i have a bad experience with jbraid x8, after 2 months of fishing in salt, it snaps so easily even in casting and setting the hook, also the waxy coating that makes the line stiff - not a really big fan of it. but kastking super power braid on the other hand, i must say hands down for the quality you get from the price you pay, have a white 6lbs spooled in my ultralight setup for rock fishing targeting small to medium sized snappers and groupers yanking them out of the rocks for about almost 3 years now, haven't respooled even once, how 'bout that! though i agree with you about those wind knots and i think thats the only downside i get so far, cheers ish! nice review and please do a fishing video already using your fuego lt! ive been waiting for your experience about it! peace!
Ish With Fish I have always use fireline , although their nano fil version had let me down a few times , it can cast farther and smoother , but let a pike or toothy fish and bam there goes your lure
This folds up relatively small and extends out to a good length. ru-vid.comUgkxphFK7ETiDP5G4IGsNcg7vbASDp_YfDpI I would warn that while it folds down to a convenient size, it's still a bit too large to fit into my tacklebox, which I think is a pretty "normal" size. I guess a hardcore fisherman might have a hardcore box that's larger than mine, but for the typical once-a-year fisherman like me, it will have to be carried outside the box.
*This fishing line is very smooth and strong it casts very smooth and it is very sensitive due to very little stretch. It is as good or better that higher priced brands, i definitely reccomend all fishermen/woman to try it.*
kastking braid is my favorite braid to use ive caught stripers, salmon, leopard sharks and my personal best batray is 100+ lbs with 40lb kastking superpower and plus its cheap
I haven't used the 4 strand Godline so I wouldn't know if your assessment is accurate! But you need to try their 8 strand braided line and come back with another review! An honest review and tell us what you think!
Good afternoon, small question... Have you check the diameter of the braid with what the manufacturer is writing on the package? You can have big surprises.. Like 0.22mm declared and the true diameter. 0.3mmm
I see you have mostly smaller sized spools. I tend to get the 300m or larger. Get the monster spools as after all not like you are only going to use it just once. Also if a Huge spool can still get use out of remaining line on spool, same goes for mono as well. Nice video BTW- once again.
I got a good deal on KastKing SuperPower 30lb and it's decent. What I don't care for is the resistance and noise when reeling it in.The only other braid I can compare it to is some Mustad also 30lb test I got at Walmart (not sure the model but it was dark green). The Mustad seemed possibly a bit weaker but was smoother reeling it in,it seemed to resist less. Both bleed color, not an issue for me personally.
The best value line is Spiderwire EZ Braid. 14$ for 300 yards super smooth holds knots incredibly well! As for my testing it's casted 10 to 15 yards farther then the best braids on the market. I can literally cast into the wind without wind knots. Best stuff on the market period for cheap line no comparison!!!
@@twillis1986 which one broke? I love my suffix but i use my j braid morr for just casting Pacific technics. But youre reviews ate not on point with what some other more experienced reviewers they have way different opinions than you.
I'm a big fan of the 8 strand beyond braid. Excellent braid for the money. Power pro and j braid imo are still at the very top in quality, but if your budget minded like I am I've been very very pleased with the beyond braid brand.
Haven't found a braid I like. Old fashioned I guess. I do use it. After trying several brands I decided on KastKing. I also like Suffix. More expensive though.
actually impressed that the power pro got to 19 lbs after soaked in wd40 for 2 weeks.. the first break at 12 lb could have been a nick in the line from your previous use.. at least 1 more test on the soaked wd40 line would have proven more value... but thanks for the entertainment
Damn, aftr watching yr video on the price of these lines i might just try one of these. I'm using Varivas Avani GT SMP PE8,i must admit it is the smoothest, strongest and cast like a dream but it cost me 200USD for 600m spool of 80lb. I should give these cheaper line a try, great video n thanks. 👍
Hello have you heard about/used Hercules 4 strand pe braid before? Would be great to see you review it in 20lb I'm really interested in green/camo colours! I know of other channels that our a fan of it! Looking on amazon the price seems really good!
I've used and still use the godline. Never had a problem yet. I've used it about 9 months now.. I just ordered an 80lb. line. 8stran braid. I ordered the 1500yrds roll and just put it on three of my trolling conventional reels. I paid 45.00 for it compared to other brand names for the same was about 130.00. I will review them all on my channel in about 6 months and let you know how they worked out. P.S. this was the new generation PE blade too. Tight lines
Love your channel, been following you for a while. I would like to see you get a decent mic for your voiceovers on them though, that cutting in and out, and tone change is not par with your quality of video and info bud. I will still be watching though >) I have had great luck with KK braid. I have never had it break, never had a failure. Love the rods, they are outstanding in Pro Tourney line, have many reels, so far no failures, though they have a finish issue with quality control, but no malfunctions yet, also a 99% saltwater guy.
thx for the tip man. so here's the deal: i film with my older samsung s7 phone. it has great, rich, stereoscopic audio pick up when my mouth is 3-4" from the screen. any farther and i drift away or it sounds tinny. i tried probably 4 different smartphone aux mics and none come close to the s7 onboard mic. so when i move product or reach for something, my voice drifts. i didn't think anyone would notice haha, guess i'm wrong! maybe the next phone will be better. re kk line, yup, pretty impressed with it, i stand behind my claim superpower is best budget braid out there.
For me, i always try get the best of the best when it comes to terminal tackle and line. If you really think about it, its whats keeping you connected to a possible fish of a lifetime and no amount of money saved is worth losing that fish of a lifetime. Maybe its worth it if you are trying to get into fishing with braid but if you have been fishing it for a while and fully comfortable with it then i cant see why you wouldn’t get a top shelf braid.
all braided line "bleeds/fades" color in Sun light or any water Salt or Fresh in a couple seasons. also it degrades maybe faster than Mono even, and gets very brittle as if its Biodegradable
That's cap 🤣 I still got my power pro spooled on my casting reel from a whole year and half ago, probably longer, I lost track. Fading is true though, it's nearly white now.
Hi i just watched your video. I have to say I used the power pro regular, the suffix 832, Berkley fireline, and tried a brand I can't remember the name of that I got my fiance for like 8 bucks. My most favorite line out of the ones I listed is power pro. That is my go to braid of all time. I love the knot strangth and it is strong as hell. I could pull in a Buick with it if my rod didn't break lol. I do like the fireline have had anything wrong with it but just feels brittle to me. I thought the 832 was trash and I thought the braid I got for my fiance was trash too. The 832 just barried it's self in my spool and couldn't get it out I ended up having to cut it out which ended up scratching my spool on my reel. Plus didn't like how it tied. I do wanna try Pline's braid they have out. I tried their tactical florocarbon and loved it so far but did only use it once right before the season was over. But had a lot better experience with their floro compared to a couple of others ive tried. But so far for braid my all time favorite is power pro original.
Because of these reviews, I ordered the Seaknight Monster W8 and it's really very good! I prefer Jbraid but it's 3 times the price. So far the Monster 20lbs and 30lbs is great and has not let me down. Please Ish could you review the cheaper fluorocarbon leaders, that would be awesome!
You mention kastking and j braid do very good on surf fishing, bottom vertical jigging..... Are they also good for salmon steelhead bobber, spinner, drift.... fishing?
One question even though the majority of these braids are below the standard required are they better than the non braid equivalent for children’s rigs. I favour spiderwire braid
tbh i wouldn't put any braid on a kid's setup, i think the stress of braid would break most, except a dock demon. i just leave the crappy mono and call it a day lol
Thank you for this useful video , it’s first time to me start casting and i used diawa jx8 but i get some wind knots.. and i want to buy cheap braid line to learn then use diawa so which one you prefer to me to start casting without make wind knots ??
I have kastking kastpro, power pro spectra, kastking super power, power pro super slick V2, and godline x8. My godline x8 feels just like j braid. Please review the x8 to see what you think?
Don't you prefer Shimano Kairiki SX8 strand to J Braid 8 strand? it is thinner and smoother and holds colour better. I am a braid snob and use Shimano Ocea on my high end reels (Twinpower and above), but on lower end stuff (Saragosa and below) I use Kairiki. I have used lots of J-Braid 8 and do like it, but Kairiki is better in my opinion. I use mainly 8-16 strand line but don't mind classic powerpro as a 4 strand and love the Hollowace 16 strand for swordfishing etc. White Tasline is also great. I have over 10 grands worth of braids in hundreds of different types n spools, and if I was going to suggest a cheaper 8 strand it would be Kairiki first and also a close second J-Braid (it's just a bit think for it's strength in comparison) cheers, Dave down under..
i talked about them during the filming, but in the edit found out they're not directly sold by kk anymore, so i edited it out. basically mega8 is spongey and fades quickly but accurate in lb rating. maxthin8 is awesome extremely thin line that kk stopped selling - color holds, knots and casts well, it was great, kk should bring it back asap.
@@aftereffect4832 I have used quite a few older 4 strand braids from top brands that were noisy and rattled through the guides. The newer 8 strand braids are less noisy and noticably less bumpy as they are smoother being round in profile. The old 4 strand braids tend to have a very twisted or flat profile that allow tiny grit particles to collect between the twists - and these might scour your guides after some time. In essence any 8 strand braid will be far better than a 4 strand of the same breaking strength - for smoothness and casting distance. And this is only my personal experience. I have been using 15Lb Jbraid and 20Lb Jbraid for over a year and it's unbelievably smooth and strong - but it does run thicker than stated though.
Hi, thanks for the video! I need to buy a braid for tuna spinning for my Daiwa Saltist 8000. I need a PE6 80lbs and I have to choose between Jbraid x8 79lbs (0.35) and Power Pro x8 84lbs (0.41). Which one would you choose?
eu pasei de usar power pro de sepining costero a kasteking me a dado mejores resultados y dura mas al mal trato ya que el power pro se desilacha rapidamente ,mas economico y fiable esto comforme
My 3 favourite braided line I use. Varivas Avani (made in Japan), Tasline Elite (made in New Zealand), and World Fishing Tackle KG Strong made (Germany).
40lb godline is horrible. Company sent replacement, just as bad. Hercules is cheap, ships from So Cal, and very strong ! I'll give the monster and J next
I bought the 50lb grey. If used on a catfish setup, it is great. If used on a low profile reel frog setup, not so good. You don't get backlash but you will be adjusting the line alot on the spool. This was on a Revo Winch and Cara rod.
@@halfmoon5022I was thinking of buying it but if you go on Amazon and look at reviews alot of people say it's not to good, I was also going to buy 50 lb line but I bass fish and would be using it for top water mostly and fishing heavy cover I just don't know how durable it is and if it's tensile strength really is 50 pounds or if it's less
It is strong no doubt. On a 5600 round baitcaster on a heavy Lowrider, no leader, circle hook catfisher, never has it busted. Bass fishing with frogs or carolina rig, go with Maxima or another quality name brand.
Daiwa J- braided x8 line is not consider good quality line...... i fish on and fight the fish for few second line broken suddenly . i tried harder control my reel tension drag , unfortunately it broken too.
thx for the feedback. i consider j-braid x8 great affordable line, but it's def not premium quality, there are many finer (and more expensive) japanese braids. i'll have to check out that kariki sx8, thx!
Dont buy the aliexpress daiwa, shimano siglon or any other fishing brands lines they are all fake. Im not saying that is no good basically they are all the same they Just change the brands stickers in some cases they even use the same spool If you are looking for good quality and silcky smooth braid line go to your local fishing store and buy there and feel the smooth of the line... in the case of the popular daiwa J-braid they stamp the "D" of the daiwa logo inverted upside down and you look but you cant see i bought the same size and model (daiwa J-braid) And i can say that everything is diferent the plástic spool the thickness and the smooth... aliexpress brands is ok but trademarks like Power pro, Siglon, Shimano, Daiwa etc is all fake Nice vid by the way
imo neither surf perch or surf stripers are affected by line color. a good leader is really the difference maker, i try to keep min 3 to 4' fluoro on top for lures and c rigs.
i actually talked about them but didn't include them in the edit because i found out kastking doesn't sell them anymore. mega8 sucked, but maxthin8 was amazing! wish they still sold it.
@@ishwithfish why Mega8 sucks? It's a good deal by price on AliExpress with 14 dollars for 300m spool and for 17$ you can get SuperBraid 1000m spool up to 80lb... For me best buy / quality was Daiwa Tournament's... But for fishing on freshwater with lots of grass SuperBraid was great deal...
You can still buy mega8 even that is still the "best" braid from KastKing by their advertising on internet... So I'm skipping to get Mega8 and go for trusted Daiwa tournament
i like mega8 at first, but i noticed 2 things: 1) it kinks ... it can be stiff in some sections and supple in others, so the line lay pattern can be uneven and casting can lead to knots, and 2) it's pretty thick and spongy, and just feels inconsistent while using it. if you can find maxthin8, that is a much better kastking product, even more so than kastpro. i agree, any daiwa line is consistent and dependable.
*Have used the braided line for several years **enjoyable.fishing** recommend both for salmon in the summer as well as walleye through the ice. Can’t beat it for the price!*
Daiwa j braid is my all time favorite. Kastking powerpro is ok but I've found that in spinning gear it is sticky or it just digs into itself. I had a horrible time float fishing with it and I notice it doesn't cast as far when tossing spoons and hardbaits. And yes it bleeds super easily
J braid is Good for casting and you can spool much more on your reel. but for abbreviation its much more prone. Actually all of the braids. thats why i buy cheaper braid with same strength and lot cheaper.
Thank you for this refreshing video. So many ''unboxings'' and ''reviews'' of cheap gear on YT it makes my head spin. As much as I think Kastking is much (much much) better at marketing than developing gear (read choosing from an OEM catalog), I also, like their braid. I used their Super Power, Fortis and Mega 8 mostly for surf fishing. I prefer Mega 8 for the smoothness (less noisy, further distance?). But the last spools I ordered it seems like the diameter of the line was different from the last order... The diameter itself is not as advertised. I measured 0.42mm for the 30 lbs zombie green advertised at 0.28mm. I could skwish it down to 0.33mm. But it's a strong line. Bought Seaknight Monster W8, diameter is thinner than Casting Mega 8 but still thicker than advertised. Have not tested it yet... Looking forward to your vids if you manage to test the 30lbs. Cheers! Keep up the good work.
Fire line has worked for me but it's pricier. I also like the seaknight 8 strand, and Hercules 8 but it breaks at about 80 percent of rating with knots. My 4000 reel hates J Braid but the 6000 is bueno.
