The Honeywell 6290 is one of the newer touchscreen keypads to the fleet. The 6280 is the older tuxedo touch. This is one of the first few reviews and full overview of the keypad and its features. The keypad is still being updated and new features may come. If so, an update may come out.

Major correction: After a bit more research, there's a few different models. 6290WC = Graphic touchscreen Display, Resideo branded 6290W (what I have here)= Graphic touchscreen Display, Honeywell Home branded TuxedoWC= Graphic touchscreen Smart home (Allowing for widgets, smart home capability) Resideo branded TuxedoW= Graphic touchscreen Smart home (Allowing for widgets, smart home capability) Honeywell branded There is a difference between all of them but all have the same basic function. Refer to Honeywell's website under products, keypads, graphic touchscreens. In other words, if you are looking for a z-wave compatible keypad where you can toggle devices and view ip cameras, look for the TuxedoW or TuxedoWC. Great video. Is there a way to default a touchpad to a partition other than P1? I have 2 units and want each one to be set to its own partition.

Thanks! Yes, you can default each touchscreen to a specific partition. Check out field *189 in the programming manual for further instructions. There you can address each touchscreen to a specific partition

Great video, how did you change it to say Merry Christmas? I'm trying to name the partitions but it won't let me.

That’s would be under alpha programming, under *82, yes to alpha, yes to custom words, and when it says 00, press 11 fore partition 1 description. Here follow the ASCII chart (all of this is on page 11 of the programming manual) to type out what you want! I will most likely make a video on this soon, as its commonly requested. Thanks!

I understand you can do a firmware update over wifi.. Do yo uneed to be an official installer with a certain credentials to get the update? Or can you manually do a firmware update from the setup menu?

Well, after two years of owning this touchscreen, I've yet to see it update itself. With a quick google, apparently these touchscreens, with the wifi enabled and connected, along with the "allow remote upgrade" box checked, should update themselves through AlarmNet360 servers. I don't think you need to be a certified installer. Im honestly unsure how to do a manual update/remote upgrade. I'll attempt to look further into it.

how did you change the partition name to christmas??? I cant find a way to change partition names...

You can change it through the programming. It should be under field *80, allow alpha descriptors, and 11.

Hello! Yes, these touchscreen keypads are assigned on the ECP bus address. This touch screen however, it not supported on the G2.

@@nm4fsv684 thank you very much for reply, I will test old v of this lcd panel 6280w on G2 -44+ because its the last model with ECP bus on the mother board, and i have allready performed the buy. Compatible model for G2 is another ref: CP040-50 or CP043. Nice day for all.

As of right now, I don’t think its possible/an easier way to program rf devices on the touchscreen. I couldnt find a menu for rf devices. That could also be just my model of 6290.

I believe it should be supported. Check the programming manual and make sure touchscreen keypads are support though.

Yes. Make sure your panel that you want to interface it with asks for AUI in device programing or it won't work. I wonder if there is an graphical update for this thing yet.

To change the master code, on these touch screen keypads, you have to go to the security home screen, 3 dots, and console mode. There you enter the original master code, + 8 +new 4 digit code twice. It will beep 3 times letting you know it worked. You have to do it quickly or it'll time out. Other user codes can be done on this touchscreen under setup, system setup, user codes and hit the pencil to edit the user.

Could you explain a little more as to why you would set partitions? I’m assuming that you would set the alarm for your entire house so what would be a reason why you would set partitions? Thank you.

@@DBR00 If a single panel is used for multiple establishments or if you want to arm a specific area in your home such as a garage or home office.

It's not required but highly recommended. I installed one in my home with 3 other 6160s and while it appeared OK to run off the panel's power at first, if the system went into alarm (two sirens) it would overdraw power and completely shut down. If this is the only keypad you have it's probably okay, but if you have other stuff feeding off the panel's power (motion detectors, keypads, RF receiver, etc.) you're probably better off hooking it up to its own power supply. Just make sure that you connect the negative terminal on the keypad's power supply to the negative terminal on your control panel or else the keypad won't work. It will turn on but it won't download/connect to the panel.

Seems like they were in a hurry getting this out. So bland. Hope they keep someone on developing the user interface, That tic-tac-doe looking numerical keypad is inexcusable.

Yea no kidding... it's basically an Android tablet with a custom launcher / UI... but man that's some trash UI design. Default keyboards and toasts showing up, needs more polish.
