Yup! Dunno where that came from! I also said bend my foot instead of bend my ankle. There are a couple of brain farts in there! Another classic - momentarily forgot heel pad, so called it a heel block.
for an old bold guy this was super sweet. i really dig cess slides, unity / savannah and wall rides, your edit was bang on my alley. nice review too, SUBBED!!!
This is the exact pair I picked up! I believe I have an anti-rocker set-up I believe. Hoping to get out today weather permitting and just learn how to ride around again.

I had the k2 Fatty Pro and now I bought the Razors Shift 2, the feeling is terrible. Super uncomfortable, I really wish the k2 were still available. They are super light and the truth, enough for my skating. I see these Roces and they bring back a lot of memories, but I think nothing will be as comfortable as a K2.
Hi, I have the same "problem", being size EU 44,5 and having this size the skates are usually for shells 45 - 46, which I hate. I skated size 45 liners in 44 Razors genesys and it was the best feeling skate I've had. After a few years off skating I am looking to return into blading and skate at least a little, and I am considering M12s and Aeons. Have you tried them with smaller shells also? They both have the same shell sizing - 43-44 and the bigger shell is 45-46 and I would like to avoid having the bigger shell.
I’m trying to decide between the new fifths yuto model or the aeon 60 xix. Heard good and bad about both. These being heavy and then the white aeons supposedly get slow with sole grinds. Would love to ride flat with that one piece set up though and still have the big grind block on the frames. Sizing is throwing me off all over the place though. In both skates I’ve seen people sizing down, saying they are true to size and some people sizing up. Such a head fuck. 😂 I’ve been out of the game for about 12 years or so, and obviously there are no skate shops around anymore so it’s all just a big online guessing game. The joys.
This is a really great review. Thanks for all the detail. Your sizing comments were really clear, but they conflict a little with what I've read other places online. Can you compare the fit of these vs some other current skates? I'm skating the 43/44 Aeon shell and pretty much max it out. Should I expect the 43/44 5th Element to fit similar, or loser? Basically trying to decide if I need to downsize (which seems to be the internet wisdom). I'd prefer to go with the larger size and have some room for insoles or heel pads if needed for gaps rather than downsize and need a super thin liner. But I also don't want giant skates with a sloppy fit, and I've heard other comments like yours about foot movement in these.
I have skated both Aeons and Fifth Element and I would say the toe area on the Fifth Element is definitely wider. I rode the size 9UK Aeon when they first released the Nick Lomax and found fit perfect with a Fatboy liner. The size 9.5UK Fifth Element pretty much fits the same.
Love this video. Getting back into skating after a looooong time off (like 20 years...). Rode Solomon ST1s back then. Any suggestions on skates that are particularly good for a bit again skater?
The Them U1 and Seba CJ are probably my favourite skates in terms of how they fit my foot. They both have wide toe boxes which suits my massive toes. The Fifth Element is definitely up there though. In fact, with the stock liner, it probably fits better than the U1. I never had the Intuition liners when I was riding the Fifth Elements, but the standard liner they come with is really comfortable. If I had the Intuition liner then I probably would have bought a size smaller Fifth. The Fifth has a better soul plate than the U1 but it's heavier and the plastic on the boot is softer and won't last as long. The U1 has a stronger/stiffer boot but the soul plate isn't as good. However, I love how tight it fits to my foot and how light it is. If Them made a slightly wider soul plate, I would be in heaven.
I didn't say tightening it worse. I said the cuff becomes so loose and floppy after a while that, no matter how much you tighten it, it still feels loose and lacking in support.
They say you should 1 size up for the M12 die to narrow fit. Do you think it's necessary to do the same for the 5th element even tho they're built wider? I'm tired of sending back skates after trying them on and getting wrong size lol
It would be a tight squeeze, but you might just get away with it by using an Intuition liner or a MyFit Second Skin. It also depends on whether you are referring to UK sizes or US sizes.
