Great review of the old Vision. When I was first looking as someone who has a 125 licence so has limited choice to pick from, I wanted a nimble city scooter whilst in town for filtering but one that will sit at 50mph A road speeds when needed and found the vision is perfect. I have had mine from new and used for five years now for a daily commute into central London. The route encompasses a 50mph A road which is mostly 20 miles of standstill traffic in the morning so perfect for filtering but empty at night when I return so able to get up to and sit at the 50mph speed limit. I’ve covered over 20000 miles with nothing failing and the engine is still quiet and smooth which I am impressed with as 80% of this mileage has been at the bikes almost top speed. Only costs over the years have been service parts and the modification i done, Ive made sure to follow the service squedule and keep the rockers adjusted etc. I also changed for Pilot Street tyres when the originals wore though which only took 8000 miles and original tyres were a bit slippy in the wet. I also use leg and hand covers in winter from thermoscud these are pricey but worth it! Only modifications I have made were the mallosi variator kit. My daily route changes from 50mph to 60mph for the final two junctions ( roughly 2miles ) of the A road I travel on and the variator kit gearing/design allows the scooter to reach and sit at 60mph easier so safer for me as well as ensuring I can pull away quicker than most scooters I’ve encountered in the city mostly due to the variator/roller weights and lighter weight of this scooter compared to most others rather than power the vision has. If anyone is interested in top speed with the kit I have reached 70mph on a down hill section but the bike seems to have a rev limiter in the ecu it hits at this speed. The bike sits at 60/65 on the flat. I found fitting a large back box and not having L plates seems to give the bike a little more presence and keep drivers from not wanting to overtake and looks larger from the back but scooters always have a stigma as being slow and some people just want to get past. For anyone commuting in all weather for the first time, I have had geared bikes in the past like a Varadero for commuting and have a Cagiva Mito I use on sunny days. These are more comfortable at higher speeds and have a bigger presence but I found when commuting scooters are much easier to keep clean and maintain when you commute through the rain, winter and salt especially the vision with everything encased in plastic and rubber flaps covering the engine from the back wheel and belt instead of chain etc only thing that has begun to bubble this year is the paint on the front forks. My geared bikes have tended to fair worse commuting in the salt with a more exposed engine and frames you can never get them clean or rust and flake free again even if you clean weekly. Also, you can get leg covers on a scooter and keep out the sub zero winds out a little better 😂 Happy scootering and biking chaps !

Hi, have your gasoline consumption changed after the variator modification? My Vision 2018 is taking about 2l/100km (while driving all day full gas it is about 2.8 litres). I like my scooter but wouldn't mind have it a little bit more agile but I also don't want to have higher consumption. Thanks

This video just answered allot of questions for me! I just reached the conclusion that, if you work in the city, you should own one as a means of transportation, as it's absurdly cheap to own and maintain, and just have an awesome big bike to enjoy your weekends and vacations. Having this scooter for daily transportation basically "pays" for your big bike! 😁👌 Thanks for another excellent review!
@RocketMan_Moto

Thanks for your comment - yes, the Vision is brilliant and I will be selling my Honda CB500X to make way for the Triumph Rocket, and hanging on to the Vision. OK, you don't exactly look like the Terminator on a scooter, but who cares? It's been a revelation to me for urban transport. Ride safe :)

Your calm, dulcet tones make this review so much better! I had a PCX125 as my first foray into motorcycles back in 2013, and absolutely loved it. The under seat storage taking a full face helmet and the 65mph top speed keeps you at least out of too much trouble on faster roads. I sold it when I bought my first 'big bike', a Honda CBF 600, but whilst that satisfied my craving for more power, it was at the expense of manoeuvrability and was more compromised as a city commuter. I regretted selling the PCX and always thought about owning another scooter one day, alongside a bigger bike. I now have the Honda NC700X DCT (Auto), which I thought would make commuting easier whilst still having the power to entertain at weekends, or on longer journeys, but it's the lightness and nippy nature of twist and go scooters like the PCX and Vision that really can't be beaten. I suppose one question I have is whether I'd feel short changed buying the Vision 110 Vs another PCX, for the difference in power? Do you have any experience of the PCX 125 by means of comparison? Thanks, Rod
@RocketMan_Moto
@RocketMan_Moto 4 года назад
I'm lucky to be able to have the scooter and a couple of 'big bikes' and I totally understand what you mean: although they've all got 2 wheels, scooters and bikes are as different as bikes and cars. I am tempted to swap the Vision for something 'better' like the PCX or the SH300i, but I'm worried that I'd lose the simplicity that makes scooters so endearing. The Vision is fabulous, precisely because it's cheap and cheerful :)

Agree very much with all you have said. Certainly an unpretentious little scooter but very endearing. Like you I have (and have had) bigger capacity bikes - I currently own a BMW 650GS twin. I also have a BMW C1 (125) and a Yamaha Townmate. The Vision is by far the least demanding to ride and outperforms the BMW C1 - even though the C1 has a twin cam engine and knocks out more BHP. It wouldn't be fair to compare the Vision with larger capacity bikes in terms of performance but when it comes to ease of maintenance and general build quality, the Vision is streets ahead. The 650 GS is a real pain to keep clean and to work on. The Vision is just brilliant in this respect. The only downside is what you mentioned about road presence. Perhaps it is not presence but other road user's attitudes to scooters. In a 30 mph zone and doing a perfectly legal 30 mph (OK, indicated 33 mph on the speedo) I still find myself being overtaken by motorists. They do not do that when I am on the C1 or the GS. I have no worries about taking the Vision on dual carriageways or even motorways. I have ridden my Townmate (80ccs) up to the Lake District on the M6 on two occasions. It just requires near constant rear observation but I have had no aggression or signs of frustration from other road users. The thing is, you can have just as much fun and adventure on a small capacity bike as you can a big bike. Perhaps more.

Great review! I've owned several motorcycles throughout my life but never a scooter. Now that I am a bit older and retired in the Azores I just ordered a 2021 Honda Vision 110 for short trips and island exploration. A 50cc scooter would be too small but the light Vision 110 along with my 63kg and max speed of 70kph here on the island it will be great. Your video helped me with my decision to go with a scooter. Thank you!

You're welcome. It really is a great little scooter. Three years on and I continue to use it every day for short local trips (supermarket, post office, nipping down to the beach, etc). We're in the Algarve now, but it's just as useful as it was to us in Cascais. Enjoy :)

Great review. Ive owned a 2012 vision 110 from new , I bought it to go on the back of my motorhome as I'm limited by the axel and rack weight wise. It's been a great little scooter that I have now done 9000 miles's on without any major issue . I keep thinking about changing it but I'm probably going to keep it till it or me dies . One point is how easy it is to service and work on yourself , I have limited mechanical knowledge but changing oil , brake pads and drive belts are pretty easy without any specialist tools , I changed a fork seal the other day and it was again pretty straightforward. It sits outside all year with a cover over it , gets used and abused when I take it with me in my motorhome and left neglected when im at home but starts first time.
@RocketMan_Moto
@RocketMan_Moto 3 года назад
Sounds pretty much like ours - not abused exactly, but outside in all weathers and used on very short journeys only, 2 or 3 times a day. Starts on the button, though, and never given us any problems :)

@@RocketMan_Moto Hi again , I forgot to mention that I fitted a genuine Honda screen which does spoil the look of the scooter but it does make riding in bad weather more bearable. I also recently replaced the drive belt more due to its age than the mileage , it was starting to show cracks inbetween the teeth if that makes sense , while I had the belt off I swapped out the variator for a Polini speed one which was specifically matched to the scooter , it seems to have improved my up hill speeds and it doesn't seem to bogdown but keep on pulling , the Polini roller ramps are different and the rollers at 8.1g a lot lighter this means that the scooter revs higher before moving up the gears it has given me a few mph extra top speed but it is the acceleration and it up hill speed improvement that I'm happier about as I live in a hilly area. The only down side is that it now revs higher which might effect my mpg and it sounds a bit more like a leaf blower 🤣 at 57 years old I feel like a born again teenager as I wizz about, ive rode big bikes all my life but now only have my little Honda vision but it's fun.

RocketMan, I can't deny that your review of the Honda Vision 110 was so fabulous that it helped me making my decision. After test-riding a few Honda SH125s, a Honda Wave and a Vision 110, the decision was made after I've seen your brilliant review. So now that I got my own Honda Vision 110 I was wondering where did you get that small windscreen? I only get acces to the original Honda Windscreen and one from Givi, but they are both 40 cm/15 inch high and that's just not my cup of tea. A smaller like yours would be perfect. Ride safe and thanks for the review, I couldn't be happier with my Honda Vision :)

I had to decide between Honda SH 125 and the Vision. I so much more enjoyed the Vision, because of its maneuverability and lightness. Much smoother to handle. The rather flat seat of the Vision allows you to slide further back, where the SH 125 I has a bump, that keeps you fixed in one seating position and you have less space for your feet. Very good review, thank you 😊.

Yeah, those "bumps" on seats are problem of all manufacturers. That is why Vespa is the best for tall people. It's unbelievable how much space is there even on smaller Primavera/Sprint. It puts even Sh350i to the shame, Forza 350 too small and so on. Beverly 400 was horrible which I tested 2 weeks ago. Plus those maxi scooters are missing the main point and benefit to have a scooter and so next spring Vespa it will be (good company for my Honda Monkey I am sure :-D). BTW the sweet spot is either Honda SH150i or Vespa Primavera 150 (in some countries Vespa Sprint 150 as well), Especially that Vespa with its air cooled engine, drum brake on back without ABS (so no complicated pumps and hoses or ASR cables for back) and it has 9,2kW (with multivar about 10,2kW) and even stock can do 70mph.

I too am a rider who usually rides much bigger bikes who appreciates the value of the my Honda Vision. I don't quite get the MPG that you get, mine is more circa 100mpg. I also am a bit confused by the comments about the under seat storage, I have heard this criticism before, however my Arai Corsair X Size large (Full face) does fit under the seat without fuss. I have to place it in with the visor pointing to the front of the bike, but as long as I do this it fits a treat. I was surprised how much I actually use the Vision, thinking I would only use it for collecting the odd take away in summer, but it is so much fun and so convenient I use it all the time for journeys less than 20 miles.

Absolutely. As I mention in the video, the Vision was originally intended for my wife, but it's I who use it, usually several times a day for errands around town. Interesting you can fit your full face under the seat. I have a Shoei open face and a Shoei full face, and both are way too big. Only our tiny Airoh City helmets fit. Ride safe :)

Hi ,great review .I was looking at the lates model and they cost around €2700 here in Malta .The only thing that bothered me is that they only have one shock /spring for back suspention and fear that by time it will not perform as well as i had Piaggio scooters with this set up and they seemed to wear the suspension bushes quite often due to the weight all held on one side.
@RocketMan_Moto
@RocketMan_Moto 5 лет назад
I haven't noticed any premature wear to the bushes after 2000km, but you're right that the rear suspension is a weak point on the Vision. It does bottom out sometimes when my wife & I are on it. I have asked my Honda dealer about upgrading the shock to something stronger, but they were of little help. I'm sure there are products out there, but it's not enough of an issue for me to bother. Most of the time, I ride alone and as my weight is more towards the centre of the bike, the rear suspension copes fine with my 85kg :)

Got bored & sold it after 4 months 😞 & have regretted it ever since! 120-130mpg(uk), £22 at the time for road-tax (£24 now I think) & a litre of oil required for a basic service. WHYYYYY did I sell it? 😭😭😭 Bought a new car 5 months ago (base spec Picanto) & not enjoying driving & being stuck in traffic all the time these days, so thinking of either buying a PCX again to sit alongside the car or quite possibly ditching the car & buying a Forza or ADV 350 as my sole vehicle. The most versatile scooter I 've used in Phuket is the Honda Click. The 125 cc engine is powerful and unless you are not taller than 1,80 m this scooter is the best to slalom in the daily traffic jams. In Thailand the price, when I was supposed to buy one, in july 2017 was only 1400 euros. I finally bought a CB 500X but in the city traffic I miss the confort of the automatic gearbox. Many bikers have sold their big bikes there and found a compromise in the 300 cc scooters. Now if I had to buy a scooter in Thailand it would be the brand new Honda ADV 150. Honda's are reliable and have an extremely low consumption and ridiculous costs of maintenance.

We don't get the Click in Europe, but I know what you mean: 125-300cc bikes are great around town. I have a CB500X, too, but definitely prefer the Vision in heavy traffic. It's incredibly easy to ride and, as I said in the video, ridiculously cheap to run. Ride safe :)

@@addeade231 hi mate, Great little bike and I wouldn't be without it. Really easy to service - I change the oil every 1,000 miles and just check things over in general. Just had a new battery @ 32,000 miles, (7 1/2 years from new). Depending on where you live - make sure you lubricate the mainstand shaft well. Not sure of fuel consumption but it's very good. Will get to 60 mph on a good day with the wind behind you but generally gets to 40 - 50 easily, (and I'm nearly 15 stone). I have a fireblade in the garage that I have now had for 23 years from new and I am just as happy riding the vision as I am the fireblade. Some people won't be able to get their heads around that !!!!!! My opinion is that Honda's are superior to other manufacturers.

Interesting real world stuff. We all have to consider our needs, which can take along time to know, and buy bikes accordingly. My #1 bike is a T120. I wanted a #2 bike for hopping along my local area. I bought one of the new Vespa 300s, which I didn’t getting on with. I was surprised at the lack of protection I got from the Vespa design, which was draughty around my legs. That when I traded the Vespa for a Honda CB500X (2019) as my #2 bike. I can see the CBX meeting most of my needs these days. I’m in my late 60s and had a number of large 1200 cc bikes over the years, but no longer feel the need for that power. However the T120 Bonneville is great for taking my partner as pillion. By the way that part of the coast looks good. Do you mind saying where is Portugal it is? Cheers, Pete

I would like it to have 10% more power, to always get to 100. its so small, with traffic it's a blast. in the city it's incredible good also. highway, I only do max a couple of kilometers... trucks are your best friend and I do not feel safe there.. I prefer scooters with flat footboard because it's easy to pack. I only changed it because the 113cc Address is (so as the Vision would be) more than enough in the city and it has better fuel consumption and cheaper to insure.. Both are awesome, if you need the extra power, the SH300 is the go to.. but if your wife is shorter, keep that in mind that the 300 is quite a tall bike.

I have her (slightly) bigger sister, the Innova 125, with an engine very similar to the Monkey's, with the semi-automatic 4 speed gearbox. Yes, these are very good in town (probably the best of all 2-wheelers between traffic lights) but dangerous on regular roads where the frail silhouette combined with the inadequate top speed means that cars and trucks will gladly push you out of their way. They litteraly overtake without changing lane. The front light bulb can be changed for a little better one from Philips (City Vision Gold or something), or a fairly better one usine LEDs. The first one is a marginal improvement, the second one a real must have if you travel often by night (like going to work early in the morning) ; alas, the price of the LED bulb is a bit steep (65ish euros as far as I remember, compared to the 18 euros of the regular bulb).

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that these scooters are really for city use only (and they're excellent at that). I occasionally take the Vision on the 4-lane coast road here in Lisbon and it is a pretty scary experience. As you say, there is no power reserve and the brakes feel as if they're made of cardboard compared to big bikes. I still love my Vision, though. Ride safe :)

RocketMan would you say that the power of the Honda vision is much less than a standard 125cc motorcycle such as a Honda cb125f or a Yamaha ybr 125cc, I don’t know if you have ridden near any of these bikes to be able to do a comparison,I really like the idea of getting a vision 110 as I’m fed up with having to oil and adjust motorcycle chains.
@totoabicyclette7100
@totoabicyclette7100 4 года назад
To put it simply, Vision 110 < PCX 125 < Forza 125 in terms of max speed in normal conditions. A Forza 125 will gladly do 120 kph on a flat road, whereas a Vision will struggle after 90 kph. And those 30 kph are very important the moment you leave a city and start to use B roads with a 90 kph speed limit for example. But if I have to stay in town, a Vision will be far more zippy than a Forza if you ride it alone.

Enjoyed the review and a new subscriber. I was wondering if you've tried any of the 400cc+ scooters like the Suzuki Burgman. The wife and I completed the MSF course and looking for our first motorcycle we can both ride to continue working on riding skills before jumping in and buying a second. However, the more I look at the congested stop and go traffic here in Honolulu, the more an automatic scooter seems like a better option. The road to our house has an average grade of 5% and peaks at 9% so I'm concerned that anything less than 400cc would be a disappointment. Occasionally a few used scooters pop up but they're usually already at 20k+ miles on the odometer and I'm not sure at what point those CVT transmissions begin to fail. Thoughts?
