Welcome to the channel todays bike is the 2002 1100 Shadow SABRE. This bike is 1100 cc V - Twin Carbureted Front and back Disc brakes 5 SPEED Let's ride!
Damn my first bike was also a 04 1100 sabre in red , had it for about a year now and I couldn't be happier... Still haven't dropped I'm just waiting on that day
2002 sabre is what i have. Its the first bike i ever touched. Only ever dropped it the first day i bought it. Just a slow speed corner tip over, hardly even scuffed it. Love the thing
I just got an 03 Sabre, same paint scheme as this one, owned by a older lady who said it was way too much bike for her, mine has the vance and hines 2 in 1 exhaust, dynojet needles and jets and K&N filter under the seat, whoever had it before me had the tune just off, I got it all right and this bike rips, it makes such great power with all those aftermarket parts, it can show you 75MPH in 3rd gear with no prob, cant beat a honda, they seem to always get it right
Hey I just found a Shadow Spirit 1100, 97 with lots of mileage but incredible shape. Finally got it for 1000$ CAD. My first bike and I'm so happy I can't wait for the snow to melt!! Nice video and useful tips! Cheers from QC!
I used to have this bike a 2002 Shadow Sabre (bought it new in 2002), with the red flame paint. For the size of the engine it was not all that powerful. But then it only had like an 8:1 compression ratio. I had it for 3 years before family obligations had me sell it. Cheers!
great video! awesome bike, possibly a little slower than i wish it was but moves me pretty well!. great midrange power. i use a saddlemen bag for a back rest, very comfy for my bad back. bike likes to carry speed into corners, thanks for mentioning that, it can be a handful if you go into too fast, feels slower than it is.
I have a 06 1100 Shadow Spirit bought brand new. Now have almost 50,000 miles on it and so far, only replaced Voltage regulator Fuel pump and battery. Otherwise just basic maintenance and it's still running great also a carburetor cleaning adjustment. I love this bike and I've had dozens of others including Harleys and Triumph.
I know it is nice I’m tempted to put a mustang seat with a driver backrest but it’s expensive. I might make something instead. This bike handles great too.
Nice bike. I have a 04 vt1100 Shadow. Came with Vance & Hines short shots. Mustang seat, sissy bar and rack. Stage 2 kit and the nice quick disconnect windshield. Forward controls. Paid 4k and I love this bike. Was looking for a water cooled shaft drive low maintenance and this was it. Came from an 87 Honda CX500. I love the fact this bike at 65 is hardly working rev wise and there’s enough weight you don’t get pushed around on the road. Crank it and there’s plenty of power. Only thing I wish was different would be a bigger tank as I know at 150 I’m switching to reserve. Ran it out once accidentally so I know.
I just picked up an '02 Sabre with 1,500 miles. Kind of the same story, but mine needs a carb rebuild from sitting. Should be out of the shop in a couple more days, but it was running great at anything under 2/3 throttle, and cruised well at 75mph. Bought it to upgrade from my Shadow Spirit 750.
I have a 98 shadow sabre ace 1100 and can't be happier. Also have two VT 750's and the difference is like chalk and cheese. The 750's are good but the sabre is a cut above. Got to love Honda reliability. I ride any any of them and people ask me what sought of Harley is it and I just laugh my head off. Go Honda V Twins. Agro in Australia
Not a new rider had one previous but, got me a honda about 5 years ago or so... 2006 sabre the cool looking grey flame paint lol. love the bike. chromed vance and hines stright pipes double-barreled right to the rear finder.. lools great lol
I've owned my 2005 Sabra for about 5 years after I sold my other Honda and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Let me down one time because of the switch but I fixed it by sanding the sending unit or whatever it's called and off I went..
OH MY GOD. I was looking for videos about the shadow sabre, as that's my father's old bike, that I'm now riding. At 8:12, I notice the Shoppers Drug Mart, and I recognize it. That's my childhood neighbourhood in Barrie, ON!
So I’m in a situation. I have never ridden before. I’ve been looking into it and decided a rebel 500 was where I wanted to start. However. One of my coworkers is giving away an old 1100 Honda Sabre (moving, no longer has space). He knows what’s wrong with bike but doesn’t want to dump money into it because he has a newer nicer bike. It’s nearly double the power I thought I wanted but it seems like a great opportunity to get a great bike at a bargain. Opinions welcome, no clue what I’m doing.
I traded my Chevy C10 for a shadow sabre 07 plus $1800 on top, it had under 7k miles. I came out on top with that deal, it's my first bike ever. Had it for almost a year and I've put 1500 miles on it so far.
Just got my license and bought a 2007 Shadow Saber 1100 (1st bike) with 8k miles for $2700 from a pawn shop. Great bike and I enjoy riding it every day.
@@sam.abadyah I'm 6'2@300lbs and very happy with this bike as my 1st. It's has good power and handles great. I think this was the perfect bike for me to learn how to ride on. I've put over 7k miles on this bike since April if that's any indication of how much I love riding it. Just put new tires on it last week which made to handing just that much better. I just got home from a 120 ride thru to Ozarks and the bike had no problem pulling my heavy butt up the hills. I much as I love this bike I'll look for something with a little more power in the future, just my personal preference.
My neighbor has a 2004 same model 24,000 miles for 2500 was thinking about getting it for my first bike at 40 time for me to live. I’ve rode dirt bikes and every other kind of sport equipment, my whole life???
Would you know where I can find a speedometer for the same yr I think. Mine is a 2005. About all I sorta need for it. I’m constantly impressed with how this bike goes down the road. I live in the southern part of the Rocky Mountains with amazing hair pin turns and everything else that you’d ever want to ride and this bike PERFORMS! I just came off of a 94’ custom Harley Davidson FXR that was raked out pretty well, and to be fully honest, this newer 1100 out performs it on every level minus a bit of torque, which we all know Harleys are always more torqy than most but it’s def not missed. The 1100 is completely underrated lol and that’s fine cause it keeps them cheap😂 I got mine for 1600 bucks with less than 7 thousand miles on it.. it needed new bags, sissy bar, and tires and the speedo I mentioned but I’ve gotten lucky and acquired everything for around 300 bucks. Let me know if you know about a speedometer haha. Great video! Thanks for the content🎉
Meanwhile... my first ever bike IS still my 2005 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc. Knew I didn't want a smaller lil pssy bike that I'd grow out of in months. Love my 1100
@@CruisersCorner picking up both shield and grips this winter, nicer seat and bars too. Soon as spring comes to southern Ontario the GreenWing will be ready to tour
Put full synthetic in my 96 vt1100c and took it out 200 miles later. My clutch did not like it. Went back to honda oil and my clutch loves it. These bikes don't shift smooth no matter what you use but my clutch prefers honda oil.
I know. I noticed after putting synthetic in mine last year when I hit it hard the clutch slipped and took a second to catch up. But only when i punch it. Going back to regular after this winter. Hopefully it'll go back to the way it was.
Just did a lucas partial synthetic oil change on my 03 and noticed a little more clunky shifting. Only got about 20 miles on it cause a week of rain moved in. Thanks for the heads up. I'll post back when I get a few more miles.
Nice review. One thing... why not spell the name of the model correctly on the RU-vid thumbnail? The model is the Sabre, not Saber. Yes....I know that Saber is the proper way to spell it, but Honda calls it a Sabre. I guess I'm being picky, but I almost didn't click because I'm thinking that if the reviewer can't get the name right, how accurate will the rest of the video be. That being said, I have an 04 Sabre that I bought new and it still runs perfectly. I've done nothing but oil changes, tire changes, and I've had to buy two batteries over the years. I now have 44,000 miles on it now. Considering how old it is, that's low mileage. I've always had two bikes on the road at the same time, so mileage has always been split up by 2 bikes. I paid $8500 USD in 2004 for my Sabre and I've never regretted it for a second. I did replace the original seat with a Mustang seat after 2 or 3 seasons. It's MUCH more comfortable for long rides. Anyone considering buying a Sabre is wicked smart! Do it!
Why wouldn’t you recommend it for a new rider? I was looking for one for my first bike. Heavily considering one of these since they’re basically the same size as the 750 with only about 50lbs more weight.
I got one as my first bike, honestly, the weight was scary but after riding for about a month(carefully) I mustered up the courage to practice more low-speed maneuvers and that helped me a ton with getting used to the weight. Now I think of it as a pretty good handling bike
All new riders are different some could get away with the 1100, but some riders would appreciate the control of a 750 or even smaller bike. Depending on the person.
It’s was a great 1st bike for me… it stop felling heavy after 20-30 miles of riding … 3 months of riding and I actually want more a more powerful bike, but If I am honest with myself, The bike is still fast enough, with my added skill experience it still excites me
I’m thinking of trading my beat up 08 ranger that hit a deer and has 216k miles on it I looked up the HP and torque of this and it’s not much for a 1100 67 for both. The bike is mint with 30 k miles I looked at it close to see if I could find anything wrong with it but couldn’t find a single thing
The aero is a hot bike for-sure! What do you like better about the Honda? I know that Honda has unbeatable reliability. I wish they made a fuel injected model…
Are these bikes good for high miles? I just got an 04 with 28,000 for a really good deal. I hear that they'll last 100,000 easy with basic maintenance. Just curious
@@CruisersCorner I'm about to change the oil, filter, shaft oil and spark plugs (cause it's just so simple on this bike) but I was hearing they are dead reliable! I'm hoping to get a lot of good miles on with my wife cruising around Michigan 💯💯
@@CruisersCorner Thanks. I know who you're talking about when I was searching for one. If I remember right he retired. He's the only one I found that made them.
this was my first bike years ago. I liked it around town but it was geared too low for highway/freeway use. The fuel economy was horrible! not to mention your distance between fill ups was very short.
Really? I am able to pull 45MPG out of mine at 70MPH and make it 120-140 miles before I hit the reserve tank. Costs me like $15 to make a trip that would cost me $40 in my diesel pickup. If I take it easy down back roads at 50MPH and refrain from winding it out I can easily grab 52MPG out of it which is pretty good for an 1100cc bike.
and you have the sabre edition shadow?@@Ciulster I for one know that it was geared too low for long highway use. You can hear it. The RPM at 70 to 75 are just too high.
@@poorasslawstudentYes my bike is the Sabre edition, and while it is definitely geared lower than the Aero or Spirit bikes and you can hear it working at that speed I still find it takes it like a champ. Without baffles in the pipes it's definitely too loud since it's not just chugging along like a higher geared cruiser would, baffle-less straight pipes on highway are a no for me. I also run the colder heat range spark plugs as per Honda's recommendation for high speed riding as most of my riding is 40+minutes of 50+ MPH riding. Admittedly I sometimes ride at 90MPH for good chunks and the bike loves it. My only constraint for long distance riding is comfort, as I am tall and find the bike a bit cramped to ride for longer than an hour or so. For a big V twin it certainly likes to rev out and go through corners a little too much. 😅 If you are worried about the bike working too hard you must be coming from a different brand mindset. I've owned over 5 Honda motorcycles and they are the hardest working motorcycles out there, and some of them should not be alive anymore... But they crank over and run like new still. Guys who actually worry about working the bike too hard will probably have the bike outlive them lol.
@@CruisersCorner I wish it had 6th for the highway. I like to do 90. Seems a 6 would be good for that. Ive had her up to 110 with more throttle left. Awesome machines
VERY CAREFUL heat gun removal of the product liability BS stickers on the fuel tank. I suggest removal of those for a MUCH better aesthetic. I doubt it will damage the classic value of the bike as long as kept maintained, clean, running, and safe. My 2004 1100 Spirit was also kept inside a conditioned space. I purchased it in 2011 for 3500 bucks (US) with 5,600 miles on the odo. Now, in 2024, it needs fork seals and that is all. On my 3rd front and 2nd rear tire since purchase. Now with 18,000 miles. We did a refresh on the carbs a year ago too. It still looks and runs perfectly. I know some folks with Harleys who keep a Shadow around for local riding.
