Very honest interview. He’s right. This is a job. Who loves getting punched in the face??? I also appreciate his perspective on friends. As you get older you realize you really don’t have many friends. If you have trouble financially, how many people can you call and ask for a few thousand dollars? No many. Those people are your friends. Those are the only folks who should ask for tickets and in most cases those folks will buy tickets to really support you. It’s the folks you can’t call when you’re in need, who will call you asking for free tickets.

This is actually much more common than people realize. Ray Robinson felt the same way. I think Leonard said something similar but he said he did love it until his hands made it difficult to train.

This dude younger than me, there is a chance that he gets close to it and realizes he wants it. Right now he’s not hungry for a World Title but maybe when he gets closer to it he will see how much of a once in a lifetime opportunity being a world champion is.
