I asked about this on a forum, my bike is leaking too. They told me it was the easiest repair to do. I was really debating to take my bike to the shop, and finally found this video today!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH sir, this video helped me a lot, looks really simple. Doing it this weekend if the parts get here by that time, and hopefully everything goes okay.

Thanks for watching, Mateo! The hardest part is first getting the crossover tube to slide. Once you get that, the rest is pretty easy. I'm sure you will do a great job and be back on the road in no time!

Thank you, Dennis for posting this video! I bought an 01 Honda A.C.E deluxe about a year ago and noticed the crossover leaking. Turns out someone in the past had put some kind of a hard crusty yellowish sealer around both ends. That was a bear to break loose and clean up without a teardown! After cleanup, the install went extremely smooth! Dental floss workes like a charm! Much gratitude from south central illinois!

My shadow ace was leaking and I kinda had the idea that it might be o-rings and be able to slide it like that so I ran a search and your video poped up on Google. To my surprise your video was exactly what I needed to do. Great video!! Made what I thought to be a headache, a 20 minute job. One thing I couldnt hook old o-rings cause the were like rocks, not pliable. I ended up using an exact knife to cut them in half then I was able to get them off. Thanks for the video, made the headache go away :-)
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 10 лет назад
Awesome! Thanks for the comments. I think mine were still pliable only because my leak started earlier than most....20,000 miles. Cutting the o-rings off works just as well. Glad to know you're back on the road!

Nice job. I wrote something up on this years ago. I used a telephone cord. I only got the replacement o ring. I have done this to 3 bikes. The stealership wanted $600 for this job. Screw them. It took about 20 minutes and about $15. Nice job on the video. I drained my coolant by the way so you didnt have all the leaks. Take care and thanks. BTW I lubed my o ring so the cord or floss slides out easily.

Thanks man! I originally thought the same thing when mine leaked...I'm thinking I've got to pull the engine apart. I was glad it turned out to be easier than I thought....only had the bike down for a couple hours and back on the road!! ride safe!

Saw this repair done with the 90 degree pick and needlenose pliers but the dental floss seems to be a better idea getting those 0 rings back on. Great vid! Thanks..
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 7 лет назад
Thanks Don....I like the floss better than a pick because I don't have a chance of nicking the o-ring. Thank you very much for watching and for leaving a comment. I appreciate it!

It was a pain but it worked! Great video, thanks! Dental floss was key. FYI my dealership said it wasn't worth it to take the engine apart to fix this. Go figure.

Thanks Dennis your post help me a lot. I fixed it already no need long nose pliers. For SHADOW Spirit 1100 You need to remove top chamber heat fin there are very easy to remove just 4 set of 5 mm. allen key to be removed when the heat fin was removed there are a big room for you to work with it. After that I am follow your step one by one. Now it is back to normal and ready to hit the road again. Big thanks to you.

Great video.thank you gonna do this weekend. However there is a coolant fill cap under the gas tank.
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 6 лет назад
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Yes, fortunately for me, I didn't lose enough coolant to require filling the radiator using the fill cap. You have to loosen the gas cap to get to the radiator fill cap. I was glad I didn't have to do that on mine. It's not a bad job, I just didn't want to do it.
