Has this tip helped you? Here is a free way to help me. Here is my Amazon influencer page that has many of the parts I've used in videos and some parts that friends have used. www.amazon.com/shop/poweraddicts-fixjeepscom-jeepcarandmotorcycletips?ref=ac_inf_hm_vp . By purchasing through this Amazon page you help me get a small commission of the sale and you do not get charged a cent more. Keep checking back because I update the Amazon page often. Hi, my cycle is an 02 Shadow Spirit VT1100C and has a mag type wheel but things on it are similar to this. In particular I noticed when replacing the axle and preparing to install axle bolt that the end of the axle was recessed approximately 1/4" from being flush with the outside of the right side of the front fork. Do you know if this is normal? I'm pretty confident my speedometer gear housing is installed correctly wheel turns ok and the two "tabs" mentioned are against one another per this and other videos. If this is normal do you know if the axle ends up flush with outside of the right side of fork after being tightened? What torque did you use for axle bolt. I believe its 43 ft. lbs..

Great explanation, but I would personally clean all those parts before putting it back together. Get the rust off, ect. while it's easily accessible. Just a thought.

You have to take off the caliper? Like HAVE to? You can just undo the bolt in the bearing and pull the wheel forward?

Great video. Quick question. The stock tire is 110 80 19. Would a 110 90 19 fit? It looks like a kenda you have on there. Couldn't find kenda in the stock size.

Great video, very well presented! As a newbe at 65, I feel no problem stripping down the front to check or replace pads, etc, by the way, It took me a month to track down the 1998 Service Manual for my Honda Shadow VT750 C3 W and I love it. Will be putting to bed for the winter shortly, but come spring next year, will go thru the bike top to bottom for a cross Canada Trip ...Thanks again sir.

if you didnt move the front brake handle after you took off the front caliper, you dont need to touch the piston on the caliper. It will go back on. Great time to also inspect your pads for abnormal wear, wear in general and especially for oil from the caliper piston. clean the inside of the wheel, alot of rust indicates water. always clean the rust out. Great time to also go over torque specss

@normbastien3050
@normbastien3050 4 года назад
You said to use a bit of lube on the axle so as to prevent it from seizing when needed to remove the axle. Can I use Never-Seez sparingly or should I use Lithium? Great instructional video. Looking forward to more from you. I am overhauling our son's VT750 which has not turned a wheel since 2008, 12 years ago, so lots to do. Will be changing and flushing all fluids, replacing front & rear tires, stripping bike and cleaning EVERYTHING I can. I am very learned in mechanics but your videos make everything so much easier and I have 99.9% of all the required tools and supplies, so it should be done in a couple weeks. Next on the list is the fuel system. The tank has about 2 gallons of very stinky varnished fuel and lots of sediment/rust inside. It sat for 12 years with the same fuel. UUUgggghhhh. Hope you are still doing your videos. Take care and Keep On Keepin' On.
@OlderShadowRider

You are welcome! I've also got a 1980 Yamaha XS650 Special. It hasn't made it on RU-vid as of yet. I've heavily modded the XS. Took an inch out of the back bone to give it a few degrees of rake. Brat bobber kit welded in along with a single shock swing arm mod using a Yamaha R1 coil-over. The engine is out of it right now to finish welding the frame. I really need to get that thing back on the road so I can see how it rides. I love old school bikes. But the 750 Shadow is so reliable and fairly straight forward on mechanicals. This black one in the video is my sons. I have one same year and model except mine is red with flames on the tank. Here is the motorcycle play list that features a few more bikes: ru-vid.com/group/PL8Fz_3RM9QXYJ0ZLDOwTX93mDeXFvKfbd . You are correct, most don't watch for us on the motorcycles! Thanks for checking out my video and taking the time to leave a great comment! Stay safe out there brother!!

Thanks so much for the detail and step by step you gave in this video. I'm 20 and have been riding for 2 years but hadn't had to deal with a flat til just 2 days ago. No mechanical experience whatsoever but was able to get my tire off (used another video to figure out how to change the tube myself too lol) and get it back on with no issues. I even learned my break pads are worn to hell and plan on replacing those tomorrow. I was in a real tough spot without my vehicle and you helped immensely. Thanks again.

Do you really need to compress the brakes if you don't touch the front brake while the wheel is off? Shouldn't it just slide right back in?
@Poweraddicts
@Poweraddicts 8 лет назад
Technically it can. Just may not be as cooperative. It compresses back so easily, its less trouble to compress the caliper than it can be to wrestle it going back over the disk. You can try it, if it slides right back on .. great. If it doesn't just pry it back a little and your good to go.
