud, you got there. As one guy commented a few months ago, you have lots of bluing on your pipes near the heads. That usually indicates running lean, but it's pretty hard to watch a video and make an accurate assessment. Curious, did your performance improve? Or get worse? A couple buddies of mine removed their baffles (Harleys) and even with power commanders adjusted, they lost some performance as far as quarter mile times, top speed, and a slight loss of fuel economy. One of them put his baffles back in, the other prefers loud over performance.
I did a 3 part series on this where i rejetted before i did the exhaust - you cant do one without the other and expect performance. In my case it felt like it gained 1/4 more power over what it had before.
I'll bet when you were a kid you attached playing cards onto your bicycle in the spokes so that it would sound cool. Besides annoying neighbors and car drivers (as if we need more pissed off cagers), loud pipes fatigue the rider on longer rides. I prefer my stock pipes, thank you. I can still hear birds chirping as I cruise along on country roads. I do however need to either rev the engine or beep the horn when approaching bicyclists, otherwise they sometimes don't hear me coming. I am also a firm believer that the Honda engineers did a great job of designing the stock pipes to work in concert with the engine and fueling in order to maximize long term reliability.
I would have never changed them if I didn’t have to lay the bike down to miss a driver that didn’t see me. Stock exhaust was obliterated completely unfortunately. Have it hanging on the wall as a momento - very expensive to replace. I basically just redid the exhaust as cheap as possible and sold it.
Dude, your pipes are way too hot. Too much fuel i think. May want to get that tuned. Thise pipes are very blue at the exhaust ports. Just an obsevation
Well, search my name and Honda 1100. I jetted it to where it's supposed to be. That's just what happens when your actual pipe is chromed. If it was jetted wrong, which lean is hot, it would be blue way way past the 90s on it!!!!
+CRFHONDARIDER100 well I can tell you this much - I jetted and adjusted for no baffles and had to put them in immediately because the lady hated it - she's the boss. Anyway, it would have been rich if anything.
