Would you chance running with the damage I've found or would you just buy 2 new ones up front? Also for anyone who wants to message me about terminology, I've maintained for over 5 years now I'm bad at words and English isn't my first language, if it upsets you have a good cry, write a letter and send it to a misspelt address with no return. You'll feel better :)

Very interesting vid! I think I'd go for new diaphragms though availability might dictate, depending on urgency of wanting to test ride. New fuel lines the same. I like carbs for throttle response, especially at low revs (heard a lot of complaints re "snatchy" response with injection requiring remap or piggyback ECU etc). Do I like working on carbs? Will let you know, haha. Wording is wonderful, languages, dialects, accents, terminologies all adding to the mix. Correct terminology is of lesser importance when presented with visual information (if in doubt or confused, go read up on it!!!) so yah boo sucks to the complainers!!!!! (In my ultra mature opinion 😂). Cheers, Andy.

Glad you enjoyed it amigo :) I think I will tbh, I tested them and that bad bad one seems to not be working. They're available but expensive, worth it while they are available I think :) Already ordered fuel line :) That's true of most EFI bikes as they do a fuel shutoff off throttle which means you then gets a kick when you get back on throttle. Hahaha I think you'll love it :) I agree completely :P And you're very mature imo :P As a mature person I can judge :)

I like some bikes that have carbs, lol. I don't think I'd like to work on them but I'm a spanner newb. Minor jobs I'll tackle but carb witchcraft isn't one of them.

"Rebuild this and hope for the best"... Famous last words! xD The dents are more cosmetic than everything from what I see, now the fuel lines... Next time? xD
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 6 месяцев назад
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it leaked, I honestly expected it to but wanted to chance it anyway :P They are cosmetic, but if those metal covers hadn't been there they would have been destructive.

Wow you actually showed up in my notification feed for a change. YT must have sobered up for a second. I've never rebuilt a carb but the carb on the KLR is easily accesible and shouldn't be too tough to work on when I do the carb mod to give it the small. little boost. Now if you will indulge me for a second and let my inner childish nature come out and say your mic's shadow looked like a "johnson" when you turned your head just right. Couldn't help but chuckle a few times thinking wow he really is a D******* even though you're not. Cheers and this video was very informative.

Nice, maybe youtube has decided it doesn't hate m anymore. I won't hold my breath :D The KLR carbs from what I've seen are lovely to work on and remove so hopefully it'll be grand to do when you get to it :) Hahahahahahahahahaha I am most certainly a d******* :D Thanks amigo

I had carbs on a Yamaha 650 cruiser, and never had any issue with them, or had to touch them in the two or three years I owned the bike. In a way, I actually enjoyed the little rituals that having carburetors brings. I’m looking forward to my next bike with carbs, so I can get more hands on experience servicing them.

Honestly once you use carbs, even every now and again, they, in my experience, hold balance and function just fine. So long may that continue for you :) I do most of the time, until I'm late for work and only have carbs and don't have the 5 mins to let it heat up :D If you can, find a spare set for your bike that's cheaper and needs rebuilt and buy them. Rebuild them and then you've a spare set and the knowledge :)

So far I have avoided owning any bikes that have fuel injection. The multi cylinder engined bikes I had for years never gave me any carburettor problems. Perhaps the petrol was better then. One of my great joys was balancing the carbs and seeing, hearing, and feeling the difference that made. It is only in recent years with single cylinder machines that carbs have given me trouble. Is this connected with poor quality fuel? People rave about the wonders of electronic fuel injection but while we may not have to strip and clean and fiddle with carburettors we do now have to diagnose and resolve problems with the related electronics like sensors instead. Swings & Roundabouts. Another good video. We await the test of the serviced carbs with interest. 👍

You have to sync. throttle bodies the same way. Still get that same great feeling.

I love FI :D Petrol was most likely better then, the GSXR carbs were great tbh. But they are in general slightly more of a pain imo, but I have literally never had an FI issue so that might be part of it. That said I've never owned a NEW new bike until the Vstrom and Z900rs so time will tell eh, and yes, nicely balanced carbs make such a huge difference. Failed miserably btw :P Carbs seem fine but the bike has zero spark, probably pulse generators. And yes, as Pete said, throttle bodies still need syncing :)

You're going to want to split the carbs and change those O-rings. DAMHIK. Don't install them before doing a bench test to check for leaks. You can possibly use those diaphragms if you RTV the bad edge. You can test them once installed by lifting and letting them fall, comparing to the others. They're $$$ from Honda if still available. China makes them but I've never used them. Polish the needle seats With a Q-tip and metal polish so the float doesn't stick and seals well. I'd go up 1 size on the main and small washer under the needle due to EPA running lean. Do I like carbs? I don't not like them...Had FI bikes in the past. IF something goes bad with FI, you probably can't fix it yourself.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I found that out as soon as I popped them in and ran some fuel to them :D The videos are usually at least a fee days old sadly it would have been great info :P I think I'll just swallow it and order new ones, revzilla have them OEM, pricey but the camera didn't even show how bad that one was. Already did, just didn't show it so the video wasn't too long :) Thank you tho! I was looking at the stage 1 kit, I might do that in future, right now I'm just trying to get the bike to a running condition to find all the major problems since it's history is very spotty. Looks like I have a bad pulse generator next. I don't not like them is a very good way to put it, I'm in the same boat. FI has never given me a single issue to date tho so right now I do like it :D

@@petev.9357 Ah it'd be down the road anyway, first things first get it running and registered and then I have forever to modify it :) Interesting.
