Thank you. Due to the story's tone, that's the reason I wasn't suprised when Spot was the main villain.

It’s not really gradual he’s incompetent at the start. In mumbattan he’s just running away and then he turns into a god level omnipotent being 5 mins later. Not to say that takes away from the movie I just think they were going for a character that juxtaposes himself from the start hence the inverted colours and new art style for him

And not just that, of all the people that convince them, its Avi goddamn Arad lmao

Watch out for the underrated villians, especially the ones that get beaned with a bagel.

Then check out Alberto Mielgo... He was the brain behind the whole art direction of the first one and they treated him ... Not... So... Good ?! In my opinion a lot of the success of these films is based on his artstyle

Greedy executives are the worst, it's like they don't even realize that they wouldn't have a movie if it wasn't for the talented animators, CGI crew (for other movies) and similar roles. @@christophknopf629100% it was so weird seeing the art at first in the first movie because I haven’t seen any animated movie like it. I really enjoyed the first movie on art alone. Everything else was secondary but still extremely well dome

That's why I'm glad VFX/CG animators are considering moving towards unioning in Hollywood. And how much more important the SAG-AFTRA Strike is because its gonna send ripples through to the other departments in movie/TV making

It’s like if Phil Lord and Chris Miller knew how we feel when they were writing the script.

Not to mention it builds on his "seen everything at this point" theme from ITSV.

Worse still, it was dangling in front of us even before the story came out. The reported budget was $100 million which, even accounting for some tech developed for the first movie making the workflow easier, was suspiciously low for a movie of much bigger scope and ambition than the first (reported cost: 90 million). Which means they may have rather squeezed out the people they had.

Disney/Marvel feels the need to control their Multiverse. And that's where they fail. DC didn't even try and it's obvious they need to stop for good. Don't bother with a reboot.

I feel like some scenes in the beginning of the movie have really weird pacing and kinda ruin what could be really genuine moments. also gwen's weird fascination with pregnant elsa spiderman kinda felt like it came out of nowhere. but when those are my only complaints its a pretty good movie I think

so distracting that most people didn't realize the plot makes absolutely no sense in multiple ways.

Watching with my little sibling, they actually got bored near the end. Apparently it was too slow for them

An ABSOLUTE masterpiece indeed! Across the Spiderverse is LITERALLY a comic book in motion! The voice talents, the storyline, the soundtrack and the animation are IMPECCABLE! Seeing this with a packed audience was entertaining in and of itself. Can't wait for Beyond the Spiderverse! 😁❤

The first song in the opening and the very end when Miles is captured are the same but ramp in intensity in different ways

Classic super hero story though. They often create their own villians. I mean, take a look at Iron Man, 90% of his problems are the result of his arrogance upsetting someone. That said, Spots is a great villain and I am excited to see part 2

Well the reality is....Spot could have done 1000 different ways to make money. Seriously, you can make holes in reality, and all you can think of crime? I mean hell if nothing else, sue the company, or get government disability, or go on a talk show, write a book. But no he chose to be a criminal, and so Spiderman goes to catch you.

I think spot is a parody of all the iron man villains. "You were rude to me at a hotel tony, I'm gonna burn you to death!" "You threw a bagel at me miles, I'm gonna kill everyone you love!" It's pretty hilarious tbh

oh please, you are taking the word of people who exaggerate and make up stories for a living...the same people who have cost hollywood 500 billion in market cap in the last couple years by constantly insulting the customer base and making movies that were 1 part movie 2 parts civics lecture. look no further then them trying to pretend that the studio trimmed trees to deny them shade...a plot so terribly contrived and ineffective that it has to be the brainchild of a hollywood writer. "they want to make us homeless." no they don't care one way or the other...believe me they deeply hope you go find somewhere else to work.

@@CamJames I could see how you feel that way about the "Nah, Imma do my own thing" However, the first half of the dialogue made it very relatable to the black community because most of us are told we're either gonna end up in jail or the grave. Then even if you "make it out" you're considered the anomaly amongst your colleagues. So with him outsmarting all of them and saying this was like the icing on top and hit deep for me.

The movie apparently was pretty rough on the animation team ( not surprising, it was amazing and clearly took a ton of work) The delay just means the stress will not end anytime soon 😆

Depends on how much of the script is done. If they don't have a script with the writers strike and all they can't start anyway.

@@dragonhunterx5929 based on the fact that Beyond was set to release in May before the delay, the script should be mostly done by that point.

I think it got delayed _because_ of the mass quitting and strikes lol, but I guess technically still true?

Considering all the strikes going on, there's a decent chance that they'll have to be treated better for the sequel. Or that we just won't get Part 2 at all because the execs would rather do that than treat their workers like actual people. I got my fingers crossed for them and the conclusion to the story!

I didn't even know it was a two-parter going in. And I got so immersed in the story, the movie only had like 8 min left before I realized. Don't think I ever got so frustrated by a cliffhanger before, which just goes to show how good it was.

No problem with the fact that universe 42 still exists despite never having a spiderman at all to have the supposedly critical canon events with? How about the villian being a not so subtle metaphor for the fanbase? you know poking holes in the writing, threatening to destroy the universe if things don't remain in canon...Being a total loser that suddenly becomes a major threat to the future of everyone involved. I'm blown away by people thinking this movie was good. It was colorful and distracting enough for most people not to notice the writers all have room temperature IQ's but think they are geniuses.

My eyes were bleeding 10 minutes in. it only got tolerable after they left Gwen's, surrealist painting that someone spilled their drink on, world. Most of the art choices absolutely SCREAMED imitating what they were applauded for in the first one and going OVERBOARD. They even forgot what the point behind having miles low frame rate was...because in this movie everyone is low frame rate. It was a cute way to show inexperience in the first movie...but is it implying that everyone is incompetent in the second? I think anyone who enjoyed this movie would also like jingling keys and seriously needs to consider being evaluated for ADHD.

But because it supposedly is contingent on miles staying in canon even though he was not supposed to be spiderman to begin with so none of his life would be in canon...on top of that universe 42 still exists despite NEVER HAVING HAD SPIDERMAN AT ALL... Considering the strikes and how the execs just aren't budging? That's a distinct possibility, yeah. But if it means we get a conclusion without severe human cost, it'll be worth it.
