I agree on your assessments of this new product so far. The functionality and price point are going to really open up opportunities for simmers that don't have the budget for a 2K Garmin replica screen and to make setups that can be multi-purpose and configurable many ways.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
I think so. Having the built in encoder will be great. I am still very curious about all of the features.

Among all the media coverage of the Expo, your 2 videos so far are the best. Meaningful news and information, although I would have liked to know more about MSFS 2024, but I can imagine you were given only a few minutes with Jorg.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
Yeah, I had a ton of questions about MSFS 2024, but it really didn't seem polite to press him for that information. I was just happy and a bit star struck just to meet him.

So Nicki did say it will also have an Ethernet plug so you don't have to use WiFi if you don't want to. Also the smaller ones are going to change with different bezel, and the knobs are going to move around as well. The ones he had on the show floor were very very very early prototype and will not look like what the end product is going to be like. It was very interesting to stand there and listen to Nicki,( which can TALK) and listen to his thought process and his excitement for the flight sim community and the products that he is developing for us.
@IvanSkyFlight

I listened to much of what he had to say. Glad you caught some more details. I know they are going to have a motion sensor as well, but I didn’t quite catch what they will do.

This looks pretty promising and is likely to raise Air Manager's overall visibility pretty significantly. I don't think I'd want to downsize my monitors by any means, but those smaller ones for use as GTC controllers could be quite enticing.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
Agreed. I am still good with my setup, but I do like the possibility of having a small, streamlined setup. I said in the video these are not meant to be regular monitors, but I wonder if you could load Duet or something and get extra functionality out of them.
@DownTheRabbit-Hole
@DownTheRabbit-Hole Год назад
I agree. 3 x GTC might work via streaming wifi or ether and could be beneficial on lesser computers. I doubt if this concept will handle MFD or PFD with syn vision via popout windows. IMO, touch controllers is the future. Analog is headed out.

These are so cool. I shall look forward to buying these in 2032, when they’re back in stock. I really with Honeycomb would run kickstarter-like launches, so they could ensure they had enough for the first run.

@marcw.5492 Год назад
Thanks ! - does this double as the Knobster ? and can you pop out screens to these or only Air Manager ?
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
So these aren't displays that connected to the graphics cards. These are basically tablets that run a special version of Air Manager (as I understand it). If you have ever used Air Manager on the iPad it seems more like that. Since these are tablets you perhaps could run software like Spacedesk or Duet, but that turns them into standard displays. That rotor know does work similar to Knobster. Let me know if I didn't answer your question.

I don't know what it does or the price but it's great at what it does for the cost?
@IvanSkyFlight

It adds external gauges and displays for flight simulation. If it lives up to the hype, it will be great for the cost.
@bjorn2625

Unless Honeycomb has some kind of development support from X-Plane, P3D, MSFS, they're going to have to stream the cockpit screens onto these screens somehow. Unless, you're going for dials only, which clearly they aren't here.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
Air Manager 4.2 is going to add cockpit screen streaming for X-Plane. The beta is available now. Not sure how this will work for MSFS.

Could the smaller one is flipped sideways and used as a GTN650 I wonder.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
I am not sure. My guess is yes. I think you could also build a panel for the larger screen and include a GTN650. You would just size it appropriately.

@DownTheRabbit-Hole
@DownTheRabbit-Hole Год назад
Just guessing: 1) They are streaming AM data, therefore, no G1000/5000 or GTC popouts. Basically analog cockpit only. 2) These monitors are waaaay too small. They will ruin your eyes. 3j Yes, streaming is better for overall performance, but lacks the flexibility of complete AM touchscreen monitors where G1000/5000 gtc etc can be displayed. This is a tough sell to experienced AM touchsceen/knobster users. Doubt if it will fly. Seems ill-conceived. No offense. Simply my opinion.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
For the popouts, X-Plane will send that stream over wifi.
@DownTheRabbit-Hole
@DownTheRabbit-Hole Год назад
If the geniuses at Siminnovations can stream pfd/mfd/3xgtc over wifi or ether then this might be viable. I kinda doubt it. Probably just an analog instrument thing like their air player to iPad concept.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
Actually the over the air technology is X-Plane and Siminnovations working together. It's either in beta or may even be out. MSFS on the other hand...not sure what is going to happen with that in terms of display data over wifi.
@DownTheRabbit-Hole
@DownTheRabbit-Hole Год назад
What is the advantage here? I use 2 x 21" touchscreens and knobster that are hdmi HD. $500. I run all popouts including MFS longitude G5000 mfd/pfd/synvision and 3 x GTC. Seriously, would like to know.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
I think it's a preference/style kind of thing. I also have two large touch screen monitors with a knobster and they are great. Having said that, I could see this being an awesome small build that doesn't take up too much space, but I don't know that I would change from my current setup.

Sadly, it appears that it won't work for Garmin products, all of which work in Air Manager by popping out the graphical display of the Garmin unit and dragging it inside an Air Manager bezel on a touchscreen. That is currently possible only on a display that receives it's input from the GPU -- i.e., a display which is an extension of the PC's desktop. IF Honeycomb or AM has figured out how to get the Garmin screens onto a display connected only via the LAN, rather than by HDMI or DP, then back up the truck, and I'm in, but that sounds like a very tall order without which these Delta gizmos' usefulness is greatly limited for most of us -- way too limited to spend $1,200 on. For people who are quite sure they'll never need anything but steam gauges, though, 👍.
@IvanSkyFlight
@IvanSkyFlight Год назад
If you are on X-Plane, then you may be in luck. Air Manager 4.2 is going to stream the displays over the network. So that will be awesome. Not sure what they will do for MSFS.
@Buddy308

@@IvanSkyFlight No luck for me. I use MFS exclusively. But if Honeycomb was working with SimInnovations during Delta development, it may well be that SI will be developing that functionality for MFS, too. 🤞

The alpha yoke was always poor design. I hangered mine due to poor resolution in pitch and a stickiness after 2 years. No hall sensors. The ignition on right was poor location, should be on left to operate with left hand while pushing mix on start. The red AP disconnect should be on left as well. Still waiting 3 months for my Airbus throttle addon. I give honeycomb mixed reviews. My Bravo detents are basically non-existent for thrust rev. Oh well.
@RealWorldAviationandGaming9392
@@DownTheRabbit-Hole I agree, I used my for 1 month and it has been in the box ever since. The same for the Thrust Master throttle set. I truly wish some of these companies stop doing the money grab and fully engineer a tested liable product before launch and the promoters on RU-vid tell the honest truth about said products that they review. It cost us ALL wasted time and money!
