I can totally relate ❤ For me, it’s been unpacking the ways I show up that have been hurtful or I’ve seen my parents do. My hubs is so compassionate and slow to anger. He’s been changing me for the better. I’m so grateful I have man like that and I want to rise to meet him there at that level of love as his wife. Definitely not perfect at it yet, but turning to Jesus more helps.

God leads me to your content at just the right time and I swear you are speaking right to me. This resonates so much with me and my journey as a mother and a wife. I am in the process of discernment for taking a huge leap of faith to pursue my role of mother and wife more deeply and purposefully. Thank you for the authentic vulnerability.

Wow! So good! 100 % right Jenna! The relationship of my parents is "burned into my memory for the rest of my life"... and I have spent a life time trying to do the opposite and not got anything. Their marital relationship was and is in my opinion a toxic one. I have been committed to healing wounds and changing things but its hard.

Wow! This was so powerful. I shared it with a few people in my life. It’s so important to be that person for our kids, at the table in the past I would just let them watch iPad, now we read books and the bible together. I can’t tell you the overall shift in our family. It’s so common today to feel our children and marriage is a burden and how sad is that. I have so many people thinking we are “strange” for wanting to homeschool, live frugal and within our means. But I know it’s God calling this life for us and our family.

yessss!!! It was so dangerous for me to look elsewhere, and I didn't even recognize it. It's so important to find friends who will strive for virtue alongside you. Have you experienced this, positively or negatively?

@@BlessedisShe I’m not married yet but I have seen situations where women listen to other women who don’t have their best interests at heart. But yes even in my relationships I have had to stop looking for people to validate my bad behavior!

Thank you for this reflection! It is so deeply important… thank you for your vulnerability because it disarms the shame and pride of others (me!) who are struggling with the same things… In the last few months I’ve been called to a radical change in my marriage and to uncover and heal deep wounds that were destroying our relationship. The scary thing is that our marriage seemed just fine for the standards of the world, and the ways that society would recommend for managing the conflict are exactly the opposite of what the Lord would want for us (living parallel lives where each of us has “our own space”, transferring emotional and spiritual intimacy to friends or others instead of my spouse, creating walls and distance to protect myself, using deprecating humor to mask wounds and unmet needs…) I could go on and on. Thank you for your honesty and your encouraging words. As always, I can hear God’s voice speaking to me through your work at BIS ❤️

My break from Instagram transformed my family life because I didn’t see what my unbelieving friends were saying about their children and husbands (those “funny” jabs that have the appearance of relatability). I don’t want to lose that attentiveness I had during that time with my husband and our growing son. My husband and I have also gotten really good at fighting and then making up because we remember that we were each arguing from a place of pride
